A week for leaks

1020

This seems to be a week for leaks.  I hear one club recently refunded two investors to the tune of £500k each.  Don’t worry, it wasn’t Celtic, and I hear the club involved are one of the most financially secure in Britain.  I also hear the national broadcaster rejected a former presenter’s request to return to the fold.

Still nothing from the SFA, who were responsible for issuing associate membership to Newco Rangers, on the leak from the club’s board meeting that the Association expressed alarm that earlier information had leaked from chairman, Malcolm Murray.  Mr Murray recently instigated an investigation into the relationship between Craig Whyte and Charles Green, the nature of which could invalidate Newco’s associate membership.

Far from being alarmed at leaks, the SFA should be keen to see full disclosure.  Reports suggesting otherwise are alarming.  I am sure the SFA president has already demanded openness and clarity…….  Relax, standards of corporate governance at the SFA are as high as ever.

I am also sure the leak from Newco was not a shot across the SFA’s bows, providing a glimpse into what looks like some murky conversations which people at the Association could have much to lose from being exposed.

I’m not trying to start a fight or anything M8 but

I think we lost to Juve because Neil fecked-it up

tactically. Sammi is oor best weapon in Europe

but – he was injured. That is were Neil got it wrong

imo. We should have been more street-wise and

parked the bus. Neil was too gallus in his approach

with Sammi oot it was time to screw the nut.

Instead – Neil went with 3 strikers – 2 of whom were

unfit – and almost half the team were carrying concerning

knocks – surely not the grounds for such bravado / niavety ?

    Only saying

  2. Tommy & Bobby my two favourite Celts. Our Club is The Bobby Murdoch Memorial CSC formed shortly after the Legend died in 2001. Have had the honour of meeting Mrs. Murdoch and Bobby’s son and his brother. I think it was circa March 2002 we took a table at a fundraiser in the Kerrydale suite for sufferers of Guillain Barre syndrome it was attended by Morten Wieghorst, and Mrs Murdoch was our guest of honour, to best of my memory Tommy Burns was there, I know for certain Danny McGrain was as I have photographic evidence. A lovely lovely family who readily gave us permission to name our Club after Bobby and who gave us a great welcome to Glasgow. See ye later as Kev says I’m Off Ooot to Golf even though weather is looking a bit dodgy.

  3. Been busy and haven’t had an opportunity to read back but knowing CQN there will be plenty of comments about personal memories of Tommy Burns and Bobby Murdoch.

I’m too young to have seen Bobby but my ol da claimed he was the finest passer of a ball he ever saw.

Tommy, I was not only lucky to see many times but also to have been in his company on a few occasions. To a relative youngster like me he was the greatest ever Celt.

Tommy Burns epitomised everything that is truly magical and special about Celtic Football Club.

They are gone but in us they will never, ever be forgotten.

  4. Celtic boys club lost on penalties in the final in Rotterdam on Sunday. Feyenoord (pro youth) being the victors.

They battled to a 1 0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam despite being on the receiving end of rough treatment, the boys kept there discipline. (Semi final)

two nil up in the final they had a pen given against them for hand ball and lost the 2nd to a deflected goal.

The bhoys did vey well and seemed to be better on the ball than their Dutch and German app invents.

  6. Tommy you carried my hopes and dreams with your own every time you picked up the ball, that surge of anticipation among the crowd Tommy Twists, Tommy Turns, Tommy Burns, as a man you had an outlook on life which I admired and on my better days even aspired to be like you in your faith and tolerance of others, God Rest you Tommy Burns few are they that captured my heart and soul as much as you did in a lifetime of supporting Celtic…

I was raised on stories of Bobby Murdoch and although old enough to have seen him play I must admit to having been too young to appreciate his genius, my father lamented his leaving as the end of a golden time of midfield magic, he would simply say ” My God he could pass a baw”

    The magic that is Celtic…

computers are great used to be a total technophobe, still a luddite compared to most on here but learning all the time, think I should have lurked a bit more, but have been drawn in by the good humoured craic, so much so you lot might be cited in my divorce the good lady only has so much patience.

  10. It’s 1am here in California, and here I sit, crying at the memory of Tommy Burns, nothing really to add to the many sentiments already expressed by fellow Celts, had the absolute pleasure to spend some time in his compnay in Las Vegas,a more honest decent, and committed individual you could not encounter, truly, god bless Tommy Burns.

  11. I remember about 14 years ago my bhoy who played with Celtic north, we were at the annual player of the year awards and Bobby was the guest of honour. Bobby and his wife spent hours with all they bhoys and spoke about the honour of playing for Celtic. He told them all that if they really wanted it they could one day go on and play for the Hoops. When my lad was getting his award, Bobby stood with him for ages both in their Green jackets while as usual the whole family, aunties, uncles etc were busy snapping away with the cameras, my bhoy turned to Bobby as said Mr Murdoch my dad said you were the best passer of a ball he has ever seen. Bobby said to my bhoy, Sean when you play with the guys I played with it was easy to find a pass as they new where to be.

Bobby Murdoch made my son’s night. An absolute gentleman.

In September 2011 my house went on fire and between the fire and the water from the hoses my family lost a great deal of personal stuff and memories. When the fire was out and the firefighters ( my brother in law being one of them ) they let us back in to see if there was anything we could salvage before they shut the house up. My bhoy went to his room and came out with the picture of him and Bobby in their Green blazers. He was 23 years old then and all he brought out was this picture, it had remained pinned next to his bed all they years. That was all he wanted. That was how much Bobby Murdoch meant to a wee bhoy who never even seen him play except on dvd’s.

He still has that picture at the side of his bed.

Bobby Murdoch and Tommy Burns Giants in the Celtic Family RIP

A lovely wee story that encapsulates why Bobby is so fondly remembered.

  14. So, arch-fiend Uncle Chuckles seduces the tub ‘o lard Jabba away from the msm with pouting promises of glory and riches and some grandiose title or other, like Reichsminister for Propaganda and a gold painted bucket seat at iPox, then abandons him like the foolishly lovestruck presstitute of legend. He never saw it coming, and now that it’s gone, he’s left, bereft of that mighty Yorks. shoulder to lean, and cry upon.

And somewhere I read that he’s been begging the bbc to be allowed to return to the fold, only to be rebuffed for the flighty strumpet he surely is.

His fate, not pretty at all, which I’ve long predicted……nay, advocated…..looks like rolling around faster than I thought.

The gutter press was the height of his ambition, but the gutter itself now beckons him.

    Silly man.

    : > )

  17. Memories of TB

I have a photo from our supporters club dance in centenary year of my wife who was pregnant with my daughter (due within weeks) and Tommy with his big Dennis Taylor type specs on. Neither myself or the wife have any hint of ginger hair but my daughter has. Always wondered if it was Tommy’s magic touch that done it.

    Oh la la .

The celebratory party [ in central Paris ] to mark PSG’s first league title in 19 years turned into a riot .

30 people hospitalized .[ many with stab wounds / head injuries ]

    31 people arrested .

Took 800 polis [and several hours] to get the situation under control..Tear gas used.

Polis blamed Ultras for the violence and claimed that most of the injuries were the result of violence between right wing ultras and left wing ultras. A spokesman for PSG stated that many of the Ultras were hooligans who were banned from the stadium.
