5 games in December, 5 poor results to avenge

833

Celtic have five games still to play this month against teams they have recorded two draws, three defeats and no wins against this season.  Hearts and Rangers conformably recorded home wins against Celtic while St Johnstone won at Celtic Park.  Udinese were fortunate to escape Glasgow with a point thanks to a late penalty, while Kilmarnock demonstrated their unpredictability by taking, then losing, a three goal lead.

There was a bit of optimistic chat over the weekend that three of our next four league games are at home but these are the teams we need to beat to win the league.  If Celtic come through this month unscathed in domestic football they will win the league, but despite current good form, this will be a huge challenge, starting against Hearts at 15:00 on Saturday.

I do know that the first time I ever saw a Celtic player in ‘gutties’ was on a frozen hard Celtic Patk in January ’65.

I think that was the 5-1 game (0-1 at HT) against the Govan side in Jan. ’66.

The pair that nobody has come up with was a Rangers winger of the early 60’s & his brother who played for Hibs.

    FRITZSONG,

Take my word for it. I was working for the Prudential in Dalmarnock & had been up at the ground 2 or 3 times on the Saturday morning trying to find out if the game was going ahead. Thankfully, it did.

Great memories of that 8-0 game v Aberdeen. Yogi wore sannies as poncy trainers hadnae been invented then. Nae undersoil heating either, so the pitch was protected with bales of straw wich were all moved to the side before K.O. only to find that they didnae work at all and the pitch was like a skating rink! Yogi was the only one who could keep his feet!

I predict good times ahead for the young fella when it comes to enjoying Celtic, he is in the process of setting up a move back to scotland, the work side of things is sorted, accomadation will have to be worked on.

Problem is he wants to live in Glasgow, he will do what he wants to do, but I think he is too rabid for Glasgow, just my opinion.

  10. Sorry to hark back to the financial elephant in the Scottish football room but this has been bothering me for a while.

The buyout agreement between MIH and Rangers FC Group seems like an odd arrangement. Why would anyone desperate to rid themselves of what is clearly a toxic asset have any interest in what the buyer does with it? And more importantly, why would Murray expend sizeable legal fees in enforcing a contract, the key element of which has been performed – the handover of responsibility for Rangers debts.

If Whyte has taken a change of mind following European results (that is if if he ever intended to waive debts, provide a front loaded warchest etc.) what would realistically prevent him from breaching the buyout agreement in the knowledge that the other side are unlikely to have the money or inclination to enforce it.

I have no background in corporate law or contractual obligations so forgive me if these all have simple or obvious answers.

Huge game at Paradise on Saturday. Hope everyone who can get along makes the effort as we have a big month ahead of us. Glad that Joe Ledley is looking like being fit as he is a very under-rated player for us I feel.

Craig Whyte has done nothing illegal or benefited from the EBT’s. MIH and their Board of Directors have much interest in winning this appeal. Why else would Murray remove his personal fortune from these shores to Ireland. Think damage limitation.

I think the answer is that nobody knows what is happening.

The EBT’s are tied in with MIH, the agreement was that MIH would foot the legal bills, they have much more to lose than the hun btw.

    Big Joe,

If you want to bestow such a persona on me, thats your perogative, I dont see myself as a “big hard man” or even a cyberbully, my debating skills leave a bit to be desired and I get a bit carried away, but then, I am passionate about a lot of the topics we discuss on here. Especially freedom and equality.

However my most recent stuff is quality, and if Celtic supporters want to absolve the hun of any responsibility for their illgotten gains, then those tims need to question their own motives, not me, for me its black and white, its too profound.

As for yer good few Celtic fans, I prefer good Celtic fans myself, kitchen and heat spring to mind.

I reckon I’ve upset a good few huns as well.

Praise the lord and all his mates lol– that was bothering me ha ha.

Very hard to decipher either what Whyte is up to or the reasoning behind the sale contract. I do not hold all the details– others over on the RTC blog know far more than I— but as far as I can see it says clearly that if Rangers have not suffered an Insolvency event within 90 days of the Big Tax case being determined, then the debt owed by Rangers PLC to Whyte/Wavetower/Rangers Football Group Ltd or whatever ceases to be a debt and so becomes an investment.

Further, it makes it quite plain that Rangers PLC will take no part in the Big Tax Case and that all negotiation and conduct of that case shall be conducted through MIH alone.

So I surmise that Murray is looking after Murray in the big case and potentially Rangers PLC will be hung out to dry with a finding against them but not necessarily MIH. In that event, if HMRC take action to wind up, or Whyte chooses to call in a receiver under the Floating charge within the three month period, then Whyte is a preferred creditor and can walk away with some loot.

If Rangers PLC were to win the tax case (unlikely I think ) or the liability was one that could be paid etc, and no one attempts to wind the company up, then Whyte has to leave his money in as an investment.

I personally believe that it would suit the Murray camp to see the club go bust in one shape or form before the tax case is determined at all– (Hence actions and arrestments by Bain, McIntyre and so on) because it could then be said that the club goig bust had absolutely nothing to do with the old board and their workings and benefit trusts and the whole calamity could be blamed on Whyte and his team.

The big problem would be if anyone other than HMRC did the winding up, because some fan forum was asked how far you would have to go to be safe from angry Rangers fans if you wound up the business and brought about an end of the club. Apparently the response was that you could go to the moon and it still wouldn’t be far enough!

If the snow kicks in and there are no games at Ibrox for a few weeks then wee Craig is definitely in the Whyte alright unless he can inject or borrow more money.

He is an integral part of the team and has stood up to be counted in recent weeks.

The sublime, offside beating, defense splitting pass he put through for young JF was amazing – worth a goal and the wee man wont miss a chance like that next time.

  23. ANNAOAN & BRTH,

Cheers for the responses guys. I can understand Murray wanting some element of control over the tax case as he stands to lose from that as well. The lack of investment was debated on RTC and whether Murray would step in to enforce this and I think that would be difficult – Whyte could claim that the investment terms have any number of different interpretations and Murray would have to find the inclination and funds to raise proceedings.

The 90 day thing is probably a red herring as the tax case does seem to be going against them and an insolvency event of some kind has been expected for some time. In other words, there is no way the money allegedly paid to Lloyds will be written off by Whyte. There will be no breach of that term of the buyout agreement as the 90 days will never pass without an insolvency event.

Signing off for the night folks. Will pick up tomorrow.

I agree – I was happy we landed Stokes his record at Falkirk and Hibs pointed towards a good return of goals and he has delivered..plenty on here bemoaned his signing…

I think he’s a more mature player this year – he’s a great ‘feeder’ of goal chances to Hooper, more so than the other way round, I might add. His only real weakness is pace but I think he’s fast enough for SPL..

The lad is having a smashing season…I have a sneaking feeling he’ll pip Hooper on the goal front…

  25. CultsBhoy hates being 2nd on

    …more on Stokes..

I’d be inclined to nurture AS as 1st choice as I think he’ll be at Celtic longest of the current striking options – his lack of pace virtually garauntees this..

If I were MON I’d be looking at Hooper as Sunderland need a poacher and GH does have the pace for EPL…even better MON should be looking at Jelavic!
