Lessons to learn for tonight

210

While I want a win, or a clean sheet, what I would really like to see is evidence of what we have learned since Anderlecht ran through us in Glasgow two months ago. We have a genuine chance to eliminate a stronger opponent and reach the last 16 of the Europa League, but merely hoping the same strategy that was so overwhelmingly ineffective at home to PSG, Bayern and Anderlecht, will work better this time, is not going to cut it.

Let’s keep it tight until late in the game, when Zenit’s energy levels will be stretched. I also think we get more out of Forrest, Sinclair and Dembele with space to exploit in the forward third. I know we are unpractised at this, but, all going well, we will face far stronger opponents in September, when a polished rear-guard action will definitely be needed.

Today’s lesson: how to defend against skillful opponents.

I just assumed everyone had gone to the BV to meet EUROCHAMPS67!

Astana getting a taste of their own medicine – i.e playing a team in middle of their season whilst astana first game back from a long break.

    Hopefully Zenit will suffer similar.

Hankray – maybe they get protection from ref

There will be a posting frenzy if we get an unfavourable result.

But that’s not going to happen. We are going to surprise a few negatonians. Touch wood.

  5. Gene,

Hopefully it will be a Moussa night. How to restore your value in 90 minutes.

    HH & COYBIG.

  6. So the sfa are going to employ a drunk hun as their manager, a drunk hun who has already failed in the job, that’s me 50% on the way to walking away from the game, I hate them for making me hate them.

  7. Right here we go. I drive (it’s Lent) and The Bhoy fancies a detour via the ole Sp in field V ults ;-)

    Enjoy!

A bit harsh if you don’t mind me saying. I know died in the wool tims who assure me McLeish is a decent guy.

I do think it’s a backward step influenced by the fact nobody wants the job .

Who do you think would be enticed to the job with the package on offer.

    Cheers & HH.

Why hate them, pal? I know what you mean, but personally,I just “pity the suckers”!

Not had more than one conversation with my pals in Kilwinning about football since they went bust. And we used to wind each other up something rotten.

Says it all, they know. And they know we know too. At least we can have pride in our club.

£600k and a huge expenses account, name about six squads a season?

    Geezajob,I can do that!

The truth hurts sometimes, he is a drunk, I know that for a fact, the fact that he may or not be a decent bloke has feck all to do with anything, they are about to employ a drunk who has already failed in the job.

Europe is full of coaches who would do the job for the wages on offer, I would also wager that 99% of them won’t be alcoholics.

  12. BMCUW,

Spending time in the boozer today waiting on others to finish work got me thinking.

I could never walk away from Celtic regardless of circumstances. It would betray the mother and uncle’s who took me from 4 years old.

    HH.

Canny help it, had too much crap from them in the past, this was the chance to clean up the game, looks like we are going backwards, so it will be no more from this Tim if they replace Regan with a hun, which is looking on the cards.

They bring out the worst in me.

  14. On pundit duty recently, Eck didn’t look too well and was also a little incoherent I thought. I’m surprised (but also not surprised) they’ve gone for him.

  15. D17

As expected, decked out in the white, beaming like a Cheshire Cat, non stop telling me how good they were, when I pointed out a few things to him he didn’t waver, prob didn’t hear a word I said to him, he was as high as a kite.

For all my reputation on here as a mineshafter, you’d be amazed at how many people over the years that I’ve persuaded to renew their ticket.

As far as I’m concerned,if you can make the games, can afford it,you go. I would love to be in that situation.

My criticism of the board does not detract from my love of Celtic. We’ll be there-“they’re always there!”-long after other people aren’t.

Like yourself,I was brung up right!!!

  17. We have to assume Eck is fit and healthy to be offered the job. The thing is his record as a Manager is poor, he’s been out of work for a while, whoring himself at any job that comes up and he walked out on Scotland the last time he had the job. He strikes me as the kind of guy the modern game has long passed by. A poor appointment that will not end well imo.

Don’t do yourself down, bud. You’re retired, little to occupy your time, live in a land of really cheap wine.

If you had more to occupy your time,I expect you wouldn’t drink so much.

Alcoholism isn’t habit-which you have got into. It’s a physical need.

I’ve said many a time that if I had the time and the money,I’d be an alcoholic. My kid sis will roast me for putting this on here. But I’m not. Can’t drink on a Wednesday and Thursday due to extended shifts, and sit wi an abacus and a stopwatch other days.

You’re not an alcoholic,K. Just a habitual drinker. But maybe time to pretend you’ve got a driving job like mine.

Above not a critisism, mate. You know me better than that. It’s certainly not a suggestion on how to live a good life either!!!

    But,give it a thought…
