I may have told you this before, apologies if I’m repeating myself. Around 20 years ago, in a TV studio minutes after a Rangers victory, a former captain, Terry Butcher (what ever happened to him?), told the audience, “David Murray will not stop until he’s won two European Cups and 10 in a row.”
Use of the personal term “he”, not the club name, struck me. Murray was personally invested in this matter. Such a burning desire did not make David Murray a bad person, he owned the dominant club in Glasgow, but the team he was dominating had all that glorious history. If the boot was on the other foot, you’d want the same. I would.
Perhaps if Jock Stein had stayed at Hibs, Celtic would have stayed in mediocrity, David Murray would have had a more affordable dream and the liquidation of his club would not have been necessary.
You know it’s true…….
On Tuesday’s STV report that Hearts manager, John McGlynn, said:
“How many fans would think they could win the league if Celtic weren’t in it at this stage? All [clubs’] fans would.
“That would cause great excitement and I think it would bring fans back to the game, at the lower clubs.
“If you look at the rest of us outside Rangers and Celtic, we’d all fill our stadiums if we thought we’d realistically have a chance of winning the league.”
There are screeds written and spoken about our game but the McGlynn Plan is the most productive comment I’ve read all year. Well done to STV for the report, hopefully they will put the same questions to others in the league. This is the most important question for Scottish football right now.
It’s time for these clubs to throw off their downtrodden ways and genuinely compete for the Scottish title.
Still looking for a ticket for Celtic v Barcelona? Equally keen to acquire a Wee Oscar wristband? A CQN’er has very generously offered his ticket for next week to raise funds for the Wee Oscar Campaign. You can bid for the ticket/wristband package on ebay.
Tell everyone who asks you for a ticket to bid on the auction.

Looks like there may be a Sevco tax case on the horizon. How many Celtic fans helped old ladies across the road last year?

On the breaking story…..
It is important not to speculate on who has not paid tax for the last 7 years unless you are holding proof that you may one day have to produce.
The Times appear to be in possession of some hard evidence of a story which has been kicking around for a while. Let The Times name and accuse before you start making accusations.
Chaplin, yes, they were absolutely complicit.

We’ve been having a little quiz on the CQN Magazine Facebook page, asking who can guess the christian name of the Lord who put the final nail in the Rangers coffin yesterday in the Court of Session. Amusing answers and the correct one is sure to send a few Zombies further round the bend
———————
is it one of them double barreled posh names ?
kevin barry ?
john paul ?
or such like,
maybe
Neil Francis ?
What are the nick names of those not previously mentioned ?

The Green story has been bubbling under with a media outlet for a couple of weeks, but in light of The Times story, it was time to go.

Definitely.
What is the need for such aggressive policing at home games, the huns are dead anyway and an irrelevance. Far too many supporters are getting challenged and I hate my Son witnessing this when he is just going to a game of football.
Both philvis and ernie are warning about these people/peepil and that should be getting everyone on here getting their danger signs up. The Scottish Rite and Albert Pike spring to mind Pike KKK, he is alledged to have founded them after all and I believe he probably did.

Rangers are liquidated. Closed to everyone unless BDO do the unexpected and as far as I am concerned. Hence HMRCs comments regarding Sevco
Sevco has been given an SFA license.
Who are you waiting on what doing to whom ?

Awe naw, agree and I point I made a few weeks ago when Paul posted an article on the FTT and I questioned the impact this would have on Sevco as tax case was against oldco not newco.
Paul’s response was (and I paraphrase) that newco got the license by agreeing to accept any liabilities found held against oldco. Perhaps Paul would like to re affirm?

Story breaking that the bloke running Zeus Capital (major Dignity shareholder) is being chased by HMRC for guess what ….. story in tomorrow’s Times about a dodgy investment scheme.
The team in Royal Blue are in a cycle of decline which to start a turnaround needs leadership , they have a bunch of con men and crooks at the helm. 10 years in the widlerness if they do not go bust for real next time. There is no hope for them.
I am still disappointed ( but not surprised) that the football and legal authorities ‘managed’ to arrange their affairs in such a way that the SFA could exercise their discretion to keep them in the league.
If you consider Dignity (forget the football aspect) as a failed business who have not learned any lessons and continue to make the same mistakes with a bunch of failed low level business crooks at the helm, then their path is well trodden ….. call for cash, partially successful, cash drained off by the directors, hidden debts in holding companies, a few flagship (coat of paint) investments, continued anger at their lot, change of directors, stupid promises to shareholders , more call for cash, failure, then boom…..
I suspect that the Royal Blue will on balance bumble through this year and get promoted but the real pinch will be when there is no re-organisation of the leagues next summer and they really need to cut the non-playing overheads………… this will be the start of the off-field cycle of decline ……….. they will be promising future investors milk and honey as they believe the rest of the league cannnot do without them, The exact opposite is true , the rest of the league have been abused by them and are happy to see them struggle through the leagues ………
Still all their problems are ahead of them ……. how many titles should they lose, In the cold light of day the Dual Contract panel have the option of banning them (New / Sevco) out the league or massive punitive financial penalties (which they cannot / will not pay), or strike all the history and I mean all the history ……. seems a logical and defensable position to take on the appropriate level of punishment ….. the nuclear option is a withdrawal of license …
They can call themselves ————— but their whole history is actually removed from the records.

Awe_Naw..,
are you saying the sfa are immune
I was sure the Memorandum of Association accepted full liability for clubs debts

Don’t worry ….. In a Bob Marley kinda way about the GB, they will already have decided on the design, procured the materiel, and Erm probably be working on the display at the Barca game.
The thing is, the GB like to play it close to the chest, like the Craic at ibORCS / zombieland.
Trust in the GB oh and keep singinging because that’s what the GB are about.

That was the price that was exacted when UEFA, HMRC, SFA, SNP sat round the table. As that will not be publicised ever any minor deviations from the agreement as long as all objectives or main objectives have been met. Objectives being.

Not sure. SH has definitely not done Celtic any good previously but perhaps he was working his way up there to implement good policy. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until the next event.
