DAZZLING Daizen Maeda certainly knows how to do things in style.
The pacy Japanese international scored within four minutes of his Celtic debut in a 2-0 win over Hibs at Parkhead on January 17 2022,
And Maeda got off the mark in the 3-0 win over Livingston in West Lothian yesterday with a memorable stoppage-time effort to seal the three points for 10-man Hoops who had played for more than an hour after Joe Hart’s red card.
With the champions leading 2-0 through a penalty-kick from Reo Hatate and an opportunistic effort from Matt O’Riley, the inexhaustible forward put his stamp on the encounter with a mesmerising third.
IT TAKES TWO…Matt O’Riley, scorer of Celtic’s second goal, congratulates Daizen Maeda after his blistering effort for No.3 at Livingston.
Maeda latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area as he left Livi defender Tom McPake for dead. He dragged the ball to his left foot and his punishing drive was in the back of the net before keeper Shamal George could move.
It was a fitting conclusion to another unselfish performance from the player who takes the mantra of ‘We.Never.Stop.’ to heart.
Maeda’s moment of magic is worth a second look courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
