£15m O’SHEA? NO WAY

CELTIC target Dara O’Shea has seen his value more than DOUBLE in just over a year.

The Republic of Ireland international centre-back joined Burnley in a £7million deal from West Brom in June 2023.

Now, despite the Turf Moor club’s relegation from the English top flight last season, the defender is valued at £15million – and that price will almost certainly scupper any hopes of a move to the champions.

£15MILLION MAN…Dara O’Shea has seen his value rocket.

The Hoops made an approach for 25-year-old O’Shea early last month, as CQN reported, but everything had to be shelved as the Lancashire club searched for a new boss following Vincent Kompany’s switch to Bayern Munich.

Scott Parker is now in charge and has slapped a remarkable £15million asking price on the Dubliner.

The most expensive defender in Celtic history is Christopher Jullien who cost £7million when Neil Lennon signed him from Toulouse in the summer of 2019.

Even with cash reserves in the bank, it is highly unlikely the champions will now splash that sort of cash on a player who would be coming in to add competition to his fellow-Irishman Liam Scales as partner to rock-solid Cameron Carter-Vickers.

£7MILLION RECORD BUY…Christopher Jullien is Celtic’s highest fee for a defender.

O’Shea now has a week to settle his future and Wolves have already tested Burnley’s resistance with a £13million offer, according to BBC Sport.

Brentford are also reported to be willing to meet the £15million asking price.

O’Shea has made 39 appearances and scored five goals for the relegated outfit and netted in their 4-1 win at Luton Town in their opening Championship game.
