A word on Odsonne and Kyogo

173

Ange, can we have a word?  Ever thought of trying Odsonne on the left with Kyogo through the middle?  When Odsonne first broke into the Celtic team, it was on the left side of the forward line, with Moussa Dembele leading the attack.  In the three years since Moussa moved on, Odsonne has occupied the central position.

When we first heard of Kyogo we heard he was more of a wide player, or second striker, a bit like that guy we signed from Feyenoord in the 90s.  Henrik Larsson was stuck in a peripheral striking position until emerging from Tommy Johnson’s shadow (cough) during season 1997-98.  It was a change that transformed Henrik from a place on the Feyenoord subs bench into legendary status.

It may sound ridiculous to want to tinker with the attack after we score six goals but only one came from Odsonne or Kyogo and not every team has a goalkeeper like St Mirren’s.  It feels inevitable that our man from Japan will eventually make the central position his own.  I would switch them now, even during games.

The only surprise about the racist incident directed at Kyogo yesterday was its coverage in the media and statement from the offending supporters’ club.  The entire squad has an opportunity to respond in the most appropriate manner possible on Sunday.

  1. Bada – He is a Manager you dinnae want to upset.

Professionalism is all these Bhoys Privileged to play for Celtic need.

    Arrogance can really hurt you.

    Onwards and Upwards.

    Stephen is making me smile.

  2. Celtic Mac

    That was the game

I also went to the first game the following season against Clyde again I think and I’m sure we won 9-0

feel free to Correct me if I’m wrong

  3. I lived in Townhead in those days so could easily walk to Celtic Park (or Parkheid as we called in those days) and get a “lift ower mister?”

We definitely beat Clyde 9-0 around that time, and the 1971-72 was a great side.

  5. Antonio playing like Lukaku – a battering ram with skill. Some player. These last two goals were superb. Apart from the red card, hardly a foul the whole game. Maybe getting gubbed 6-2 a few weeks ago wasn’t so bad?

Ronnie came out for the pre match shoot in but Evan Williams played from the start of the game.

Ronnie’s shoulder wasn’t up to playing a game.

Might even have been retired at that point.

  7. GARYGILLESPIESHAMSTRING

I’m Sure Ronnie started then was immediately subbed….otherwise it wasn’t the last game they played in

I could be wrong but I’m sure I’m right

  8. I made sure I went to that game as it was advertised it would be the last game they would play together

  9. Notice the Zombie Club have banned the offending Supporters ‘indefinitely’, rather than ‘in perpetuity’. Probably means they will be back as soon as it disappears from MSM and social media pages.

  10. Watching Anges comments on Kyogo. First class. Also delivered with tge effortless manner of someone who is simply saying it the way they see it. No nonsense. Just the truth.

  11. What a difference a month makes in football.

It would be good to hear if there are off field developments in the football department, sports science, nutrition etc under the big guys watch. Have we had any updates on that?

  12. Bill Leckie once again ‘on the money’ with his piece on the OO in Glasgow – no doubt, like the last time I flagged-up an excellent piece by him, I will be called a “hun”…..I am not! I admire this guy – he tells it straight without fear, nor, favour, from either side. He’s nobody’s lap dog – he’s a journalist, more than can be said of the overwhelming majority of a discredited Scottish media pack.

  13. Remember the real story here

Rangers fans racially abuse celtic player

Rangers fans think it so funny they post it online

Rangers should now have to address bigotry and racism in their support

    ========

No matter what the spin is, this is the story – and it should start and end with the fans and the culture they have allowed them to flourish in

  14. prestonpans bhoys on

As pointed out by someone on sentinelcelts thought the action below was against UEFA rules

Ibrox chairman Douglas Park won an interim interdict blocking the SFA from proceeding with an arbitration case against the club over a sponsorship dispute with league bosses.

  15. Charlie Adams saying Celtic support singing about his family who have had problems…….what’s the difference he says.

  16. JHB

I thought the Bill Leckie piece had the right sentiment, but wasn’t particularly probing or revealing. So it was more editorial than journalistic.

I had some brief dealings with him back in the day; seemed an okay bloke and always ID’d as a Falkirk fan, as I remember.

BTW; my partner is Asian and she has encountered a fair chunk of dismissive and impolite racism here. I see people talk over her or try to steamroller due to her humble and modest demeanour. While she’s very patient with their ignorance and prejudice, I’m much quicker to put any of that BS to bed as soon as it emerges.

You’re right Kyogo; you’ll never walk alone. #NoToRacism

  17. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Damage limitation by narrative change kicks in automatically at Sevco.

A select few at the Bigoted Broadcasting Corporation and Sly Sports and that silly wee boy who is employed by ET are the typical go-to gimps.

Also wouldn’t be at all surprised if praise comes their way before Thursday from ScotGov and SRTRC (Scotland version of course, the English equivalent does superb work tackling racism in all forms)

  18. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

BTW – does anyone know if Charlie Adam has been asked recently if he is still up to his knees in Fenian blood?

  19. My friends in Celtic,

All racism is pathetic and has no place in civilisation. It is so yesterday in our multi cultural society.

But yet we tolerate certain racism.

We have in the near future 30 odd neanderthal OO marches in our city. Anti Catholic marches is what they are.

We have numerous anti English marches in our land.

Both are tolerated and are widespread and accepted.

Our soon to be Japanese superstar will laugh at the ignorance and poor education of some of Scotlands finest. He will enjoy our support and I feel a magnificent display at Greyskull awaits.

But I have watched the video, it is frankly pathetic. But do I think the perpetrators should lose their jobs. No I don’t.

I enjoy my pre and post swally down the Gallowgate. I have seen many inappropriate things that would not look too pleasing on a camera phone. I would hate to think that pubs and clubs could be closed by the actions of a few drunken bampots.

    HH to all.

  20. Gooooooooood Morning CQN from a dry, humid and soon to be sun filled Springburn (work)

Why is the Scottish Mainstream Media picking up on this now??

You would think they were trying to upset our Japanese Bhoy and distract him from the Hunskelping that is about to unfold on Sunday.

Sevco sing every single week about being up to their knees in Fenian blood and nothing in SMS about it so why now?

That is the question we should all be asking, have they suddenly got a conscience- Nah I dont think so.

    Celtic 4 v Huns 1 on Sunday

    COYBIG

    D :)

  21. Does anyone have a link to the hand-ball `penalty` NOT given to Ross County v The Huns?

    Thanks.

  22. Radio Scotland falling over itself in praising the deid team this morning. Both for their handling of the racist singing on a supporters bus and challenging the SPFL about cinch. According to English, lawyer after lawyer has backed their stand. Get’s more ridiculous by the day.

Have the BBC paid the 25,00, although they’re banned from Ibrox? Have they the right to do so?
