CELTIC’S £3.5million misfit Luis Palma has seen a proposed move to Rayo Vallecano scuppered after the La Liga outfit were hit by a shock transfer ban.

The Honduran international winger is heading for the Hoops exit and has started only twive in his 10 appearances this season.

The Spanish club were said to be in talks with the champions about a loan-to-buy switch, as CQN reported last week.

However, any hopes of pushing through the deal were vetoed after FIFA imposed a three-window signing restriction on the Madrid side club over an £85,000 debt.

SMILES BETTER…Luis Palma congratulates Anthony Ralston after Celtic’s final goal in the opening-day 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead in August.

The news will be a blow to the player who netted 10 goals and assisted in 10 others in his debut campaign following his move from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in June 2023 on a five-year contract.

The 24-year-old flanker has also been linked with clubs in Italy, Germany and France while there were also reports Olympiakos were showing an interest in taking him back to Greece.

Brendan Rodgers, speaking to the Scottish Sun, admitted: “I spoke to Luis just the other day, he’s a great guy and everyone loves him here.
