£17.2m KUHN GO-AHEAD

NICOLAS KUHN is poised to seal a £17.2million move to Como early next week.

The German winger has rejected a switch to Bundesliga club RB Leipzig to link up with the Italian side after lengthy chats with the Serie A side’s new boss Cesc Fabregas, the Arsenal, Barcelona and Spain legend, according to the Daily Record.

Kuhn spent only 18 months at the champions following his £3million arrival from Rapid Vienna in January 2024. He was a bit-part player in his debut season, but showed some spectacular form last term as he netted 21 goals and provided 15 assists.

There will be no sign of the 25-year-old flanker when Brendan Rodgers’ men have their first pre-season work-out against Queen’s Park at the City Stadium this evening.

AIR WE GO…Nicolas Kuhn celebrates his goal – Celtic’s third – in the Hoops’ Premier Sports League Cup Final triumph over Ibrox opposition at Hampden in December last year.

Kuhn is likely to be clearing the way for a four-year contract with Como after being impressed following several telephone calls from Fabregas who is preparing for his second year as manager of the team.

Apparently, the former World Cup winner has given the wide Bhoy reassurances about his plans for him within his team structure in the new campaign.

Ironically, one of Kuhn’s first games for Como could be against the Hoops. The Serie A club face Al-Ahli in their own tournament on July 23 before Rogers’ side take on Ajax the following day.

Should both clubs win the German could come face to face with his old team-mates on July 27.

Rodgers has already moved to sign a possible replacement for Kuhn with last week’s £2million capture of Swedish raider Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjælland.
