BENFICA’S £6.5million-rated winger Filipe Jota will agree a season-long loan move to Celtic today.

The 22-year-old Portuguese touchline ace will be in Glasgow for a medical before completing the necessary transfer forms ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

The Hoops will have the right to make the switch permanent if Jota impresses during his stay at the club, according to the Daily Record.

Boss Ange Postecoglou is desperate to add width to his squad with James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele, in what was hoped to be the exciting teenager’s breakthrough campaign, are all struggling with a variety of injuries.

Jota, who hasn’t figured in the Lisbon club’s top side, spent last season on loan with Real Vallodolid in La Liga, scoring once in 17 appearances.

Postecoglou views the wide man as a valuable addition to his pool of players as he attempts to add strength in depth to cover all contingencies, as CQN reported at the weekend.

Jota will become the gaffer’s eighth major signing since arriving in June and Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis is also ready to pen a £2.5million four-year contract from Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo.
