£3m MISFIT GETS HOOPS BOOT

CELTIC’S £3million misfit Eboue Kouassi has been told he can leave the champions.

The Hoops had been hoping to loan the Ivorian midfielder to another club before the midnight deadline.

However, it now looks as though Kouassi, who has made only 19 appearances since his move from Russian outfit Krasnodar in January last year, will be allowed to go for free.

The 20-year-old is surplus to requirements after to failing to impress boss Brendan Rodgers who is attempting to slim down his top-heavy squad.

Kouassi, who still has three years to run on his contract, had the opportunity to shine against Hearts at Tynecastle earlier this month, but unfortunately he was ineffective and there was no surprise when he received the hook to be replaced by Tom Rogic.

A goal from Kyle Lafferty inflicted a 1-0 defeat on the Parkhead outfit.

He was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with FK Suduva last week, but his Hoops days were numbered when Rodgers signed 31-year-old Congolese international enforcer Youssouf Mulumbu on a two-year deal earlier today.

It didn’t help Kouassi’s cause that he was eclipsed by the new Bhoy when Celtic played Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in February.

Mulumbu bossed the middle of the park and scored the only goal of the game and once again the youngster didn’t last 90 minutes before being substituted.

Marvin Compper, signed for £1,3million from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in January, has played only 83 minutes in the first team and could also be heading for the Parkhead exit.
