£5m TARGET: LUBO’S VERDICT

LEGENDARY Lubo Moravcik has given his seal of approval to Celtic target Andraz Sporar.

The former midfield maestro insists the Slovan Bratislava striker is the best player in Slovakia and could fit into the champions’ first-team squad.

Sporar has been linked with the Hoops for the past month after netting 20 goals in 26 appearances and the former Basel and Armenia Bieldfield hitman has already held talks with the Parkhead outfit.

Ivan Kmotrik, the Slovan supremo, has already told Scotland’s title kings to move swiftly if they hope to complete a deal in the £5million region with Sporting Lisbon, Bristol City and Qatar club Al-Gharafa also on the trail, as CQN reported.

Moravcik, currently head of youth at his hometown club FC Nitra, has keenly followed the progress of 25-year-old Sporar and has no doubts about the attacker’s credentials.

The Hoops icon, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “Sporar is the top player in Slovakia.

“He was excellent in the Europa League this season with Slovan Bratislava and scored six goals in the competition and is in very good form.

“He is very strong physically, quick and he is good in front of goal, he makes good decisions in that area. He has got the potential to score a lot of goals for Celtic.

“He is not the tallest, but he knows how to score with his head as well as his feet. He is good in the challenge and is fast and direct.

“At Celtic, with good players around him, he will score goals. I’m sure of that.

“I think Sporar is similar to Odsonne Edouard who is not so tall, but is quick, direct and excellent in front of goal. He would maybe be a good option for Celtic if Edouard were to move on.

“He is in his second season with Bratislava, but has already played abroad in Switzerland and Germany. However, I’m not sure he would be happy to be a second striker.

“I believe he is looking for a club where he would be number one.

“Imagine you are used to playing every week and now you change club and have to wait for your chance.

“Every player must move club to play and not be on the bench – that’s my opinion.

“So maybe if Edouard were to leave then Sporar would be an ideal replacement.”
