Aberdeen join VAR protests

119

Aberdeen issued a measured statement on the shortcomings of Video Assistant Referees yesterday, after their game at Livingston on Saturday ended in farce.  With the score at 0-0, Bojan Miovski scored in the 92nd minute.  Neither the referee nor his assistant raised an objection, and when the VAR checked the goal, they discovered their system was unable to provide overlaid lines to determine if an Aberdeen player was offside.

Technical failure can happen in any walk of life, albeit it is a result of choices and ultimately costs.  Scottish football has a cheap and less-able version of VAR.  We should invest more and buy a better product.

Decision making is a different matter.  Denied access to appropriate tools, the VARs decided to overturn the on-field officials’ decision, despite acknowledging they were unable to see where the last defender was.  This has rightly upset Aberdeen.

On the back of Celtic’s issue on Sunday, when apparently the VAR did not display the video showing Alistair Johnston getting a touch on the ball before colliding with the man at the Newco penalty, we have a conglomeration of abysmal practices among the SFA’s VARs.

Clubs should be asked to invest more for next season, but anyone who thinks the current management of VAR is Scotland is fit for purpose is worth the watching.

  1. We’ve won six games in a row twice already this season. If we don’t do it from here on in then we probably don’t deserve to be champions but I have total confidence in our manager and players to get the job done. 🍀🍀🍀

Considering the Officials in this country, no matter how we do it we deserve it.

  3. Quite simple, treat every game as must win, our lives depend upon it. Quite different authors, but sometimes I wish Paul would adopt a no holds barred ‘James Forrest’ type approach, rather than tip toe, cryptic clue, keep your powder dry, softly softly approach. We are being screwed and whatever happens with var won’t change it.

  4. its just madness

so many things that equal a pattern of assistance

    For one team….

Just like we never got a foul till 20 odd mins on sunday

By that point Kühn had made his first foul and beaton had pointed out all the fouls he thought he had commited before booking him

  5. Also, when Silva’s right leg was brushed by AJ, he immediately dragged his left foot first along the ground then his right foot followed suit in the default diving position.

    The cheating b’stard.

Celtic TV’s highlights clearly show this.

Even Beaton seen it, hence the card!

    HH

    Phil

  6. lets all do the huddle on

as soon as AJ clears the ball that should have ruled var out of the equation under the ‘clear and obvious error’ act!

    but it didnt obviously.

that is the biggest bit of cheating out of that whole incident.

  7. See Atalanta pumped Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in the Europa League QF. That’s two wheels come off their quad now. 😳😂😂😂

  8. Such is the hype over the EPL that the press, the BBC, especially Radio 5, TalkSports, et al cannot see past any English team in European football games. Arsenal will beat Bayern, despite Bayern far superior record in Europe, City will beat Real in Madrid, (did get a good draw to be fair), Villa will win, which they did 2-1, Leverkusen’s game will suit West Ham (2-0 defeat) and Liverpool will dust down Atalanta despite losing to them the last time they came to Anfield. Fact is Atalanta could have won 5-0. One EPL team won over two nights. One.

European football is not easy, the bottom half of the EPL would struggle to get a win in Europe, Newcastle and Manchester United did not do any better than Celtic and Brighton did well in their first ever Euro campaign. I’d be surprised if more than two EPL survive this round, in fact they could all go out.

Off back to watch the gowf In Ga.

Am assuming they are taking the piss,

They wont play at dundee but are now forging ahead with an intergalactic planetary mission to play on mars

Would it not be easier just to hop up to dundee???

  11. Right now the spl are training referees to go into space to make sure the pitches on mars are neither water logged, iced up or contaminated with fenians

Just play the fecking game at dundee and shut it!!

  12. Rumours that a buckfast bottle and several coins had to be cleared from the van allen belt are at this time unfounded

  13. mccoist is still demanding a rescue mission to uranus after kenny miller was put into orbit after a Jozo Simunovic tackle….

sly sports reports that an ebt to neil armstrong is being investigated by hector at the HMRC are wide of the mark

CQN can also confirm that neil mccan is a rocket….

  14. kris boydachenko has denied any and all affiliations with the MIR space station as the russian astronaut confirmed that silva did not dive but played in a “non gravity event”

CQN can also confirm that there is no doubt that beaton is an alien

  15. VAR has confirmed that in conjuction with area 51, the moon landings and the JFK assasination that it is a conspiracy theory

  16. VAR has also denied that it was behind the magic bullet theory in the jfk assasination

And they defo did not draw the lines from the book depositary at the subsequent review

On a personal note I was at the fat club yesterday another 6 LB off this week (that’s after getting rat arsed on Sunday) that 2 stone lost since 1st of March.

    I am feckin chuffed.

Now if I can loss 1 LB a week to Christmas that will be another 2 stone odd, off.

Downside just now my cloths are all too big 😪 costing a fortune already but its worth it.

Back to footy, although I have said 5-1 any win will do, but I really want us to start taking all the chances we have been creating and start bumping up the goal difference.

Well done on the weight loss. Keep it going.

Re Taking a higher percentage of our chances. I, too, have wondered about why we miss so many. Anyone any suggestions?

I`ll look later as I am off to the just-opened golf course after its having been closed for a week owing to wet weather.

    Cheerio for now.

  23. HS thank you, I hope you are well.

Regarding the chances, it probably is about a bit more calm and calculated in front of goal.

It sounds easy but it obviously isn’t.

I do feel we have plenty of options up top now although I do like continuity and getting players used to playing with same players for example getting partnerships going.

As I say not an easy task but one I feel we will overcome, we are scoring a lot, just to put teams to bed take the early chances and teams normally crumble.

As it will take about 7 months to travel to Mars from here, they will miss kick off, forfeit the match, forfeit all the remaining fixtures in the league and cup, Celtic win the league and have a good shout at the Cup. Rangers* will also miss all of next season but will return in time for pre season for the 25-26 league, result!

Do not forget that Prince William of Orange, (who gained power in a Coup D’Etat) was directly (or at worst indirectly) responsible for the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692. That and the fact that he never set foot in Scotland. And neither should the Apprentice Boys of Derry now that I think of it, and most definitely nowhere near the Highlands. Shame on HIghland Council, if Stonehaven in the North East can stop the Orange Lodge, in its tracks then so should Inverness.

Liverpool last night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Its a funny old game Saint.

  27. Looking at the Highland Council website (Procession Applications) it appears that the Council has developed something of an affinity with the Apprentice Boys over the years. Maybe a grasp of their own history is not a strongpoint. The most recent application was granted last December, possibly undercover of the night. It is scheduled to take place on April 20, Adolf Hitler’s birthday, wouldn’t surprise me if it is a double celebration.
