Aberdeen 1-3 Celtic

884

Celtic blitzed Aberdeen with three goals in the opening 11 minutes in what at that stage looked set to be a drubbing, but the hosts pulled a goal back in the 12th minute, which set a parity for the remainder of the match.

Leigh Griffiths has had to be patient this season but he made the most of his starting opportunity tonight. The opening goal, came from his corner, which was headed into the net by Dedryck Boyata. Patrick Roberts had a clear chance to open the scoring seconds earlier, but Aberdeen keeper Lewis turned his effort behind.

unspecified-55

The second Celtic goal arrived on the 8th minute. There was nothing really on when Griffiths collected the ball wide on the right, but one cheeky nutmeg later and the Aberdeen defence were chasing shadows. Leigh crossed and Callum McGregor fired a shot which was blocked by Logan. The rebound fell to Stuart Armstrong, who contorted his body to make a contact good enough to score.

Again, there was little obvious danger when Leigh Griffiths collected the ball 30 yards out in 11 minutes. The Celtic striker took on two defenders before cracking a shot from 24 yards, which moved and deceived Lewis before smacking the back of the net.

At this point Celtic looked more likely to score six than to settle for three, but, remarkably, the fourth goal of the game arrived just a minute later, when Jonny Hayes lost Kieran Tierney with a quick change of direction before thundering one into the top corner from 23 yards.

unspecified-54

It was now Celtic’s turn to rock. Perhaps the game’s most important subsequent moment came after just 14 minutes when Stockley lost the Celtic central defenders, but couldn’t make contact with a cross 7 yards in front of goal.

Celtic’s passing in recent weeks has been exceptional, but they didn’t get this right on a choppy Pittodrie surface, as the unforced error count spiked. The ball rotation we have become used to seeing this season didn’t happen often, underlining the importance of suspended Scott Brown.

Sipsini, the uberest of uber huns in my work detests Sally also. He was described by him as a useless , money grabbing , pie munching, greedy , four faced , ten chinned c word.

Arsenal are welcome to Nicholas . As mentioned earlier him and White caught off screen slagging Celtic fans . I think White said aw naw , not the tattie song to which Nicholas replied and they are awe eating chips. Despicable behaviour from them both.

Chris Sutton, on the other hand , tries to raise Scottish football’s profile unlike Nicholas who panders to sky.

Perhaps Brendan set out last night to have the defence tested, prior to the CLQs.

He knew the pitch was poor and Brown would be missing.

Therefore, he was prepared to concede the midfield and rely on the defence holding firm and striking on the break.

When you consider that we had Roberts, Mc.Gregor, Armstrong. Griffiths and Sinclair and Rogic on the field, then there was no way we were going to be competitive in that area.

Especially when Aberdeen packed their team with height and muscle. They even left Rooney on the bench in favour of a battering ram called Stockton.

If it looked like we wouldn’t cope early on, we had Bitton and Kouassi and Eric on the bench, but, fortunately, we blew the Dons away in the first ten minutes.

    Conclusion.

The defence had a hard shift, backed by a three/two goal cushion and Aberdeen have the problem of what to do next for the final.

Quite a game between Red Bull and Bayern.

5 mins Sevco time added allowed Bayern to bang in 2 more to turn a 4-2 deficit with 10 mins to go into a 5-4 victory.

Red Bull must be wondering if that 6 million for McKay could have made the difference.

To sum up what is coming out in court tells us that rules were not incorrectly interpreted by those who hide behind the interpretations, what is emerging is evidence of DELIBERATE circumventing of the rules by deceitful/dishonest people to the cost of honest people.

Canalamar to his credit had always said this was about fraud, but only the lack of proof or the opportunity to present evidence of such has stopped that claim, which considerably ups the ante, from being made.

Still a bit more evidence of fraud of share holders in Celtic and other clubs to emerge as the trial continues but we are moving out of the protection football regulation can offer clubs into civil or criminal law where no such protection exists.

Dishonesty deceit, deception, and deflection, the four horsemen of Scottish football governance.

  8. Sipsini,

BRTH is right, i arrive in Lisbon on 21st but not until around 6pm and then we need to get to hotel, unpack, get something to eat, etc. so Sunday is probably out. Monday is our wedding anniversary and is the main reason for being in Lisbon that week ( aye, right ! ) so my time on Monday will probably be spent trying to stop Mrs Bateen Bhoy maxing out my credit card. :-(

After that, it’s all about Celtic ( isn’t it always ). Would be happy to meet up anytime after the Monday, by which time most of the legions will be due or have arrived already. You can get my e-mail from BRTH , or via the GFS guys , but i get the feeling we will bump into one another, and many others during the week.

I’ll be easily recognised….i have a hat to go with BRTH’s boots, and will most likey be wearing some kind of Celtic shirt :-)

It was always about fraud in my opinion.

The whole rules and regulations and laws and policies and directives of Scottish institutions and even Scottish banks were to be adhered to when applied by the Scottish authorities as they saw fit. I include the Scottish judiciary also. Hun scam after scam after scam for the guidance of Huns and obedience of fools(the rest of us).

    Proof:

When the cheating on the park (Tim Paranoia) spilled off the park into the realms of fraud no one in Scotland paid attention until their cheating hubris spilled into England and they attempted to defraud HMRC and now …. here we are!

Jimmynotpaul, an abandonment looked as though it worked in Cumbernauld’s favour today. It would be good if they win the replayed game.

For once the rain was a good thing. I think we got three weeks of rain today . It was really heavy in East Kilbride earler on (as usual some may say ) .

Clydebank thumped Maryhill 5 nil today so they can possibly get a play off spot if they win next Saturday and other results go their way.

    Dallas.

I’ve just looked at the table. Bankies are top, if they win their last game only Girvan ( Park Rd 67s mob) can stop them finishing top. Bankies have had some finish to the season.

Cumbernauld are at home to Maryhill on Wed. It’s probably between Maryhill, Cumbernauld, and Yoker for final relegation slot. Blantyre and Irvine Vics are already down and Shotts would need an absolute miracle not to go down. So one of three for the final slot.

Anyway, more importantly on a Celtic blog, how good was that 10minutes last night, even better we then defended for 80mins hopefully we might have to defend for 80mins in the CL group stages :-)

By the way TheTimReaper was correct earlier, anybody with a joker left in GFS2 use it against Hearts …… Although knowing that MikeInToronto he used his two jokers already as he tried to use his on the old Rangers then the Sevco :-)

As for the football. I have B.T. but I have to confess, I didn’t watch it.!!!

Stress is one of many things that bring attacks on, I wasn’t too clever yesterday, so I decided to put the head phones on and meditate, preventive action. I was delighted when I checked the score out at half time, but still couldn’t bring myself to watch second half. Why am I stressing, it the unbeaten run, something that’s not been done since the 1890s. It’s so close now. If we achieve it then it is real history.

Jimmynotpaul, my bankies supporting pal told me last week the best they could finish was third if other results favoured them. Thanks for the update on the league table.

It could be a good time for Cumbernauld to get Maryhill as they should be low on confidence after today’s result along with Paddy and his team mates refreshed after not playing a full game today. Since Tony left Shotts , they have been in gradual decline.

My pal wants Clydebank to get promoted so they can play at Newlandsfield. They have won all the games they havevplayed there in the last 7 years , either against Pollok or in Central League cup finals.

About a month ago he wanted Kieran MacAnespie sacked but is more tolerant of him now.

Pollok lost their last league game, 1 nil away to Kilwinning , today.

  26. Bizarre that some Celtic fans seem to have watched a different game at Pittodrie and Celtic were ‘flawed’ ‘ ‘vulnerable ‘ and “weak ‘ having gone three up in eleven minutes, and its clearly the leanest of times for the

CQN negativists even though were on the cusp of invincibility.

Maybe the infrequent posters should just stick to wearing shoes that are too wee?

The only downside last night was that we didn’t score on the break the way Brendan’s side normally does, for a regular four or five one scoreline.

The only way was up for Aberdeen and they fell way short at home in their own dodgy stadium with dodgy pitch. Celtic have the best defence in the SPL as well as attack and it takes two to tango in the beautiful game.

Billy McNeill scored up there, with a trademark header for a hard fought 1-0 win one Wednesday night way back before the internet and all its football opinions and he was surrounded with the Lions.
