JEREMIE FRIMPONG is reportedly on Barcelona boss Xavi’s wish list in this transfer window.

The former Celtic right-back joined Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in a £11.5million switch in January 2021, as CQN reported at the time.

Frimpong, who was snapped up by the Hoops in a bargain £300,000 move from Manchester City in September 2 2019, is on the Spanish giants’ radar.

Xavi is on the look-out for another No.2 to compete with Ronald Araujo and the Dutch Under-21 international tops his wanted file, according to the Daily Record.

CUP THAT CHEERS…Jeremie Frimpong holds aloft the newly-won League Cup afer seeing red with half-an-hour still to play in December 2019.

USA international Sergino Dest was left out of the squad for the goalless stalemate with Rayo Vallecano at the weekend and Frimpong has now emerged as a genuine target, especially with Cesar Azpilicueta opting to remain with Chelsea, despite suggestions throughout the summer he was destined for the Nou Camp outfit.

Celtic insisted on a sell-on fee when they parted with the pacy back-four operator and are now in line for a cash bonanza.

Frimpong will cost in the region of £25million and the Parkhead club could pick up around £2.5million as a percentage of the profit.

Former chief executive Peter Lawwell insisted on such terms in the transfers of players such as Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama when they left Parkhead.

Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney are also covered while Frimpong will be rated in the same category at around 20 per cent of any profit for the German club.

Frimpong may have been only 16 months at the Glasgow giants, but he very swiftly became a fans’ favourite.

He was red-carded in his only Cup Final appearance for the Hoops when a goal from Christopher Jullien won the Betfred League Cup silverware against Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox men in December 2019.
