A week for leaks

1020

This seems to be a week for leaks.  I hear one club recently refunded two investors to the tune of £500k each.  Don’t worry, it wasn’t Celtic, and I hear the club involved are one of the most financially secure in Britain.  I also hear the national broadcaster rejected a former presenter’s request to return to the fold.

Still nothing from the SFA, who were responsible for issuing associate membership to Newco Rangers, on the leak from the club’s board meeting that the Association expressed alarm that earlier information had leaked from chairman, Malcolm Murray.  Mr Murray recently instigated an investigation into the relationship between Craig Whyte and Charles Green, the nature of which could invalidate Newco’s associate membership.

Far from being alarmed at leaks, the SFA should be keen to see full disclosure.  Reports suggesting otherwise are alarming.  I am sure the SFA president has already demanded openness and clarity…….  Relax, standards of corporate governance at the SFA are as high as ever.

I am also sure the leak from Newco was not a shot across the SFA’s bows, providing a glimpse into what looks like some murky conversations which people at the Association could have much to lose from being exposed.

Plural? And being on here? Where would I get the time…

  4. Last night I was at the Belfast City Hall for a boxing event. The 1st ever boxing event there.

All in aid of Oscar Knox.

And what a night it was. It was packed out. Oscar himself wasn’t there but Stephen and Leona were there and they can be mighty proud of such a success.

Credit to to the boxers for not getting paid.

Some great fights on show. And even Tyson Fury got in the ring and sang.

    A great night.

    Pisa airport!

Went a few years ago from liverpool – plane left on time but fog at pisa meant circling for an hour before being diverted to genoa – waited hours for a bus eventually getting to pisa at 4pm instead of 9am.

Return a week later -fog again -plane diverted to genoa where it waited until fog cleared-flew to pisa where we left and arrived back in liverpool at 4pm instead of noon.

Didn’t get a cup of tea from ryanair

  9. Had the privilege of meeting Tommy Burns and Bobby Murdoch on a number of occasions over the years – great men fondly remembered and sadly missed. God bless them both!

Having been lucky enough to witness both their full playing careers its often difficult to put into words what made them so important to the Celtic Support and the Team.

The attached link is an interview with WGS following Tommy’s death – I think it says more than the written word:

It’s 1am here in California, and here I sit, crying at the memory of Tommy Burns, nothing really to add to the many sentiments already expressed by fellow Celts, had the absolute pleasure to spend some time in his compnay in Las Vegas,a more honest decent, and committed individual you could not encounter, truly, god bless Tommy Burns.

  13. The Bobby Murdoch clip on Celtic TV gives a glimpse ofhis ability.

There is one 60 yard cross field pass pinged to Stevie Chalmers that is delivered with back spin.

Bobby played the game so effortlessly that you thought, ” I could do that”.

    Beckenbaur had a similar gift.

  14. HT

That sounds good, will do, Equis will be the HQ we’re staying in the Clydesdale Hotel..

We’re booked in for Thursday night, Mrs Starry’s first fish and chips..

  15. I remember the night we won the league title just a matter of days after Tommy had passed away. I’d been up to Parkhead to collect tickets and had wandered around the growing tributes with an incredible feeling of numbness and disbelief.

Such was my state of anxiety I even offered to drive our supporter’s bus to Dundee for the final game of the season though I had ensured that someone else was driving home in the hope of a victory to remember!

I was in that horrible Jerry Kerr Stand, the one above the tunnel at Tannadice, and recall prior to kick off looking over towards the West Stand behind the goal.

Out of nowhere appeared a banner,

“When you pull on that jersey you’re playing for more than a football team. You’re playing for a people and a cause”.

And then the tears flowed. Slowly at first, but then in great gulps and sobs. A stranger in the row behind, put his arm around me. I turned to look at him and noticed that he too had tears in his eyes. There was no need to utter a word, we both knew.

The result that warm, balmy evening in Dundee was the best tribute that could have been paid.

  16. SP

Oldtim and myself where in Equis with mrs and mini before the q&a on Friday.

I sent mrs BT out to carry out shop in order to pay before oldtim did. He wasn’t happy of course…

Don’t forget the buttered bread and tea….Oh and the ice cream…

  17. Iv found zheng zhi

Playing in the asian champions league against central coast mariners from australia -rogic former team-

    Score is just 1-1

Zheng zhi scored overhead kick from 40yards.

    Memories of tommy burns

An elderly relative was in the hospital in battlefield. I went to visit one evening and when I got to the lift .. tommy approached and stood beside me. He nodded and said hello.

People who know me will be aware im not exactly shy and withdrawn. But I felt I was in the presence of a very special man and was speechless. We both entered the lift in silence and stood quietly as it rose.

On my way out tommy was signing autographs for dozens of people in the foyer.

I was glad I hadnt bothered his peace earlier.
