£20m EDOUARD EDGES TOWARDS EXIT

ODSONNE EDOUARD will edge closer to the Celtic exit after Wednesday’s Champions League second round qualifying return leg against FC Midtjylland in Denmark.

The tie is balanced at 1-1 after last week’s encounter and the French striker could still have a part to play in helping Ange Postecoglou’s side into the next stage where PSV Eindhoven, 5-1 ahead in their tie against Galatasaray, will almost certainly be the opposition.

Brighton, who have just raked in £50million after selling England international defender Ben White to Arsenal, will step up their £20million move for Edouard this week, according to the Daily Mail.

Postecoglou has already stated he will not stand in the way of unhappy players leaving Parkhead and Krtistoffer Ajer got his wish with his £13.5million switch to Brentford last week. Vakoun Issouf Bayo (KAA Gent), Jack Hendry (Oostende) and Marian Shved (Mechelen) have also left in recent times.

Graham Potter, the Premier League team’s manager, is a long-term admirer of Edouard and made his initial move seven days ago, as CQN reported.

It is understood he will wait until the Euro tie is completed before formalising an offer, with Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Increasingly, though, it looks as though the 23-year-old forward’s time in Glasgow is coming to an end after his £9million arrival from Paris Saint Germain in June 2018.
