CELTIC’S proposed £2million deal for Ivory Coast winger Jocelin Ta Bi is OFF.

The anticipated move for the 20-year-old forward has been scuppered due to fitness issues.

The transfer stalled following medical tests reportedly revealed an issue that would require surgery, according to The Herald.

Martin O’Neill has admitted the squad need strengthening and he requires recruits who will be able to hit the ground running in the second half of a turbulent campaign.

BACK ON THE BALL…Sebastian Tounekti was impressive in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Dundee United.

The champions may well review the situation in the summer, but, for the time being, anyway, Ta Bi will remain with Israeli outfit Maccabi Netanya.

O’Neill’s playing resources were supplemented last week with the return of wide Bhoys Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha after their counties exited the African Cup of Nations.

The Tunisian was impressive during his 72 minutes of the 4-0 win over Dundee United at Parkhead at the weekend before being replaced by evergreen James Forrest.

So far Mexico international right-back Julian Araujo is the only arrival in this window following his short-term loan switch from Bournemouth.
