Aberdeen, Sinclair, Hearts

251

Respect to Aberdeen for their performance on Saturday, it belied their poor start to the season and matched anything we have faced domestically so far.  That said, Celtic grew into the game and always looked to have a goal in them.

Delighted for Scott Sinclair, who was overjoyed at getting the goal.  He has been a special player for us and one who can still contribute.

Perspective is everything.  We are enduring one of the worst starts to the season while others, below us in the table, think their moment has arrived.  After Sunday’s results, we should be more concerned at the six point gap with Hearts.

  1. Credit where credit’s due. Jack H done well to turn in that kind of performance when the haters are out for him. Oli always showing for possession and an inventive pass. Dedo superb. Broony ever-great but evidently carrying wear and tear; are we a one-man team if he’s rested? HH

6 points, 2 games, I’m not ready to start panicking yet Corporal Jones

  4. HUNDERBIRDS ARE GONE

Spent the weekend in Aviemore, Silverglades.

Was with a crowd so no chance to meet up.

Are you coming down for the November HOOT?

  5. If Brendan feels he can’t play his strongest team on Thursday and Sunday then Sunday must take priority.

Salzburg away is a big ask, a defeat will not be the end of the world. A possible 9 point deficit to Hearts can not be allowed to happen.

Play the Hearts/Kilmarnock team on Thursday, Brendan. 8 IAR is too important.

  6. I hope we rest a few on Thursday and give others in need of game time an opportunity. Gamboa, Izaguirre, Christie, Mulumbu et al. Sunday is huge and we must look to win with the Huns playing the Diets something will have to give therefore we need to take the 3 points and take advantage.

    Good post and completely agree!

Good chance to give some players game time.

  8. Agreed.

Our strongest starting 11 won’t win in Salzburg.

Make a few changes, and keep our strongest 11 for Sunday.

Winning the league, and 8 in a row must be our top priority.

  9. Hunderbirds are Gone on

    Now, who remembers these…

Andreas Thom against Rangers at Ibrox.

Paul Lambert against Rangers at Celtic Park.

Murdo McLeod in the ten men won the league game.

Gary Hooper in the last ever Old Firm game.

Shunsuke Nakamura against Rangers at Celtic Park

Nir Bitton against Dundee at Celtic Park

KT against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park.

All memorable long range efforts. Will we see a Celtic player score a goal like that again? Long range shooting does not seem to be on the menu under Brendan. Not only does this deny the support the joy that only a long range howitzer can bring. Shoorly when teams pack so many bodies in the box, long range shooting can be a way to unlock such defences, either by hitting the back of the net directly, or by taking a deflection in to the goal, or to another Celtic player. Heck, maybe even an own goal might result.

Disagree. While Sunday is the more important game in terms of achieving our main objective this season (8IAR), introducing the changes you suggest would result in fielding a pretty weak team against a strong opponent.

The last thing Celtic need is to go abroad and lose heavily. That wouldn’t be good for morale and I don’t think it would be good preparation for Sunday.

  12. I watched the Jim White interview with Si Ferry.

Interesting to hear him speak about the transfer of judas johnstone. White went to Celtic park to get an interview with judas about his return to Celtic and got wind it wasn’t signed and sealed.

Low and behold Rangers find out.Souness and a former STV executive who White admits in the interview he knew very well at the time fly out to meet judas and his advisers to get the deal done .

Call me paranoid but it got me thinking…Did White play a part in it?

Ps The cringe factor was high in the video, especially his attempt at explaining his ‘ Brian why are you so good? ‘ interview.

    ——–

Said that a few weeks ago when the gap was five points. Too much focus on Sevco.

We need to start getting back to playing how we can. If we do that no other club will accumulate as many points as we do.

  14. My friends in Celtic,

I sincerely hope our scouts have been working overtime identifing suitable replacements for Moussa Dembele.

I accept that circumstances dictated Moussa’ s departure and it was too late to get a suitable replacement in.

However come January, we should have our targets lined up. A substantial fee should be spent wisely.

Failure to act will not be prudent or easily forgiven.

Disagree with respect. The players that don’t feature on Thursday will not have their confidence affected by a heavy defeat.

Heavy defeat away to Barca had zero impact on our domestic form. Confidence will be gained by a sustained winning run on the home front.

  16. Play our strongest available 11 in all games, our so called squad players are not good enough as proven in the two games BR fielded a weakened team, Hearts and Killie away. We also have a lot of injuries, as usual, so our options to rotate are limited.

Will Benkovic be fit? He could be the difference between a defeat and a point.

  17. Good afternoon CQN from a dull and boring office in the North of Glasgow.

Hearts will falter as the season goes on of that I have no doubt.

We just need to concentrate on putting a winning run together and this will put pressure on other teams, and I think we will win 8 IAR.

Jobo enjoy your partial retirement. :)

Hmmm, interesting. For months now most of us have been looking for a solid CH and a decent RB. We actually did spend 9m on Eddie in the summer although it may not feel like it as he was already with us on loan. I think Boyata will go in Jan and maybe a couple of others. Still think we need to strengthen at the back.HH

  20. passing the time , convalescing.

just watched my favorite ever non celtic game. Dundee 2 Hearts 0 1986.

    Its a brilliant watch.

Jim Duffy playing for Dundee, Roddy McDonald & John Colquon for Hearts.

    Purple huns Doddie and Jardine.

    Starter for 10 –

Who was taken off for Dundee , to let Albert Kidd come on ?

  21. it is Tosh McKinlay well done.
