2 January game and subverting Celtic

231

Discussions about normalising ticket allocation between Celtic and Newco were coming to a positive conclusion ahead of the first meeting between the clubs this season when it occurred to Newco the landscape may change by the time they visit Celtic Park in January.

In the late summer, we were back and gathering in our thousands at events, indoors and out, for the most part, jabbed and ready for the world.  When Celtic alerted Newco that an equal distribution of 7,000 tickets would depend on unrestricted access at public events, Newco went cold on the idea.  The prospect of government action with major sporting events in the middle of winter has been actively considered since.

Newco have the curious advantage of playing their most difficult away fixtures: Celtic Park, Pittodrie, Tynecastle and Easter Road, between now and 2 January, when facilities face the greatest uncertainty that they can remain open to full attendances, with or without variants.

Call me a cynic, but that 2 January date looks vulnerable to some of the Scottish Government influences you have become accustomed to.  They have yet to miss a trick when it comes to subverting Celtic.

This is Scotland.

It all started with the posting of a relevant article congratulating Barbados on becoming a republic by removing the Queen as head of state, the reaction was predicted as it was predictable, the usual suspect misquoting, misrepresenting what was posted and a defence lodged against arguments which were never made, why Barbados throwing off the last remnants of the shackles of the British Empire would cause such a reaction of rage ? maybe the love of the British state clearly runs deep

The anger vitriol and hatred towards St Andrews day, the Scottish nation and its people were comparable with content readily found on follow follow, it certainly lowered the level of the debate to the gutter, no doubt the tone and quality of the debate this morning was lowered but a more objective examination and not one blinded by party loyalty would serve the site better

  2. Heard it all now.Place reeks of Unionist lackeys.

Take a look at what’s transpiring in your much loved Parliament in London.Rotten to the core with corruption, sleaze, fek the less well off attitude.Let the Asylum seekers drown in the channel, and call them, illegal migrants .Keep the rabid bigots who voted to keep them out on our side.English Nationalism running riot. They don’t have another Falklands at present, let’s take the heat of ourselves by warring with Europe over everything we feked up in Brexit, wave the Apron,a verse of Rule Brittania, and the Ernie Lynch’s of this world will rally to the cause.

Oh and CQN will back us to the hilt.

I have read some incredible Unionist drivel, but this is right up there.

The main instigator is the arch Unionist Lynch.Shitstirrer.Forget JHB,Lynch is much more sleekit.

  4. Hands up who’s changed their voting habits based on the p₩%# posted on the blog?

    No me neither.

  5. England is broken. It is dysfunctional I the extreme. It has moved away politically from much of the other constituent nations of the union. Cut it loose if you can or it will drag you down.

No country is perfect. I get the fears around the place of the irish diaspora in an independent Scotland but I have never heard one word about what Westminster has ever done to protect that community. They don’t care.

Cut the ties. Leave the toxic Union. Build something better.

Absolutely, logged in early morning, decided to give it a miss and still going about eight hours later. Can they not find a political blog and fill their boots without boring the (.)(.)’s out the rest of us😱

  7. Watching the Leeds v Palace game I don’t know how Eddy had performed in other games but on this showing he’s well short of his best….. Cue a couple of goals from him.

  8. Roberttressel, couldn’t agree more. My problem is that some on here seem to be oblivious to how we (and I don’t just mean Celtic supporters but who we are perceived to be) are treated by the SNP government, and certainly by some of its Ministers past and present. I remember only too well such comments as the praising of the deid teams disgraceful songbook or the calling of that infamous summit after the deid team’s disgraceful conduct at Park head. Still makes my blood run cold. Having said that, England seems to have lost the plot altogether.

The yes /no vote on here decimated the blog losing posters (funny, imaginitive and educational posters) at an alarming rate that the blog never recovered…. I fear this could well see the disharmony escalate…….. Fingers crossed it doesn’t

Naw! it isn’t that but I know when ma plonker is getting pulled.

I have been here for over 6 decades and was over 50 when Alex Salmond declared this a bank holiday/celebration day. With just over 3 weeks to Christmas and 4 to New Year, we needed a November holiday/feast day like a hole in the head. We already had Burns Night in January but, given Scotland’s weather, we would have been better served by celebrating St. Columba’s feast day on the 9th of June. At least, he visited the country and we would not have to share him with several other countries.

Neither you nor Inor Alex Salmond batted an eyelid on this day for most of our existence. It is an invented tradition – another ploughman’s lunch.

Don’t mistake this for hatred. My tone is very different when there is something worthy of hate. This is just fluff- unworthy of any strong emotion.

It seems to have been discovered over 2 weeks ago.

As I understand the answer is none !

Furthermore Dr Coetzee who discovered it has expressed huge concern at the over reaction of the UK to this new variant.

So far the indications are that the new strain has a high level of transmissibilty but a low negative effect as we expected with nutations. THis is NOT YET the big one we were expecting.

However, Dr, Coetzee also said that , although we needn’t be too alarmed just now with what we know, she could feel differently in 2 weeks time once more is known. Ahighly transmissable strain can severely affect hospital and health care functions even if, and it is still an if, not so many die from this.

The politicians do not have the luxury of waiting to the last minute and then putting in panic measures. They have to be shown to be reacting fast. I’ll be happy if serious control measures are introduced quickly but turn out not to be needed for long.

I fear we are not finished with mutations and deaths yet, however as we enter flu season. One of the side effects of the madder anti-vax fringe has been that taking the previously uncontroversial flu and pneumonia prevention jags, has now become part of the “culture wars” where right wingers are identifying all vaccine measures as an attack on their freedom.

That is just madness. We learned to live with enforced motorcycle helmet wearing. We learned to live with restricted smoking “rights” and we are learning to live with more punitive alcohol tax hikes to promote general health.

For all the uncertainties around these measures- I see no sense coming from the Q Anon side of the debate. We have had the biggest ever real-time trial of these vaccines with millions of people being vaccinated around the globe. We have seen that many foretold warnings have not come to pass. I have had 3 covid shots now, a flu jab and a pneumonia one. There have been no palpable side effects and I have been luck enough not to have succumbed yet. It could still happen for me as these are steps which reduce but do not eliminate my risk.

I see it as Not playing tig with the traffic as being a good way to reduce my chances of being knocked down.

Do you think we should follow Singapore’s lead and begin charging Covid-19 patients who are unvaccinated by choice for the costs of their medical treatment?
