The managers job is to motivate the team

    The team don’t look motivated.

The managers job is to ensure that each player knows his role and what is expected of him.

The players often look as if they don’t know what is expected of them.

The managers job is to set out tactics appropriate for each opponent and to alter these tactics as the game demands

The current team seems imbalanced tactically and any changes made during games don’t seem to address the problem.

So let’s not get caught up in personal abuse of the manager , let’s just concentrate on how well he fulfils these key requirements.

  2. BCW

Anyone brought in would be a temporary appointment.

Our playing staff is in place until summer at least.

Any replacement will need time to know the strengths and weaknesses of everyone.

As I said earlier we need to hold our collective noses and encourage the players.

We have a favorable run of fixtures in February with the EK cup tie at the weekend followed by a couple of home games.

Aberdeen meanwhile will drop points providing us with a bigger cushion than the 4 points we virtually have at present.

  3. Auldheid….

Any body remember the outcry to sack McInnes when Aberdeen went into free fall earlier in the season?

There was none. Because the Aberdeen manager had a blip. A blip contrasted again sustained good performance.

Ronny isn’t having a blip. This is a continued and sustained pattern of failure. In big games Ronny’s team fails to deliver. He’s also failed to bring in decent players. How many of the 22/23 signing could even charitably be described as a success? How many players has he improved?

Can you tell me where Ronny has succeeded? Or what, after 18months of failure on failure leads you to see potential?

cmon bud, if ever there was a beacon of why the board are shite its your goodseld

Paddy 8 says SACK THE BOARD,

    that looks natural.

Stuart Armstrong is that slow he answered all the questions right on The Chase and still got caught

  6. It’s a worrying time . Tonight again proved the lack of bottle in the team . And know what , nothing can be done about it now .RDor PL bought a bunch of tiny soft midfielders . And its what we’re left with till the end of the season , so we’ll have to make the most of it , and pray broonie doesn’t get injured again . Talking of bottle I have yet to see Stewart Armstrong last 90 minutes , Gary McKay smith has no stomach for a battle . James Forrest not the least bit interested in the jersey . Lustig I don’t know what has happened to this lad . But he also has lost it . Jose seems always to be injured as does commons now . As is mulgrew . biton Can celtic afford a player like him. He can undoubtedly play , but doesn’t get the time to prance about in Scottish football , too lackadaisical for any team wanting to hit with speed , and too soft to boot . Johanson another lad that has sadly gone back always . Wasn’t a big fan of Calum McGregor but the lad works a shift for the team . Boyata worth holding onto in the hope he comes good . Craig Gordon . Griffiths , broonie , teirney . Erik , Richards , will do for me . Allan Christie , Roberts ,due a chance , but so many wee bhoys . That’s just my summary of the state were in .with regards RD . I don’t know , one thing I do know if / when he does go , he will not be replaced with anyone of pedigree . It will be another nearly man until the next time , and on and on . I have said on many occasions IMHO

celtic will never get out of this rut , until we see the back of the absent landlord . It s him and him alone who is dragging us down

I don’t think the media’s agenda plays much of a part in this, it certainly plays none at all in my opinion

  8. Marrakesh Express on

At the risk of repeating myself, we are now a mid table English Championship side, eg Sheffield Wed or Blackburn. Last two games we’ve lost to a Bury and tonight a Coventry.

That’s my honest evaluation of this world famous football club at present.

That is, frankly, fantasy!! You’re stating your dreams and hopes as fact!! And you’re gambling Celtic’s future with that nonsense.

You have NO WAY of knowing the above. Please, enough speculation. Deal in fact, or make it plain you’re making stuff up.

  11. Latchford

I agree with most of what you propose. I’ve hired and fired many a manager. Taking out a fellow director / chairman is neigh on impossible. PL is DD’s puppet.

  13. The Village Green Preservation C.S.C. on

But look at all the lovely paving outside Celtic Park.

And all those nice banners depicting the top class players we used to have.

Go back to sleep, everything is fine here.

[With a nod to Bill Hicks]

  14. Gees things can certainly change very quickly. 8-1 against Hamilton seems a long time ago.

It’s very frustrating, we’ve seen sparks of what we’re capable of against Inter, fenerbache and Ajax.

There’s just no consistency. Defensively we’re all over the show. Tonight my heart was in my mouth everytime we conceded a corner. FFS that level of incompetence is hard to stomach.

Ronny is on very thin ice, he’ll be lucky to get through this.

  15. SKY’s silence when Leigh Griffiths scored was very eerie, and you had to be a Celtic fan to know the ball was in the net with both commentators in denial.

Andy Walker earned his soup with a most embarrassing tirade that didn’t reflect the run of the play at all, but suited his agenda. David Tanner smirked whilst patting him on the back, and a puzzled Hans Hilhaus sat sheepishly.

A bizarre game of football saw Celtic’s far too lightweight midfield huff and puff, until Aberdeens first shot at goal zipped past dozy Gordon. Then before Celtic could fanny about again, Brown and Sviatchenko blamed each other after allowing a competent Aberdeen to go two up by just turning up at a corner.

Ronny Deila was forced to make his team heavier with CKG whilst the deadly Dundee double looked decidedly Dundonian. Calum McGregor was easily out muscled and it was on 90 minutes before the ball eventually fell then sat up on Griffiths left peg, for the sound of pin drop.

Pass marks for Brown, Boyata and Sviatchenko ( when he’s fit ) but Mikel Lustig and Keiran Tierney are both suffering burn out in Ronny’s notorious format, with both offering zilch in attack, and Lustig especially having trouble getting back so often in just a few days.

You buy cheap, you buy twice .

    See my post earlier.

Any appointment would be a panic one.

    And panic leads to chaos.

Sacking or even replacing Ronny would mean getting rid of the complete coaching team, leading to a different training fitness regime, a change of formation and a change of tactics.

Do you want to risk that?

We are good enough to complete the run in and plan for whatever changes to be made after May.

I think you are absolutely right.

Nevertheless the Board must take responsibility for this debacle of an appointment.

And for their failure to take decisive action to correct the mistake when it has been obvious to many of us for quite some time that this appointment WAS a mistake.

There can be no other conclusion.

    How much longer?

  18. How would some of you react if we finish the league on more points than last season (which is still possible)?

    GG

I’d be surprised if celtic havent been considering other options.

On a lighter note……remember when Ronny spoke of his desire to destroy teams……

    :-)

  25. I believe if you are a coach in a relatively small league like the Norwegian one or similar for a period of 6 yrs then you have found your level in the game, nothing wrong with that but Ronny must have thought he won the lottery when he was offered the Celtic job, a total unknown in the game apart from his own country.

I felt at the time his appointment was a poor one and surely now his time is up but also whoever sanctioned this choice must also be sharing his taxi

Sundays and tonight’s games showed me IMO the most heartless spineless Celtic team I’ve seen in 40 yrs of watching us, if ever a team mirrors a manager then it’s us,

I can’t recall us coming from behind to win under him and 8 times this season we have lead in games and not won them,

I genuinely fear for the title now because the other teams in SPL must see it, if we go a goal down we look gubbed,

Like all of us I hoped for the best with Ronny but it’s over for him now.

  26. A vehicle without an engine stays parked.

The entire season our central midfield area has been parked.

We rely mostly on one guy up front and hopeless punts.

Have said far to often that Bitton who is supposed to be our fulcrum is the problem.

His positional sense is awful as is his tackling and his preference to slow the game down and pass 4 yards backwards and Stand still is a huge reason for our defensive frailty and lack of forward movement.

If the coach can’t see this then it’s no surprise we are fragile and faltering.

  27. Saint Stivs

Thought that was what you meant, just wasn’t sure. Keep doing what yer doing. HH :-)))

I wouldn’t like that at all, because we would get all irrationally optimistic about Europe before getting booted out by FC karagorschky zan of Ulan Bator.
