WATFORD have slapped a £4million price tag on Scotland winger Ikechi Anya.
And that will almost certainly end Celtic’s reported interest in the 27-year-old Glaswegian.
Anya has only one year left on his contract at the newly-promoted Premier League outfit and can walk away for free in 12 months. But it appears Watford will take a gamble and attempt to cash in on the player whose club form last season didn’t match his performances for his country.
The frontman has been a consistently excellent performer for Gordon Strachan and he set up Shaun Maloney for his goal which won Scotland a point against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin only moments after coming on as a second-half substitute.
New Watford manager Quique Flores will want to bring in his own players and it is understood that some of those who helped win the club promotion last season will be moved on to allow the squad to be added to over the upcoming transfer window.
But he is also adamant that Anya, previously thought to be valued at £2million, will not leave for a bargain fee.
