Respect to Aberdeen for their performance on Saturday, it belied their poor start to the season and matched anything we have faced domestically so far. That said, Celtic grew into the game and always looked to have a goal in them.
Delighted for Scott Sinclair, who was overjoyed at getting the goal. He has been a special player for us and one who can still contribute.
Perspective is everything. We are enduring one of the worst starts to the season while others, below us in the table, think their moment has arrived. After Sunday’s results, we should be more concerned at the six point gap with Hearts.

I am stuck at Glasgow airport waiting for a delayed Ryanair flight. It is tempting to drink the free bar in the lounge dry but better not.
So despite the bickering on here again, I will risk cyber decapitation and join in.
I saw a post the other night about the 1981-82 season when we beat St. Mirren 3 0 and Aberdeen beat Rangers 4 0 on the last day of the season.
The significance was that Aberdeen were 4 0 up at half-time as our deadly beloved Glasgow neighbours had not fought very well to preserve the honour of Glasgow.
At half-time we were nil nil and just one point and one goal ahead of Aberdeen. A goal for st. Mirren and one more for Aberdeen meant that the title was going north.
The second half was different.
Enjoy.

MIT is a proud buddy.
I am a rather reluctant one.
Was born there but moved back across to Partick at two days old. Had spent the first nine months of my life in a womb in Partick though. ?

Magic man. Have been to many Celtic away games in Europe ticketless but always got in. Been to 6 Celtic away games with a ticket from Celtic, Ajax 82, Aarhus 83, Forest 83, Ajax 01, Blackburn 03, Liverpool 03. Never lost 1.
5 wins and a draw in Nottingham. Usually go to away end and we always get beat heavily.
Good luck on Thursday.
Fancy us to win in Salzburg.
Bon Voyage

Hrvatski Jim, thanks for that link to the 1982 league winning game.
The magnificent Tommy Burns ran the show in the second half, possibly the best I saw him play. His play setting up George McLuskey’s goals was great to watch.
The St Mirren number 7 was a certain Francis McAvennie with curly flame red hair. Little did we know that 6 years later he would be in the Hoops winning the league

In the United Kingdom a version was recorded by the singer Malcolm Vaughan and reached #3 on the Hit Parade. Its success was helped following a controversy involving the BBC when, in October 1956 Vaughan had been scheduled to appear on BBC TV’s Off The Record to promote the release of the song, but had the invitation withdrawn after a BBC committee decided that it was unsuitable for broadcast. The reason given was that “the lyric is contrary both to Roman Catholic doctrine and to Protestant sentiment.”[1] The resulting controversy coupled with airplay on Radio Luxembourg ensured the record’s success. As well as peaking at #3, it stayed in the charts for five months and ultimately sold half a million copies.[1]

On to back up the thanks from my childhood friend Dallas. For many years I have said that my most memorable Tommy Burns game was that league win v Saints or our 5-0 win over Sporting Lisboa. Great to see it again, was equally great the company in Coias on Saturday. Thank you for being part of that Celtic bhoys and ghirls company.

Delighted I was wrong earlier thinking that it was Hibs on Sunday.I am back in Glasgow for the date of the Hibs game.We should do the Saintson Sunday by the amount we should have done last week.
If not,one will do.We are on a no lose at the game across the City, although a Hearts win would be nice, but a draw would do.

Hi Bhoys
I see BBC sport has an article from Mark Walters regarding racism among other things.
Anyway this is part of the article attributed to him.
“I have always said football is a reflection of society and the fact it has stopped virtually – I have not heard about any incidents anyway – says a lot about how things have come on, which is fantastic.”
That would be because when racism is aimed at a Celtic player in Scotland it is swept under the carpet.
Tell him to phone Scott Sinclair and ask him if he has suffered racism on the pitch in Scotland or the airport for that matter, and what team the abusers follow.

We need to get our own lot sorted out. I nearly got the jail five years ago for tackling a prick who called Efe Ambrose a useless black bassa, when Efe was playing for us in Paradise. Hope his type have left Celtic Park on match days.

MAH–just to say I’ll be asking Padre Pio to intercede for your good self. I know from experience how hard the treatments and side effects can be. With a loving family and true friends you can get through. Novena to my friend starts tonight.
Tony Rome – thanks for link.
Personally I was taken by this direct quote from Calum Steele of the Scottish Police Federation
“The one word that describes it best is just simply idiotic.”
Calum, if you’re on here (I know) I have news for you – that’s three words.
A long time ago Strathclyde Police were renowned for recruiting from good Highland Protestant stock rather than taking Glasgow Catholics into the force.
A common joke of that era was centred around the job interview.
What’s two plus two?
Five.
Close enough.
Where you from Calum?

When Joe Strummer and Paul Simonen got arrested at the Apollo gig wi loads of The Clash fans, they got banged up in Stewart Street nick for the night. They sang Clash songs all night. The Prisoner the favourite tune.

Catching up, big dunts from outside the box.
My favourite (still). Firhill sometime, our shy right touchline in front of dugouts. Murdo to Chicken George back to goal.
George McCluskey dips left shoulder, goes right. Steps to the ball, left foot comes across his marker, bouncing ball on his right foot smacked. Alan Rough launches himself left, a week late. Net bulges, I’m ready to catch it if it tears through their net. Never forgotten.
Is anyone teaching our kids how to strike for goal?
GuyFawkes
Of all the long range strikes by a Celtic player for a goal, my favourite tonight in my memory is Naka’s mental swerver past McGregor into the Lisbon Lions end pokey. Was in Jock Stein stand miles behind it, but can still see the genius in that strike from our Japanese Bhoy to this day

Whilst I can understand that football players might want to play international football, I cannot understand if you continualy get played in what seems like meaningless friendlys and not in meaningful cup games, and don’t pull out of said friendlys.
In other words Feck Scotland internationals.
Keep our players here and fresh for our assault on the treble treble yell.
