AUSTON TRUSTY will be banned for three Premiership games after Celtic’s appeal against his red card in the 2-1 weekend home loss to Hibs at Parkhead was rejected by the SFA.
The central defender was banished with the score tied at 1-1 in the 74th minute after an incident with opponent Jamie McGrath as they lined up for a right-wing corner-kick as the Hoops looked for a second goal.
The Edinburgh club’s midfielder attempted to get a hold of Trusty’s shirt and the American knocked his arm away.
Referee Matthew MacDermid took no action, but Grant Irvine, on VAR duty, intervened to send the match official to the touchline monitor.

SEEING RED…Auston Trusty is about to be dismissed by referee Matthew MacDermid as Martin O’Neill looks on from the touchline.
The whistler returned and flashed the red card, apparently for “violent conduct”.
The Hoops lodged an appeal against a wrongful dismissal, but, following a fast-track meeting, the SFA stood by the original decision, according to the Daily Record.
It was the second time this season Trusty has received his marching orders following his ordering-off in the 2-2 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle last month after another VAR interruption.
The USA international centre-back will now miss Sunday’s visit to Ibrox, the match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie three days later and the visit of Motherwell on Saturday March 14.
He will, however, be clear to face Danny Ruhl’s side in the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie in Govan on March 8.
