A week for leaks

1020

This seems to be a week for leaks.  I hear one club recently refunded two investors to the tune of £500k each.  Don’t worry, it wasn’t Celtic, and I hear the club involved are one of the most financially secure in Britain.  I also hear the national broadcaster rejected a former presenter’s request to return to the fold.

Still nothing from the SFA, who were responsible for issuing associate membership to Newco Rangers, on the leak from the club’s board meeting that the Association expressed alarm that earlier information had leaked from chairman, Malcolm Murray.  Mr Murray recently instigated an investigation into the relationship between Craig Whyte and Charles Green, the nature of which could invalidate Newco’s associate membership.

Far from being alarmed at leaks, the SFA should be keen to see full disclosure.  Reports suggesting otherwise are alarming.  I am sure the SFA president has already demanded openness and clarity…….  Relax, standards of corporate governance at the SFA are as high as ever.

I am also sure the leak from Newco was not a shot across the SFA’s bows, providing a glimpse into what looks like some murky conversations which people at the Association could have much to lose from being exposed.

  1. Just making an appearance to say….

The late great James Sanderson once said – whilst answering a caller…

“I rate Tommy Burns from the top drawer….For me…Tommy Burns has

the most educated left foot in the business and…I include Glenn Hoddle

    in that.”

  2. Morning,

Five years since one of my icon’s passed away.

I remember the night 5 years ago we clinched title at Tannadice. I cried my heart out

    An interesting paradox:

The vastly experienced manager at both Premiership and Championship level who will take over from SAF is 7 months younger than a certain young rookie manager who is learning the ropes at the lower levels of the SFL, how can this be?

  4. I was sitting in the office on a Lay Barge 5 years ago in the Bay of Bengal , logged on to CQN as usual and read the news , tears streaming down my face and a good mate of mine , a Baggies man walks in and asks , are you OK wee man , is your family alright , I just about managed to get the name TB out , he knew what I meant good football men do.

  5. For all of those waiting for the atomic bomb to drop on mordor…aint gonna happen. imo

But…what can happen is…we…can put more meat on the bones of the Celtic skeleton by

going oot and bringing in – Johnny Russell a decent CH btw…this is us now entering the 11th / 12th? transfer window in the summer in the search for a first team ready player who

will tick the box in central defense(hopefully) and…I would be shrewd and make a move for Craig Samson(St Mirren) and move on big FF who has been in the wrong movie since we went oot of the CL imo.

In the meantime…there’s a game on Sunday in which I would play all the fringe players.

Play indoor games or on the pitches at Lennoxtown to work out the Cup final team.imo

I know that injuries can happen in indoor games as well but…there will be no MIB providing a license for the opponents to injure oor main-men so to speak.imo

    Hail Hail

This is called the sevco parallax. This means that whilst the disinterested observer can see that Swally is about as much use as an ice-ream hammer in hell when involved in football, the MSM adopt the position that, because the bowling ball with arms is the current sevco manager, he must be a football genius and it is distorting factors like NFL, Tims, anti-sevco elements, CW, other teams being better, MIBs not doing their job properly and a host of other things that don’t allow his prodigious talents to be revealed to the rest of us.

This is similar to the Murray Magnification which allows bolting in smaller seats to a crumbling stand to become the creation of a footballing Xanadu.

  7. Morning all..i hear there’s negative news surrounding a.thomos story.to be expected i think. we look for so much to happen to them its overwhelming at times..hardly o.g.r’s fault .he was brave enough to indicate a story was brewing and gave hints of it on here..kudos to him!o.g im sure we’l know in the fullness of time hail hail to you m8!!

Five years ago on the passing if the great Tommy Burns..was at Celtic park on a non football day during his tenure as boss.was buying my son Celtic merchandise and bumped into T.B at the entrance of the main stand..he invited us inside to take some photos on the Celtic crest..amazing!!met Tom Boyd at the same time and he obliged also ..Hail Hail to T.B

12 years also in the passing of The greatest footballer in the clubs history according to many..met him when i was guest as a pools agent in’97 at Celtic park. v hibs in a cup replay..he sat with us for 20mins.at the end of our meal prior to the match..what an fantasic feeling it was to be in his company..as if sitting with Stevie Chalmers for two hours including the game and getting hugged by him when we scored twice wasnt enough..a truly brilliant day in paradise an wont be forgotten..Hail Hail to you..The great Bobby Murdoch

  9. I used to see the late TB quite a lot on a Friday morn we were at Hampden but… the team was still operating at CP – I used to work night / shift in EK(Jobo Balde land) and we would finish on a Friday morn at 03-30 am. So, I used to go doon a wee run in the car and – sneak a peek at the new North Stand being built – each metal pillar that went in was – for me – like a nail in the Jungle’s coffin :) nah seriously…as the weeks went by I was filled with more hope and as far as I was concerned – at that time oor est player was John Collins. It was brilliant going to see him in the hoops – definitely a stand oot hero of mine.HH

ohits – I was sitting in an airport lounge in Milan when I heard the news. It wasn’t unexpected, but I was really taken aback.

It was a struggle to fight back the tears.

Where you not in Papa Franks the night TB came in and spent a few hours talking to the punters.?

  16. A wee question…..who had the best european campaign this season

    Celtic or Benfica ?

With the benefit of hindsight – I would say that Benfica were better equipped for the latter stages of the CL and, Celtic were better equipped for the latter stages of the europa League. imo

Only based on the development angle. Plus – big Sammi is our most potent weapon in Europe and, unluckily for us – he was injured for Juve games.

this is the time of the year when I post constantly imploring our board/management team to sign 2 or 3 quality defenders, and not another 3 midfielders and a striker. I have come to the conclusion Peter and Neil don’t read CQN….or if they do…they (like many) never listen to me.

    Maybe this is MY year…….

Will be in the company of Benfica supporters tonight watching the final , they asked me who I would be supporting , I had to explain the term London Huns to them , they got the picture. I then reminded them why they were in the Europa League and they all to a man congratulated me for our great performance getting into the last 16 and said it was the only place to be.

Tonight i will wear a Celtic Polo shirt to watch the game with them , I bet you I go home with a new shirt on.

great news just read about vic pleading with nfl to stay, both are going nowhere imo,

Would disagree Benfica were better equipped for latter stages of CL than us. We were, IMO, equally ill-equipped. Benfica have did better in EL than we would have though. Leverkusen, Bordeaux, Newcastle & Fenerbahce, don’t think we would have beaten all of them over 2 legs. We would have struggled against Leverkusen & Fenerbahce.
