Development strategies

Booking £20m from TV rights in China over 10 years is a remarkable deal for the SPFL, it shows a lot of faith from broadcaster, PPLive, who have the responsibility to foster the league in the world’s most populous country.  The cash will be beer money to Celtic but represents a substantial income for most of the Premiership.

The deal opens the door for Celtic to follow-through, the only club with the wherewithal to exploit the merchandising, scouting and recruitment opportunities there.  We’ve seen strategies developed in Mexico, India and now China, while the European football-tourist market is also now being targeted through online partners.

None of this will put the ball in the Ajax net tomorrow night but it is important nonetheless.

Delighted we’re at Tynecastle in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.  Hearts players found the will to live against Hibs last week but they have little more than effort to their game.  Should be a cracking tie, which will not be subject to the performance vagaries of a home tie with Morton.

The only trouble they will have with Celtic fans today is keeping them sorted with beer!

    That made me titter…

I’ll be watching it on my boat in a west London marina at 11pm on channel 67…

  4. anyone got a link to the live camera in the Dam ?

shocking attack on the celtic fans last night, woman and kids in the pub as well.

    brave brave hooligans.

  5. Just in to say….

Reasons why the Celtic ‘bored’ should be sacked. imo

Nothing to say about Neil Lennon being kicked almost fatally by two scum bags whose sentences / charges were later reduced.

Nothing to say about Neil Lennon’s mis-carriage of justice at the Edinburgh court.

Nothing to say about the LNS verdict leaving ‘all’ dialogue to the football manager to deal with during his press conference before the next game.

Nothing to say about the young fans of the future being ‘kettled’ doon the Gallowgate.

Watching the Celtic 1st team being stripped of it’s prized asset who was also our best CH(although VVD looks a cracker) and ball-winning MF(Vic 67) and not giving the manager adequate funds to at least try to replace this player.

Either – NL is being shafted on a grand old scale by the ‘bored’ and is too daft to see it – which I doubt very much.

Or – NL is part of the deception and duplicity being spun smoke n mirrors spivco style

designed to take the piss oot of the Celtic fans of today. imo

Oh, and why has Paul, Phil or Paul never had a word to say about the silence of the ‘bored’ on all of the above ?

  7. Neil Lennon’s Amsterdam reading is a profile of the New England Patriot’s coach Bill Belichick.

Just hope NL dosen’t resort to holding his head in his hands and screaming “How do I reach these keeeds?!”

  8. Morning all

As I said earlier in week I think we might get a wee dose of reality tonight – but what do I know?

Of more concern is the safety of our fans. I liked the Ajax fans I met 2 weeks ago – rather more than their team – but Amsterdam, an otherwise great city, always seems to come with a warning. 31 years ago it was Hells Angels that the local police turned a blind eye to and now it seems to be another gang who are allowed to go around with impunity

To all my relatives, friends and fellow Celts who are over – stay safe and have fun

  9. Oh that’s right…to the bhoys in the dam….avoid polish girls called dominika, or you will be drunk under the table, and miss the game:)

Likewise blond Rumanian girls,,,,who are vey good at maths.

And watch your lip with irish girls called Mary, cause they all have six rugby playing brothers.

    Be safe:)

  10. Whitedoghunch i can kinda see where you are coming from although its way too deep tactically for me!

He wont be a decoy when he steps up to slot the ball into the net from the penalty spot….after he takes the baw off of wee Jamsie ;)

  11. I’m both saddened and amazed at the behaviour of the Ajax supporters. I’m sure the Dutch people in general must be disgusted with them.

Back in the day when I lived there, there was the Rijkspolitie who dealt with any potential trouble. They didn’t mess about it, I can assure you. They tore right in to any group threatening public order.
