A week for leaks

1020

This seems to be a week for leaks.  I hear one club recently refunded two investors to the tune of £500k each.  Don’t worry, it wasn’t Celtic, and I hear the club involved are one of the most financially secure in Britain.  I also hear the national broadcaster rejected a former presenter’s request to return to the fold.

Still nothing from the SFA, who were responsible for issuing associate membership to Newco Rangers, on the leak from the club’s board meeting that the Association expressed alarm that earlier information had leaked from chairman, Malcolm Murray.  Mr Murray recently instigated an investigation into the relationship between Craig Whyte and Charles Green, the nature of which could invalidate Newco’s associate membership.

Far from being alarmed at leaks, the SFA should be keen to see full disclosure.  Reports suggesting otherwise are alarming.  I am sure the SFA president has already demanded openness and clarity…….  Relax, standards of corporate governance at the SFA are as high as ever.

I am also sure the leak from Newco was not a shot across the SFA’s bows, providing a glimpse into what looks like some murky conversations which people at the Association could have much to lose from being exposed.

could it be another world record for sevco amount of monies charitable donations withheld allegedly? what happened to Dundee Untd gate share, & what again has happened to both charity matches played, & this is just the football side!

You are not suggesting Newco have threatened the SFA that they will blow the whistle on their joint collusion?

    Criminal.

    ==========================

Under normal circumstances I would have said that this alone would ensure that this went no further. But we are not doing ‘normal’ at present. There is the Craig Whyte factor, the disgruntled current and former board members factor, there is the distinct likelihood of another insolvency event factor, there is the police involvement in the ‘buyout’ factor, there is the ongoing dispute about who owns what factor, there is the BDO factor, the Tax Tribunal that hasn’t gone away you know and may yet implicate certain SFA people factor…….

So many variables in all of this it is hard to know what will happen. The pull to revert to ‘protect Rangers (sic)’ at whatever cost position may not be as strong as the pull to preserve ones liberty, ability to live in Scotland without being hounded for being part of Rangers and now Sevco’s downfall.

Then of course there are those pesky English guys who are now running the show and keeping the Charles Green (who is also not really going away you know and seems to be running them by proxy) agenda well and truly on track – the old loyalties will not be strong at all in them.

    What an unholy mess.

    How’s the recuperation coming on?

Better get your act together or coisty won’t be offering you a contract for next year.

For the sake of the Scottish game I hope so. I would willingly sacrifice 10-in-a-row for a genuine alternative force to emerge in the Scottish game. This does two things – it keeps Celtic on their toes and it confines the remnants of the Kinning Park Klan to irrelevance.

Actually – a third thing – it gets bums back on seats and gives us more meaningful games in the league.

Hibs, DUFC or the Dons…….. I hope they all raise their game, get their systems in place and give us a run for our money.

  12. Robert Tressell,

I agree with you mate. I thought the tweet was significant though in-so-far as a mainstream journalist didn’t feel compelled to add the name of THEM to the question. I realise Jim Spence is one of the good guys but you don’t often hear it said straight out anyway.

  13. Regarding the SFA ‘concerns’ cited in the sevco board minutes. I don’t think we can discount the possibility that they are baseless, that the SFA made no such comments at all.

We can assume this is CG’s agenda still being played out in the sevco boardroom. Given his propensity to manufacture quotes from other organisations when the situation suits him (man utd, dallas cowboys etc) I wouldn’t be surprised if the same has happened here. Even if he’s no longer on the board, I’m sure he has enough willing lieutenants still in post.

BT – I forgot to ask how you got that injury.

Is it the result of Doc tackling you from behind?

  22. BT bleeds green, the leg break & re-set must have been pretty horrible. I broke my leg a few years back and must say apart from initial pain at the moment and for a few hours after, it was just general soreness. Once I had the Op. and had plates etc. inserted, I can honestly say I felt no pain at all. I was given prescriptions etc for pain killers just in case but I never had to use them. The 6 weeks in plaster was a bloody nuisance o.k. and then a few weeks of physio to get everything back to normal but apart from that I had no problem at all.

Fully agree…… The greengoites might be trying to force the SFA to withdraw the license, to fit in with their financial strategy of selling the assets, before sevco is also liquidated,,,?
