£3.5m MISFIT ADMITS CELTIC ‘DREAM’

CELTIC’S £3.5million misfit Luis Palma has revealed he wants a second chance at the champions.

The 26-year-old winger, bought from Greek club Aris Thessaloniki in August 2023, is currently on loan at Polish outfit Lech Poznan after agreeing a season-long loan in the summer.

Before that move, Palma spent the second half of the previous campaign at Olympiacos.

Coincientally, his last Premiership outing for the Hoops came against Sunday’s opponents Dundee when he figured in a 3-3 draw at Dens Park on January 14 2025. Just over two weeks later, he played in the 4-2 Champions League loss against Aston Villa before his rapid return to Greece.

Clearly, Palma had no future at the Hoops during Brendan Rodgers’ reign, despite scoring 10 goals in his debut campaign.

ON THE RUN…Luis Palma evades a challenge from Dundee defender Ryan Astley during Celtic’s 3-3 draw at Dens Park in January 2025 – the Honduran’s last Premiership appearance.

Unfortunately, the ball-playing outside-left could not maintain that form second time around and, following firing blanks in 12 appearances, he was on his way.

Palma, who signed a five-year deal when he joined the Parkhead club, believes he has some unfinished business in the east end of Glasgow.

He has had a measure of success in Poland with six goals in 25 outings. There is an option to buy in the contract, but it is likely the wide boy will be outwith Lech’s financial reach.

Palma, who is poised to pick up his 34th cap when Honduras play Peru in a friendly in Spain this evening, admitted: “At Celtic, I had a great time. I enjoyed it a lot.

“I want to have a second chance. I have a contract with them, I’m still part of the club and if they say I have to return, I’ll do it in the best way possible.”

Palma, speaking to local media outlet Alvaro De La Rocha, added: “My dream is to return to a high-performance league. For me, the Scottish league was a high-performance one.

“I got to play where every player wants to play, which was the Champions League.

“That dream hasn’t died yet. I want to feel that sensation again.”
