JOSIP JURANOVIC is on his way to Union Berlin after Celtic accepted a £10million bid for their Croatian international right-back.

The 27-year-old defender’s 18 months at the champions is nearing the end following his £2.5million arrival from Legia Warsaw as one of Ange Postecoglou’s first buys for the club.

The initial fee is understood to be £7.5million plus add-ons and the player has been given permission to travel to Germany to complete the move to the Bundesliga outfit.

HAPPIER DAYS…Josip Juranovic is congratulated by Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley after scoring in Celtic’s ladndslide 9-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice in August.

It will bring a conclusion to a transfer saga that started in June last year with a link to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, as CQN reported.

The speculation picked up pace when Juranovic knocked back an enhanced contract from the champions in November and his five-star performances for his country in the World Cup Finals in Qatar pushed him into the spotlight.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United were all said to be monitoring his situation and it now appears the Berlin club have won the race, as Sky Sports reported.

Postecoglou has cover for the No.2 position after spending £3.5million on Canada World Cup star Alistair Johnston who made his debut in the 2-2 draw at Ibrox on January 2, just 24 hours after his international clearance came through.

Scotland international Anthony Ralston will also provide competition at right-back.
