A ‘Grand’ old Kano Foundation

198

Across the globe in Western Aus, our friend and CQN’er, Martin Kane, will hopefully have a warm glow today when he hears that the charitable foundation that bears his name, The Kano Foundation, will this month take its 1000 child through the turnstiles at Celtic Park.

The guys at the Foundation would like to mark this occasion by giving credit where it’s due: “Taking 1000 kids to Celtic Park would NOT be possible without the fantastic support you guys have given us and for that Heartfelt thanks. You have all played an important part in this and should be very proud of your efforts.

“To mark the occasion, our good friend AMAC has re-designed our logo and we would ask that for at least 1 day as many of our online friends would do us the honour of changing their profile picture/avatar to this logo and ask as many of their friends as possible to do the same.

“We sincerely hope you will all join us in celebrating this fantastic achievement.

“We thank you once again for your wonderful support and look forward to seeing sea of KANO avatars.”

You can get the avatar from the Kano Foundation Facebook and Twitter pages.

Been thinking about that for ages, i dont think the team we have at the moment have the pace or energy to hunt in packs like the other teams from our EL group.

There are some players in the team who could do it Broonie and Matthews have it in them but it would all fall apart because of our slow centrebacks. We are a SPL team at the moment on our way up, looking forward to all the injured players returning.

There is a lot more to come out of this team, if we could get in a few pacy players in the right positions then i believe we will qualify for the CL grupp stages next year.

    re the SFA

would and should will no doubt have different answers

Im still of the opinion the 5yr notice starts after the end of the 7 yrs

therefore Whyte should NOT be allowed to be a director of an SPL club

    until 2012

I agree 100% Timtim. The “disqualification within the last 5 years” rule has to be interpreted as a desire to ensure that anyone previously disqualified has proved themselves to be honest and law abiding for five years before becoming director of a football club.

I know that Paul McConville took a legal standpoint that the rule could be interpreted as being from the date of disqualification, but I think he was wrong to do so.

Would you employ someone as a director of a company you own on the first day he was free from disqualification, or would you want him to prove himself for a period?

Morning, just my usual ‘sharp as a tack ‘self :O)

    Not bad for having semi-hangover.

  4. You have to now ask why did rangers not tell stock exchange about whyte being banned hmmm makes you wonder about how corrupt this SFA is if true.

  5. As I don’t really look at the Sun that often what have they done regarding Gary Speed?

As I said before, with that paper it really could be anything.

Probably better time . better places for your first away European game than a Europa Cup game in a cold and wet Udine on a December Thursday night..

I went to my first away European game in 1966 – Liverpool

    A bad night !

  7. Diego is some player by the way . Last night was a masterclass in passing from the brazilian midfield magician.

  8. Not surprised at all that Ragers stayed silent on Craig Whyte’s past, and not a single mention in the media, during the protracted fakeover apart of course from his fantasy billionaire status.

The media in Scotland are completely complicit is the entire mess that they are in, and it’s crystal clear now why the objectors Johnston, Grieg, McClelland, and Bain are all gone.

A tissue of lies, and run by a man with a track record majoring in insolvency.

  9. Three players,GK,CH and Striker, then in my opinion,we would move on to a higher level.

Now that Steve Bruce has been sacked by Sunderland we should move quickly and bring in Westwood.Goalkeeper must be No 1 priority.Slan.

  10. Well done the Kano foundation. I think the 1888 kid should be give a full strip as a present.

    Nay luck Celtic.

Hun finances Mmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……….. and have no time today

  11. A life support system is Kano’s constant companion, without it Kano could not function, he would cease to be. Every single day Kano wakes up he lives out a battle; a battle to be that very few, if any, could even dare to imagine. Every single breath that Kano takes he fights the odds until his next breath; and one by one, his chest rising and falling, Kano defies the odds and makes a mockery of diversity, until tomorrow and Kano goes the next round. The man is the epitome of a fighter.

There is no accolade greater that could bestowed upon the Kano Foundation and those who keep it going other than to say you do it in Kano’s name. Kano lives a daily dream of hope and in his name others bring meaning and memories to those who dream to smile but often don’t know how to. The smile has to be nurtured and encouraged and then celebrated.

Kano’s illness is a tragedy, the Kano Foundation is no less than a man made miracle; a bitter sweet marriage out of which simple joy is conceived, albeit just for a moment….

Kano would like to be well again but in the interim he’ll savour others’ pleasure; especially those who are the least privileged.

Kano is a good man and a Celtic Supporter. The Kano Foundation members are good people and Celtic Supporters. There is nothing more needs be said.

  12. Afternoon bhoys, warm, sun is out and still hun free.

    A wee question.

What is the legal stand point for the hun having a director/owner who is banned, and a follow up question, what is the sfa’s legal position now that they oficially know this ?

this is the latest from Thomas Cook about the flight, if it goes, to Italy.

We are looking to make a decision on confirming this flight on Monday. We have had increased uptake since the matches last night and would like to give people the opportunity to apply in light of they fact that Celtic can still qualify for the group stages.

If the flight sells out before then, we will confirm bookings at that time.

    Kind regards

If Neil Lennon is determined to bring Brown back into the team, it will have to be at the

    expense of Ki.

    …………………

I think it could actually be at the expense of the SPL and his job!

  15. Maybe it is just me but somehow there is something crass about the Sun and its sediment being discussed on a tribute page to those who try so hard, for no gain, to actually bring a wee bit of good into this world.

Maybe Kayal and the other wind bags at Celtic Park will now keep their BIG mouths SHUT in the future!! I knew when I read his stupid boast yesterday it would come back to bite him big time. But maybe its in his 30k a week contract he can duck away from a wee bit leather!!

Thats 2 years wages to some folks!!!

Ps Neil have a word with them ASAP!!!

  17. The night in the gay bar [;/)] with Ramie and Mr Kane Snr was the 2011 highlight for me; a moving and humbling occasion served with lashings of laughter and good humour.

CQN at its best, the Celtic support at their considerable best [ which is pretty damn good!] ; 5* soul food.

On one thing I agree, give the press nothing because they’ll twist it into lies – Kayal says Celtic are better than Rangers in every department. At no time did Kayal say this.

All the boy said was he hoped we won everything in Scotland and that we progressed in Europe – nowt wrong wi that. He didn’t say definitely in any of it in this regard.

He did say he felt we played the best football last season and also that we had the best squad of players in the league. I find either statement hard to disagree with and I have no issue with confidence.

Sorry, Jude, but that is one mean-spirited post.

  22. I agree with Snake. The name of the game is to sell newspapers. The biggest group they can sell to is Rangers fans, therefore they are as inclined to paint Celtic in a bad light as CQN is to paint Rangers in a bad light (which Rangers deserve).

It was interesting listening to Radio Scotland for the first time this season immediately after Kilmarnock beat Rangers 1-0 on Sunday. I switched on to confirm the final score. There was quite a light mood. Pascali’s interview was very funny and even though Kenny Shiels went all preachy when he was talking to Chic Young, there was humour between them too. At the end, Chic asked Kenny Shiels if he was planning to have a wee drink to celebrate the result and Kenny Shiels said: “I will if you’re buying again.”

Now, it occurred to me at the time that if I had been listening to this treatment of Kilmarnock if Celtic had been the losing team at Rugby Park it would have infuriated me. I might have said: “How dare the Kilmarnock captain show such disrespect to his opponents?” Or, “again? So Chic Young is in the habit of enertaining the Kilmarnock manager before they face Celtic. They are all thick as thieves.”

However, the bottom line is that if we had lost that match, the last thing I’d have been doing was listening to Sportsound. CQN is bad enough in such circumstances. The last thing I want from Sportsound is negative stuff about Celtic, which brings me back to Sunday being the first time I listened to them this season. For the same reason, I have not bought a Scottish newspaper for at least five years and don’t imagine I ever will again.

But if I am typical, it means the newspapers have nothing to lose by printing garbage about Celtic, and just as I tuned in to Sportsound for some (mildly, in this case) negative stuff about Rangers, the newspapers clearly realise their treatment of Celtic gives them a chance to pick up Rangers-supporting readers. They deserve each other.

I thought Kayal was one of our better players last night. Im not back tracking by the way. But to duck out of the way was just plain stupid!!

So ,the Athletico players beat us ,because of what Kayal supposed to have said?

Don’t know about you,but I have never been ridiculed by a hun,for one

they do not have the intelligence ,for two ,the wit.

Hail hail ,do not slag the Celts ,there are enough halfwits in ole Scotia trying that.

  26. I thought Beram Kayal ducked out of the way of the ball too. I don’t think he did it because he was scared of the ball, I think he did it because he thought the keeper had it. A bad, bad mistake in my opinion, but I’m glad it was Beram and not Glenda or worse (in the eyes of many) Scott Brown.

Madrid deserved their 1 – 0 win a lot more than St. Johnstone ever did.

  27. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ – I thought Kayal was one of our better players last night. Im not back tracking by the way. But to duck out of the way was just plain stupid!!

    Hey Jude,

    Don’t make it bad. (thumbsup)

  28. I don’t think CQN is here to disparage Rangers. Left alone, they and their support need no help from anyone in that respect. I do feel we suffer from severe mood swings, and I include myself in that. After the St Johnstone and Hibs games, I think my wife was contemplating divorce. The dog was looking at me askance, and even Family Guy didn’t help. That’s why the change in the Celtic team over this past month has lifted me and the blog (apart from the usual suspects). Gaudd hasn’t even been posting on Etims—he’s probably away analysing Leonard Cohen, therefore lessening the burden of gloom for the rest of us. I do however, have a suspicion Mr Dalgleish was up looking at Forrest last night.. What he saw watching Kayal and Wanyama will, I think, result in Liverpool having a wee tester of a bid for either. Kayal can go, but I want to keep Wanyama. The next Essien, in my opinion.

  29. Raymac

I don’t know who Kenny was watching but I’m afraid if James Forrest keeps it up he is going to play his way out of Parkhead.

  30. Raymac

CQN isn’t here specifically to disparage Rangers, but if there is an inkling of things going awry for them, this is the first place most of us will look for comment about it. That’s all I was meaning.
