CELTIC 0 ANDERLECHT 1

CELTIC are through to the Europa League knock-our stages – but this was not a memorable European night at Parkhead.

This was possibly one of the worst performances since Brendan Rodgers took over from Ronny Deilia.

To sum things up, Jozo Simunovic headed past Craig Gordon for the only goal of the game.

The Hoops are through, but this was not an inspiring display. Far from it.

Rodgers tired to freshen things up at the interval when he put on Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham for the ineffectual Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong.

However, there was no getting away from the fact this was a poor performance from the champions.

They rarely threatened Frank Booechx in the the Beligian goal and they can be thankful they did the job in Brussels.

It’s not the Celtic way, indeed it is well short of that. We’ll hopefully invest in January as we are in need of improvement on the European stage.

Few will have much hope of progressing very far in the Europa League but Brendan might influence that in the window. We certainly hope so.

CQN Man of the Match – Scott Brown.
