2 European Cups and 10 in a row

I may have told you this before, apologies if I’m repeating myself.  Around 20 years ago, in a TV studio minutes after a Rangers victory, a former captain, Terry Butcher (what ever happened to him?), told the audience, “David Murray will not stop until he’s won two European Cups and 10 in a row.”

Use of the personal term “he”, not the club name, struck me.  Murray was personally invested in this matter.  Such a burning desire did not make David Murray a bad person, he owned the dominant club in Glasgow, but the team he was dominating had all that glorious history.  If the boot was on the other foot, you’d want the same.  I would.

Perhaps if Jock Stein had stayed at Hibs, Celtic would have stayed in mediocrity, David Murray would have had a more affordable dream and the liquidation of his club would not have been necessary.

You know it’s true…….

On Tuesday’s STV report that Hearts manager, John McGlynn, said:

“How many fans would think they could win the league if Celtic weren’t in it at this stage? All [clubs’] fans would.

“That would cause great excitement and I think it would bring fans back to the game, at the lower clubs.

“If you look at the rest of us outside Rangers and Celtic, we’d all fill our stadiums if we thought we’d realistically have a chance of winning the league.”

There are screeds written and spoken about our game but the McGlynn Plan is the most productive comment I’ve read all year.  Well done to STV for the report, hopefully they will put the same questions to others in the league. This is the most important question for Scottish football right now.

It’s time for these clubs to throw off their downtrodden ways and genuinely compete for the Scottish title.

    clubs cant afford to write off that money, the sfa if charged will have to cough up the compensation if they all come at once it could bankrupt them, as I said just happy thoughts :o)

    We’ve been having a little quiz on the CQN Magazine Facebook page, asking who can guess the christian name of the Lord who put the final nail in the Rangers coffin yesterday in the Court of Session. Amusing answers and the correct one is sure to send a few Zombies further round the bend!

    Tell the insurance company you are a 21 year old teetotal celebat. You’ll get single trip insurance for a tenner. Give Thomas Crook your policy number. If anything happens to you, your up the creek minus a rowing implement. No difference from having no policy.

    One issue at a time. If the SPL believe they are better off without us, let them come to this conclusion. It is then up to Celtic to do something about it. Horse first, then cart.

    all aurlines demand you have insurance before flying with them its bog standard, rarely do they check, if you’ve got the European Health Insurance Card (application at the post office) that covers your health, treated under the NHS in Europe.

    Sounds as if you had a ball in Barca, if short.

     

     

    I’m good, bar financial stuff caused by job. Such as the Quiz night – would love to be there but just not possible. Bet you’d love to jet over as well!

     

     

    However, wife and wee mhan good so I count my blessings.

     

     

    Sister used to work for AT Mays in Partick – remember them anybody – and then got into lecturing. Currently at Clydebank. Actually saw her tonight and she was marking papers. Shockingly poor standard by her students. Grammar, spelling, you name it!

    As I said to oldtim, when you get to Lisbon post a few group pics. Would be good to see.

    It was Brilliant hearing Neil Lennon coming out and saying what had to be said on Twitter as soon as he could after the GB statement.

     

     

    Neil doesn’t have a symbiotic relationship with the GB but there has been no stronger support of Neil than from the Fantastic Green Brigade.

     

     

    The Green Brigade are a credit to Celtic and almost every Celtic fan realises this. The targeting of people is not on, Neil knows about this more than anyone else ever could.

     

     

    I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but we must stand up for Every Celtic supporter if they are being targeted like this. Intimidation and bullying must be addressed as soon as possible.

    Petec – what about a show of support for the GB at this or the next home game?

     

     

    A simple chant of “Stand up for the Green Brigade” every 15 minutes or so would come across well if observed.
