May is not out, the manager is not formally in place yet, but there’s an early bit of transfer rumblings underway as Celtic begin the process of building a squad for an attack on The Nine.
In response to speculation linking Celtic to one of his players, Motherwell chief exec, Alan Burrows, wrote on Twitter, “figures in papers are often educated stabs and not a true reflection on either what one/any club might be prepared to pay or the other might be prepared to accept.”
In short, any inquiry from Celtic for David Turnbull is at an early stage and conversations will not be around the figures reported.
We have 93 days like this until the transfer window closes….
Like you, I enjoyed watching Patrick Roberts. He is a gifted player and good professional. His could have been a permanent signing for Celtic but Pep Guardiola had other ideas. Now he has signed a new contract, keeping him at at Manchester City for another three years, a club he will almost certainly never play competitively for, while simultaneously agreeing to a one year loan at newly promoted Norwich.
It is hard to escape agricultural metaphors when watching what the tier one clubs in England do with young talent. They are a crop to hoard and sell, not to consume. City paid Fulham £12m for Patrick four years ago. His new contract will be worth several millions per year, and when his value is right, they will sell him. This is a business model, independent of first team considerations.
A season in the English Premier League could be enough to raise a fee in excess of £20m, but there is a risk going to Norwich. Patrick’s talents are most valuable unlocking packed defences. Players of craft are less valued the further down the league you go, where robustness and counter-attacking football has become mandatory.
He would contribute his share in that Manchester City squad, or at Celtic, but his bit-part season at relegated Girona is a portent of what could lie ahead for him in Norwich. At least he’ll be able to catch the tunes on North Norfolk Digital.

My local , The Commercial, is very near the harbour and many of the regulars are Celtic supporters but I cannot think of any Pub that I would actually describe as a ` Celtic Pub`. Naturally, some have more Tims/Arabs/Sevcoites/Dons than others but I cannot think of any that are exclusively associated with one team ( apart from Tutties Neuk on Red Lichties match days).

When I hear people talk of abuse of children and refer to the Catholic Church and/or Celtic, I quickly discover that they have no interest in the abusers nor in the victims but only in the Church and the football team.

Thanks for your response.
Someone said the other day ( on here) that BR wanted to win everything but such was not the case with Lennie.
How does this quote sit with that poster`s view:
” Asked what challenges lie ahead, Lennon said: “Trying to win a fourth treble.”

Just to let you all know that i’m not a member of the dark web and i won’t
be giving you a call to buy your shares in this wonderful club of ours, i’ve
got enough of my own, but it really does mystify me about this magical place
called Celtic.
So many people over the years have found a sympathetic post from the other
side of the world whether it’s from Bangladesh or Benidorm, Melbourne or
Montrose, the Celtic family always come through and i know we have our
posters with a rather negative attitude but thats only my opinion and i like to
think they are only being mindful of any nefarious actions of our board.
But they are Celtic and so are we.

BSR @ 1:50 PM,
Yes, I think your right, the Board have put themselves central to these appointments and to the transfer process.
If there is a failure this season, it will be the Board that the support will look too for answers.
It should incentivise them to ensure that doesn’t happen.
When I’ve criticised our transfer policy and implementation my point has centred on the systemic issues.
Some have taken that to mean a direct criticism of Big Pedro. Now as he is the chap who is responsible for the systems there’s a point. It’s not what I mean though.
My feelings is that our player management is about a revenue stream rather than squad management. Prospects and loanees are brought in, often not a good fit, even when successful there are issues.
VvD and Deneyar were an example, they were never sufficiently replaced and put a hole at the centre of our defence. You could argue we are still seeing the repruccusions today.
Dembele was the same last Season, a void up front that cost in both in terms of performance and results.
Contrast that with Fraser Foster, when he went we promoted the very capable, very experienced Craig Gordon and it was relatively seamless – that works.
Using players as a revenue stream has to be tempered. If we bring in the right players and manage the squad correctly players leaving for better leagues with high transfer fees will be a by product of a good system, leaving in a controlled way to be properly back filled.
There are other issues but hope you get my drift…
PL has said John Parks knows how we work.
PL has said Neil Lennon knows how we work.
So, you take that on board and you do what yer telt and that’s not going to change come hell or high water.
So me know where we are… we have a good manager in place and we are aiming for a quadruple and a UCL spot.
Happy Days

The abuse of children should never be used to point score regardless of where it took place. The people who commit these type of crimes abuse The trust of The organisations, parents, families and children.
Society is not comfortable when dealing with these issues and The further you go back The more clear that becomes. We tends to judge the action of people in the past by todays standards which is somewhat unfair re: steps to take, action of authorities etc…
Even todays, go report your a victim of domestic abuse from your female partner and see how far you get. In 50 years timei have No doubt the will look back in horror at their position and actions.
i want anyone involved in such activity to be brought to justice. I care not a bit about people who try to make it some kind of point scoring exercise. It does concern me that people are still so norrow minded that they cannot see its an issue across society.

Well Mick, there’s plenty of cowboys still..
I had one do some work in the back yard (not garden my grandaughter’s tell me)
Should have know – he was wearing a black hat.
As for Indians, poor people are long gone – decanted to Colorado or Oklahoma in the 19th century.
But being Amurka they love the thought of quaint people arounf – just not the reality.
Within 30 mins of here we can find town of Indian Trail or the town of Indian Land.
In the grand order of social importance the Native Americans found themselves well down the list somewhere between the Blacks & the Chinese I think.
We have Badlands but that’s just a euphemism.
All in al a bit like Glasgow when you were decanted to the schemes & then found out you were living in the Badlands amongst some cowboys.
Nice idea about the list by the way..

52 years ago, exactly 1 week after we won the Big Cup, Sgt Pepper’s was released on the world. The key to listening it to today (as I’ve just done whilst ironing!!) is to try to imagine that you’re hearing it for the first time. Some of the songs and arrangements must have been mind blowing when first heard in 1967. A worthwhile 40-odd minutes. And it even mentions Pablophanque….

Americans try, but they don’t quite get the beautiful game
Turnball has never grabbed my notice while playing for Motherwell. I feel he is not worth £4m to Celtic. We have offered £1.2. No way should we even go to £2m, unless of course it is to force the price up is Sevco are involved.
Turnball could be of greater \value to likes of Sheffield, villa or Norwich or even Brighton and Burnley. Motherwell might get more from the EPL clubs
No way should the McGinn experience force us to pay over the odds, no way is he worth $4m + wages to Celtic
Would he start before McGregor, Christie, Rogic, N’tcham or Henderson?
