5 games in December, 5 poor results to avenge

833

Celtic have five games still to play this month against teams they have recorded two draws, three defeats and no wins against this season.  Hearts and Rangers conformably recorded home wins against Celtic while St Johnstone won at Celtic Park.  Udinese were fortunate to escape Glasgow with a point thanks to a late penalty, while Kilmarnock demonstrated their unpredictability by taking, then losing, a three goal lead.

There was a bit of optimistic chat over the weekend that three of our next four league games are at home but these are the teams we need to beat to win the league.  If Celtic come through this month unscathed in domestic football they will win the league, but despite current good form, this will be a huge challenge, starting against Hearts at 15:00 on Saturday.

  1. Morning CQNer’s.

    Just read the statement…..

Either we’re firing the 1st volley or, it’s another version of the criticism about cheating refs by…a source ???mmmm

What I want to know is, why don’t these executives who aren’t slow to pick-up their salary but, don’t seem to be capable/willing to, execute required protocol ?

The hierarchy of Celtic FC…PLEASE grow a pair!

You can’t be surely? You were last week’s bully.

I think everybody should move on and criticise the true bully that is getting its just desserts.

“your very good pal” I’ve never met Big Joe or even debated with him on here. I would regard myself as being more a pal of yours than big Joe’s as I have debated with you. We’ve agreed and disagreed previously – and normally without the need to throw insults.

As for agenda, you’re making things up in your head, but since you’re so clear on my agenda maybe you could share it with me.

I understand you met the FatBhoys on Friday and they speak highly of you, I would suggest your posts should reflect their opinion of you rather than the alternative view held by big joe.

The only fair way of dealing with the Aluko dive which redresses the wrong done to Dunfermline is to declare the match a 1-1 draw and adjust the points accordingly. I think we’ll see pigs flying across two blue moons first though.

    BJmac…,

agreed our discussions have been a decent quality and enjoyable.

the agenda I see is that canamalar is a bad bully and “pathetic” too boot, your word, absolutely nothing about big joe opening this argument with his personal attacks.

Again most people on here know I’m no going to take it lying or even sitting down, so when somebody rouses me, IMO they know exactly what they are doing and the consequences for the blog, but IYO I should just bare my bum for the good of the blog, is that gong to happen ??

BJmac, you’ve defended big joe and made me out the devil, without acknowledging the history of this spat, right away you defended big joe. As far as I’m concerned that smacks of agenda.

  7. Anybody who happened to hear Tam Cowan on Radio Scotland at lunchtime on Sunday,

would have heard him saying that he did not see the Aluko dive but had taken a look at the Motherwell

fans’ web-site. The unanimous verdict there was that it was a STONEWALL penalty.

    So there we are.

Motherwell fans had no axe to grind over this decision, so we can only assume that we are being harsh in

    condemning Aluko.

I will take it upon myself to apologise for our paranoid reaction.

    Case dismissed.

  8. Ernie Lynch (from yesterday) sorry I didn’t reply earlier mate.

I think the Ooh Aah stuff from the C.S could technically be argued to be simply song lyrics rather than overt “support” of the cause, but I think we both know that it would be a bit disengenious.

Some other CQN’r with a better understanding than me mentioned that it was a bit fly of the Wolfetones to stick that line in. They knew what they were doing alright I reckon.

I see with astonishment that Preston have appointed Peter Ridsdale as their new Chariman.

Following his dissolving of Leeds in a bath of 10 molar debt, and his success at running up £66M of debt while fighting off 5 (five!) winding up orders at Cardiff City, his brief and traumatic period at Barnsley, and his even more brief and traumatic period at Plymouth, one can only suppose that the shareholders of Preston believe that the club needs to spend more time in the grubber, and that the fans have just had it too good in recent years.

That’s an absolute non-starter or you’d need to apply that to every game where a goal resulted from a bad decision.

“Celtic will be contacting the organisations in question to ensure that such reporting is corrected.”

IMO an absolutely pathetic response to a well orchistrated campaign, I am under no illusion the the board fully support the current campaign against the Celtic support, they are clearthe board and the support are two very different entities and they are involved in an all too common scottish speciallity of pointing fingers and squealling loudest. Had they backed the support over the hampden/bbc issue we would not be here.

  14. Why anyone is surprised at Yorkston’s comments is beyond me.

Big Sutty had that tosser bang to rights.

However, it has to be said he doesnt claim Aluko didnt dive, just that he doesnt want him banned for games against teams he obviously sees as their direct opponents in their fight against relegation (would love that to happen just for him!)

Actually he might have something there…..when a player blatantly cheats against you and directly affects the result of the game, rather than ban him for upcoming games, why not ban him for the next game(s) against you?

    Punishment fitting the crime???

Wont happen of course…………….. and perhaps just as well, as we would almost certainly see the number of Celtic players red cards for “cheating” rise dramatically in derby games!

This is my final post on this matter.

No agenda, whatsoever because I criticise/disagree a post of yours doesn’t mean you should assume I approve the posts of the person you argue with.

I asked Big Joe to drop it.

Your posts to him were childish & pathetic and not worthy of you or this blog. That doesn’t mean I’m defending him or I thought his posts were insightful or witty or showed remarkable intelligence, it means I disagreed with your posts. From what I could see you were the one trying to continue something that was finished. At no point did I make you out to be the devil while defending Joe, you’ve made that up.

Get back to your posting and debating like you normally do, there is no need for the on blog fighting, irrespective who starts it – rise above. Anyway, the subject is closed from my perspective, hopefully this has no impact on our dialogue moving forward. I like being bullied ;-)

cheers mate. the ‘neutral’ press at least, should be saying for the good of the game, all divers should be punished severly as a deterrent. what has changed for them ? i know they have always been more favourable etc… but that dive on saturday, wasn’t even a close descision. outright cheating…………and they are happy for him to have a retrospective yellow card

  24. Today’s statement from the club is better late than never I suppose but had they done this after the Cup Final lies from Rob MacLean and Pat Nevin on BBC scotland we wouldn’t be here now; its ridiculous how all our clubs supporters (not just the Green Brigade) have been wrongly tarred as “sectarian” by a media, police and government that clearly has no idea what the word actually means.

  25. Is there a league table anywhere of how the SPL would look if all the incidents of simulation and honest mistakes were stripped out?

Which team would come off worst?

  26. The fact that Aluko dived is now accepted by virtually everyone. I have not spoke to a Hun who has not even had to be cajoled into accepting the fact.

New rules were brought in to deal with such this year. Gary O’Connor was found guilty and then won his appeal. I am not aware of any dispute whether if found guilty and the suspension involved but there was plenty of ridicule when he won his appeal.

The fact that there is now an orchestrated campaign to ensure that Aluko is not suspended highlights the absolute bias that we are up against. There is not even pretence on the matter.

Further the whole anti-diving campaign is one inspired by Mr G Smith of Govan and yet his slience to date is deafening.

The argument is surely one of intent and actual. If the player intended to cheat as is caught in the process of the game then a booking suffices. If his cheating has conned/been cheered by the MIB then there is a more severe punishment. If you offered TFOD a point and no suspension or 3 points and a supension then there is no doubt that what they would chose.
