CELTIC are demanding a fee of around £8million for frozen-out Alexandro Bernabei who joined SC Nacional on loan in March.
The Argentinian left-back has impressed in his 18 appearances, claiming three goals and three assists during his temporary stint at the Brazilian club.
Bernabei’s terms are due to expire at the end of December and, according to a report in South American media outlet Portal Colorado, the champions are looking for 10million euros – which equates to around £8million – for the 24-year-old defender.
NOW YOU SEE ME…Alexandro Bernabei in action during the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie in February, the Argentinian left-back’s last appearance for Celtic.
It’s an ambitious price tag from the Hoops hierarchy, but, unfortunately, it looks as though there will be some tough negotiating ahead with the South Americans unlikely to agree with that valuation.
The biggest fee they have paid in recent times is £5.5million for Colombian international striker Rafael Borre from Eintracht Frankfurt last season.
Bernabei cost £3.75million when he arrived in Glasgow from Argentinian top-flight side Lanus in an over-priced move in July 2022.
He is under contract at Parkhead until June 2027, but it is highly unlikely he will return to see it through.
There is the possibility of another extended loan period for the player who clearly has no future at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers.
