A decade of special Scottish Cup Finals

Recent seasons have seen Celtic dominate the Scottish Cup like no team has in history, taking the prize in five of the last seven years.  That success aside, the other five of last 10 finals have also been special reasons to celebrate.  Inverness and Newco won their first Scottish Cups, St Johnstone had their first and second successes, while in 2016 Hibs won their first ‘Cup since before the Wright Brothers got off the ground at Kittyhawk.

Delighted that James Forrest and Tony Ralston are included in the provisional Scotland squad for the Euros, alongside Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor.  James has not been a regular starter for Celtic in four years and has been hamstrung by persistent injuries throughout his career.  But when fit, as he is right now, he is one of the most productive players in the business.

He also enjoys himself at Hampden.  Don’t bet against him delvering there and in Germany this summer.

Good luck to Jeremie Frimpong in Dublin tonight, where his Leverkusen side take on Atalanta in the Europa League Final.  German and Italian teams have a terrible record in this tournament, winning only one Uefa Cup/Europa League between them this century.  But goodness, it was an important one.

Of the 20 finals since Celtic lost in Seville, 12 have been won by Spanish clubs and seven of them by current holders Seville.

    I too enjoyed Celtic Exchange’s series ‘The battle to save Celtic’.

     

     

    Even Keevins was a good interview, apart from him getting confused when he talked about the old board posing for pictures at Robroyston, site of the proposed new stadium. Shuggie was at pains to point out that they didn’t even own the land.

     

     

    It was actually in Cambuslang they were posing for pics. Robroyston came later and that was Dempsey’s baby.

    Long shot I know. My son is flying over from Canada for his 21st birthday on Friday. If anyone hears of any tickets – Hospitality etc please let me know. I still have 2 season tickets despite moving to Canada 11 years ago and get to 3 or 4 games a year but not enough to qualify for a ticket from any of the normal avenues. You never know.

    I hope the former is true as I got a Xmas card from someone pretending to be him if not !!!

     

     

    If you mean his venues and hospitality then I don’t think so.

     

     

    Given Celtics own hospitality tickets sold out within 2 hours for even the £300 plus vat option. And the Hampden were only offering theirs to those who went to the semis in hospitality then I don’t think there will be much of it available.

     

     

    There seems to be money to be made in this Glasgow derby ?

    Some talk of wee Rishi about to call a General Election following his response to a question from Stephen Flynn MP earlier today. The PM used the phrase “second half” of the year which would mean July sometime, possibly Thursday July 4th.

     

    This story was given some credence by Nick Eardley of the BBC on Radio 5. Now NIck is a good Celtic man, and he thought that the Cabinet is meeting at Number 10 this afternoon, unusually, and the PM may make an announcement sometime later.

    If you haven’t already done so, you could make your unused tickets available to other Canadian Tims. Our Ottawa CSC members are constantly looking for tickets. Charge them/us face value and you could get a bunch of your cash back over the season…

    My Dad occasionally using the tickets but not much due to ill health however One of the members of this site uses them regularly for him and his on so they are always used. If that changes I will be sure to let you know. John

    Among our fans,what exactly is a ” Project”?Is it only the players we take a punt on,who don’t make it for whatever reason.Is it,like in MORs case,the low fee,( Biscuit tin),that we paid?.When Ange brought the Japanese players ,they were all projects.60% ,made it,40% did not.Is that success?.I would think so.

     

    The point I keep going back to,is,oven ready,CL quality,players are out of our price bracket.Just how many of those have turned out to be Turkeys,aka,£ 35 million,Silva.Many were furious when we did not buy Sidney Van Hoidonk,Norwich fans raging that they did.
