Aberdeen stand up for the fans against Doncaster and Regan

755

Blogging on the move right now but want to pass comment on one part of the statement by Aberdeen chairman, Stewart Milne.  As he confirmed his club would place the fifth and decisive vote against Sevco being allowed access to the SPL next season he said:

“Reorganisation of the game is a priority and is something we have been actively involved in for a long time, but it is not something that should be rushed through just to deal specifically with one club.

“As we have indicated there are a number of other areas that we feel need to be addressed openly in the coming period if Scottish football fans are to feel that their views have been properly taken into account.”

Those well-paid executives who work for us and on Friday met to discuss a way to reorganise the league structure in the next couple of weeks should pay heed.  As Mr Milne suggests, we are the game, not you.

I hope that the other SPL clubs negotiate an increase in away tickets for us next season and there is enough interest from those able to travel, toavail of them.

A well done from the CSA wouldn’t do any harm either.

    On another point.

Any pending criminal action should not hamper the investigation into duel contracts, as thus is purely a football matter. HMRCare on their own case.

The contracts question is at the root of their contaminated history and MUST be pursued.

Should they be found guilty, then reparation MUST take place.

The first piece of justice should be the reversal of Dunfermline’s relegation,as they were the biggest victim’s of their financial doping last season.

A Hun’s Guide to Clubs and Venues in Division 3

ANNAN – a neat little Border town from where you can look across the River Eden to England where Mr Charles wants to take the mighty gers. Only 15 miles from Dumfries where a bigger team than the huns, Queen of the South, plays. Its most famous product is ‘Coffee Annan’ named after the former Sec. Gen. of the UN, and the country may need his expertise on peace-keeping forces when the hun meltdown finally goes ballistic.

BERWICK RANGERS – a historic walled town on the banks of the Tweed. It was fought over for centuries. Its greatest victory was in fighting off a savage horde from the north and crushing them in 1967. Berwick is actually in England, which is as far as the huns will go in Europe for many a long day.

CLYDE – A former Glasgow club, a short hop along the M80, once in the top division, but now languishing in Div 3 (can youname any others?). At least Clyde’s drop was slow and did not happen in one fell swoop. Known as the Bully-Wee, while the huns are known as the bullies-who-tried-to-dominate-Scottish-football-but-look-where-it-got-them.

EAST STIRLING – Plays somewhere ‘out there,’ but nobody claims to have actually seen them play. Main achievement is winning the ‘Stirlingshire Cup’ in 2000 (the what?). Maybe the huns could apply to play in it and actually win something next season.

ELGIN – The longest journey the huns will make next season. I hope they remember that some of their first teams players will get half fare on the bus. The team is actually called Elgin City, a bit of a boast for a town of 8,500 people, but it means the huns won’t be embarrassed* by chanting ‘we are the peepil.’ About 40 miles from Inverness, where they might have been playing if they had not been very naughty boys.

(* Huns and embarrassed in the same sentence? You’re joking – ed)

MONTROSE – A small town in Angus, wherever that is. Its main achievement is winning the Div2 championship in 1984/85. Maybe the huns can do that in 2019/20. But the huns needn’t despair – they play in royal blue strips, so they’ll feel at home.

PETERHEAD – A big town near Aberdeen (OK, I won’t rub it in by saying they could have played there). Famous as the UK’s biggest fishing port, so they’ll be used to the smell. Eventually, they might go after the game to visit some of their former colleagues who will be residing in a big hoose there.

QUEENS PARK – A short distance from Ibrox, so they can walk there and save Mr. Charles the bus fare. A team which upholds the Corinthian ethos, which is more than can be said for some. Unfortunately, the Green Brigade will not be able to sing ‘No Huns at Hampden’ after they get papped out of the Scottish Cup, hopefully in a preliminary round for the diddiest of the diddy teams. However, Campbell Ogilvie might be caught afterwards trying to Tippex out the winning team’s date in their registration form.

STIRLING ALBION – Stirling, once the capital of Scotland, has a big castle whose walls are ideal for jumping off when they are so far behind in March that they can’t win the league. Another club which was once in the top league. See mighty – see fallen.

STRANRAER – a bit of a dump in SW Scotland, but enhanced by the fact that the huns will be able to see the hallowed shores of Northern Ireland on a clear day. A few miles from the Cairnryan ferry terminal, so the Ulsterish hun hordes will be able to get back to their flag-bedecked houses that bit earlier than usual.

The sharp-sighted among us will notice that ten teams are listed above. However, one of them will move up to Div2, while a team from Div2 will move up to Div1 and a team from Div1 will move up to the SPL.

To finish with a competition for huns:

    1. Does any hun know why all that moving up is happening?

    2. You need to get to know the territory, so can you name the team moving up from Div3 that you are going to replace?

The first correct answer opened on July12 will receive a season ticket. The next correct answer will receive 2 season tickets.

  3. If any punishment’s are handed out to Neil or anyone from our club from Doncaster and Regan why should we accept any punishment from this corrupt bunch.

  4. Respect to fellow SPL clubs whatever their reasons may be for voting no to newco, their maybe hope after all, pass the champers darling!

I agree that the EBT investigation needs now to be the focus. If Davis and Papac had recevied EBTs last year then surley Dunfermiline should be back in SPL ( though I am no fan of them) – that is only just outcome. We don’t need Dundee and Dunfermiline in court at this stage. Please for once, do the right thing…… close out the EBT stuff!!!

“we are the game, not you.”

No one could have said it better. How our forebears will be rejoicing over these words. They knew it but their voices were silenced. Let us not forget that they tried and perhaps unforeseen by us, actually laid the foundations for this day.

Reading back on RTC from earlier today. Good stuff from you mate on the Engerlund bunch of failures……..as usual.

I sometimes wonder if they would have won in ’66 had the finals not been played in their home country.

  9. Looking back to when minty took over the dead rangers until now , how the hell did we win anything? Or were they just trying to make the cheating and corruption look good?

  10. Quonno,

do you seriously think that these chairmen are going to announce that they are voting no and then vote yes there would be bedlam at any team that done so,their fans would desert them in their droves

Still no sign of PL telling us where Celtic stand.

No need to quono. Others are fighting the battle. A clever general awaits the outcome on the top of the hill far from the front line. That way he avoids criticism if things go wrong but can claim the praise as the one who directed from above if he is victorious. If not, he is ……no I just do not believe he is anything but clever.

  12. I am a wee bit puzzled by Fraser Forster’s quote in the times. He seems to suggest it would be a good idea for Celtic to let him leave if they get a good offer for him. As I understand it, Celtic need to pay Newcastle £2m before they can sell him. Any transfer monies earned this summer will go to Newcastle.

I hope Celtic sanction the £2m spend as it would be a false economy to go into Europe without him. His mentality and concentration suit Celtic’s style of play. Many older and supposedly better goalkeepers found it difficult to cope with the unique pressures of playing at CP.

  13. Jeg er Neil Lennon-Greeninbingley on

Don’t understand why there are people on here, even today, apparently disappointed/suspicious at the board staying silent.

What’s happening? The huns are being booted out of Scottish football BY Scottish football – by Hibs, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, ICT etc.

The right and just thing is happening. Why should Celtic wade in to a toxic situation which is going the right way anyway?

The time for us to fire the guns is when it isn’t – and so far we have played it beautifully imo. “When will I see you again” – perfect.

There is much, much more to emerge yet, and we are sitting watching. And everyone knows it, including the SFA. Just because our club is not roaring and jabbing its fingers into the corpse doesn’t mean we are being passive.

We speak quietly and carry a big stick, and that’s fine with me.

  15. I dont give a toss for thems . no more interest from me, what does interest me is getting shot of the men at football HQ who tried (and failed) to defend that cheating club . The blazers at hampden should be told their positions are untenable and asked to resign . No way can scottish football be looked at with respect when this shower are running the game . This doesn,t just affect celtic , this was an act against every other club in scotland . Oh for another ch 4 documentary from alex thompson .detailing just what has gone on in hampdens corridors of power . let the whole football world know the depths this association has gone to nullify the crimes of one club , proven to have cheated not only scottish football but the country as a whole . the full hose requested from me .

@BIZMUNKY: The alleged falsification of accounts at Ibrox goes back years and involves major names/legends.

Could be cheerio to 9IAR.Fingers crossed.

  18. England’s best players at the Euros were Terry (hiss!), Cole (hiss!) and Gerrard. All 3 in their early 30’s and with a lot of miles in their legs.

None of the other players looked anything other than competent. Rooney reminds me of Michael Owen – his best days behind him at an early age.

For spells last night, England were as bad as I’ve ever seen them – the exception being the 10/15 minutes between Cameroon going 2-1 up and Lineker’s equalising penalty at Italia 90.

For the sake of my English friends, I would like them to win a penalty shoot out just once so that they can emerge from this bi annual trauma.

I do think we need to come to terms that there are few footballers today who do not do ‘walking away’. Unfortunately the quicker a club like Celtic can elevate them from obscurity to the heights of recognition and the attention of others, the sooner they, or perhaps it is more the avaricious agents, will see the greener grass and the sooner we will lose them. Resignation I am afraid, my friend, is the only antidote.

  24. SFTB,

i think with regards to Forster its time that the club made his mind up for him,

i would give him a short deadline and if he hasnt signed then i would let him go,

gives us a few weeks to find another keeper,am sure we must be looking at some as it is anyway
