FORMER £3.8million Celtic misfit Marc-Antoine Fortune could be heading for Ipswich Town.

Portman Road boss Mick McCarthy, the ex-Hoops defender, has been eyeing the misfiring marksman.

The 33-year-old striker signed for Wigan in 2013 and has claimed only five goals in 53 outings, two of them this season.

McCarthy, though, could still make a move as he tries to beef up his attack with the East Anglian side chasing a Premier League promotion place.

Former Parkhead gaffer Tony Mowbray splashed the cash when he bought Fortune to Glasgow from West Brom in July 2010. .

However, after scoring just 10 goals in 32 outings he returned to the Hawthorns for a cut-price £2million a year later.

He was allowed to leave at the end of his contract with the Midlands club after claiming a measly six goals in 62 appearances and joined Wigan.
