For quite a long time there was a lull in the Rebs at games. Why the resurgence?
I don’t like them at the games but I do think there’s a difference between some of them. Explicit mention of the IRA is daft. Songs like go on home are not just daft but also nonsensical.
I could and indeed have written articles on this issue back in the ‘noughties’ for a now defunct Celtic blog. It’s not as simple as just condemning it and there is some debate to be had but overall there are better songs to sing at the fitba
As Christy Moore wrote ‘some old songs are not worth singing’ – I think he’s right.

It’s not the language that needs excusing, it’s the sentiment.
Calling Celtic supporters who’ve travelled to Aberdeen for a 12 o’clock kick off on a Sunday during a storm in the middle of February ‘ignorant cunts’ is not on.
Even the ref’s cards have different colours for them:
“Connor Goldson gets absolutely smashed by Guthrie as he clears the ball.
The Livingston defender catches him on the ankle and goes into the book.
That wasn’t a great challenge. It’s not a definite red, but he’s lucky to get a yellow. It’s an orange card, effectively.”

The language describing the Celtic supporters singing IRA songs, which I hate to hear by the way was totally unacceptable, to repeat it in a further post unedited is ridiculous.

Aberdeen’s sole tactic seemed to be to lump crosses into our box . Apart from one or two semi-flaps from FF we dealt with them comfortably although perhaps we could have done more to stop the crosses coming in.

I know the claim is that travel broadens the mind but surely a trip to Aberdeen, even in dreadful conditions,is not far enough to add to the awareness of those doing the singing? Ergo, the claim is on.

Huns score to go 1-0 up. Livvy keeper allows a shot that was straight at him to go thru his legs.
