For so many years, games at Celtic Park have resembled a siege against a nine man visiting defence. Not so this season. Hibs and (especially) Falkirk made a go of it in the League Cup. Hearts competed and made us sweat until very late. The wins against Newco and Slovan Bratislava were quite joyful, but Aberdeen took it up a notch yesterday.
Celtic played well enough to win the game and after dazzling first half performances from Arne Engels, Kyogo and Reo Hatate, looked to be out of sight. When you face an onslaught like Aberdeen did during the closing 20 minutes of that period, all you can do it hang in until you find a way out of it, which they managed to do.
The second half was a procession of Celtic mistakes which offered the visitors hope. Maeda, Valle, Schmeichel, Trusty and McGregor were all culpable. It looked like the team emerged from the dressing room at halftime with a ‘job done’ mindset. I am sure this will be disputed, but there was definitely something amiss. Aberdeen’s robust approach to fouling in the middle of the park also broke our tempo.
By the time Aberdeen ‘scored’ what looked like a goal to put them in the lead, we all knew that the faux words we exchanged last week about this being a match between the title contenders were true. Over the summer months, Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has achieved a remarkable feat. The stats say they only had 24% possession, but if Celtic scored what would have been a deserved late winner, it would have been harsh on the visitors.
We’ll talk about what happened to change a game from a comfortable looking win into a knife-edge encounter tomorrow. Hint: Thelin watched us in Dortmund and found a vulnerability.

Thanks for that Tom. There is no way that goal should have been disallowed yesterday. No rule either. Oh wait a minute, that would have been a “winning” goal, different rules apply.
Absolute disaster to see our achievable points cut to a mere 112. Don’t know why we didn’t just hand over the trophy straight after the game.
Fair play to Aberdeen for having a go and not camping in and hoping for a narrow defeat which is supposed to be what you do when you are up against a team with better players.
Be interesting to see how they go over the next few games.
Raised expectations will bring extra pressure. They will also have a target on their backs – all the other teams will want to be the first to beat them.
Let’s see how they get on.
As soon as the ball hit DUK, the TWO Celtic Ball Bhoys were claiming for the handball from either side of the Dons Goal.
Celtic should make sure that those Two Ball Bhoys have a ” LIE DETECTOR” Test, and if they BOTH pass that Test then Celtic should send the Polygraph evidence to the SFA….SIMPLES !
LOL
Cheatin DUK and the Officials.
ive watched the Disallowed ” Goal” by Adam Idah a few times…..I think that maybe the Ball was ALREADY over the Goal Line BEFORE ADAM headed it ?
Why was there not a VAR Check ?
HH.
think some of the irish bhoys in toon over for the game are having trouble getting their flights back home because of the storm.
i suggest they just stay and get pished and deal with it tomorrow.

………..…
“So really, according to Collum’s own words, Celtic should have been awarded a penalty.”
What did Brendan say about it?
ADAM IDAHS Disallowed ” Goal”….
The Ref deemed that Alistair Johnston PUSHED the Dons Goalie using BOTH Hands……How was that possible with AJ having his back to the Goalie the whole time.
AJ is NOT OBLIGED to move away from the Goalie, and he simply stood his ground as the Goalie tried to clamber all over AJ.
Cheatin Hun Officials…yet again.
HH.
Mybe we should bring in big Ponsonby who along with the rest of the Scottish media couldny lay a single glove on the decade long Krankie crime wave.
My memory (maybe not as good as it used to be), is that AJ bundled their goalie into his goal, before Idah’s header.
If it was us, I would have been screaming to disallow.
Doesn’t seem that controversial to me.
How many crosses did our 2 wingers put int the box yesterday?
You know what , I think it’s beneath Celtic fans to laugh at the hun …
Who am I trying to kid , it was hilarious…😂😂😜
I watched the entire 96 Minutes which were absolute DROSS……However, I still enjoyed it !
LOL
HH.
The above Post was about Killie v Hun game.
ABSOLUTE DIRE and DROSS….But still enjoyable.
LOL.

I can’t see Aberdeen getting away with the time wasting and niggly fouling against any other team; mind you, they probably won’t need to do so. Apart from Falkirk, they are the best team we have played against, so far this season.
If the Huns go for the Dons manager they’ll win trebles and maybe a European trophy and Celtic will bring Ange-ball back then realise that it might be Malky McKay’s turn for a shot on the dubiously rich kids hobby horse.
I too think Johnson impeded their goalie at the disallowed goal but I would really like to see Duk’s “clearance” off the line from behind the goals.
Just imagine if Alex Rae was in charge by halloween …… how appropriate would that be !
Boring joe….
Arse.

…………..
The cheatin Hun Ref INDICATED that AJ had pushed the Dons Goalie using BOTH Hands…THAT simply did NOT Happen.
If anything the Dons Goalie was the one committing a FOUL…..By Clambering all over AJ in an attempt to get to the Ball…which he had little or NO CHANCE of getting.
The Dons Goalie was the one who was Guilty of committing a Foul/ Penalty Kick.

Both versions of Rangers have been signing Catholics for decades. I’m amazed that in 2024 some Celtic supporters deem an Ibrox player blessing himself to be worthy of comment.
*Its the hypocrisy of them now Tom that for around 70 or so years they widnae have a Catholic any where near the premises and when the found out they had one, like south african don kitchenbrand. they got shot of them right away, to now openly blessing themselves, lets NOT forget that when they started tae sign the european ones like big Albertz, who when living in Cardross went tae Holy Mass over in St Kessogs in Balloch, they were told to make the sign of the cross in the tunnel before entering the field of play
Has anyone got footage of the disallowed goal by Idah
The Ibrox Club. Since 2023.

Banners today using the plural non-specific “Management” to castigate – not any of those above of course, they’ve all got off their marks.
How they must wish for their own Peter Lawwell clone – the anger could be more targeted and personal – hey ho we beat them hands down yet again.
Re blessing/crossing.
Anglicans and Lutherans ,among others, indulge in this practice. If, memory serves me correctly Basil Boli was asked to refrain from blessing himself as he entered the pitch.
I wish we’d got our summer transfer business done as quickly and efficiently as Sevco did😀
Man City win it with a 95th minute goal, after a VAR check. Interesting wee comparison with us yesterday.
PCS
Yes..player backs into keeper Stones scores with header… goal given….
I wouldn’t have been happy if we had that VAR decision.
Its typical of the coached approach to football, pushing rules to the limits he backs in distracts the keeper enough that the keeper has to push him, then he hits the deck, wouldnt surprise me if he was looking for a penalty.
AJ had a look over his shoulder and reversed gear into the goalkeeper , that was the foul , really dumb.
Adam had a great leap for the header possibly could have beaten the keeper if the keeper wasn’t impeded.
Anyway turns out a point gained.
I’m not joining in the Aberdeen love-in , their general fouling and time wasting was ridiculous , although the ref added 10 minutes for all this bollocks , he was weak and let the Sheep away with murder.
I’d suggest that the sheep’s luck will turn when they run into a heavier game schedule in winter , but harder to hit on the break during our crap winter weather

The Belgian Beale still has time for a dance
Interesting to note 2 of aberdeens more combative platers were Scandinavians who had literally signed from playing mid season. Trying to coach 16 months without a break at their intensity will be tricky for them.
We don’t even look like winning penalties any more

if there’s one thing sheep are built for it is to deal with harsh scottish winters 🐑🐑🐑😄

Your amazement is somewhat fawning Tom,
‘It’s not the colour or creed but the man’ is not a common view among follow followers, especially amid the loyal orange members who attend regularly, both of their clubs have a strong anti catholic sentiment running through them.
Sourness gets a pat on the back for ending 139 years, not off me,the songs, the blame, the sectarianism still has its home there,as the club itself find some of the songs “rousing” according to Gilligan and that was recently.
Like in US south(in general),the bigotry and division still arise, the huns have 139 years of sectarian bigotry to be rid of,it won’t happen overnight,I doubt it will happen at all,it is inculcated within how they think of their club.
The fact it is even a topic Tom,pro or anti,is down to their own warped view religion, and it is used pursued most venomous by bigots who weaponize protestantism incorrectly,I doubt they would never be near a kirk,Presbytery or Church
