Too much trying to thread passes in tight spaces in a packed 18 yard box, it was crying out from strikes from distance and Calmac’s strike was that. It is an area we need to improve. Mind you he did sky a few before that but we can now look at them as warming up. Big Joe looked uncertain at times. This might be his last season as first starter.Tony Ralston and Greg Taylor fought their patch well and offered a lot going forward. Good play from 2 CBs, indeed I was surprised how good Carl Starfelt was after a long absence. Okay from the midfield but Matt O’Riley as I’ve said many times needs to improve his shooting if he’s to become a complete player. His shooting tends to be accurate but very weak. Thought Daizen Maeda offered little as he can’t take men on so he’s unsuited to the wing. I was not surprised that he was replaced at half-time, in fact I was calling out for it. There was a lot more of a threat from the right when Liel Abada came on. I love Kyogo but he’s ineffective in these types of game and his shooting seems to have deserted him. Jota was excellent. Big GG never really made an impact when he replaced Kyogo, Turnbull was calm and allowed Calmac more attacking intent, James Forest was a real threat. MOM Calmac because he scored but Starfelt was a close second.

Two things I noticed today
Firstly, didCeltic have stewards over at the away fans, preventing the players from picking up a cheap booking at the goal?
Secondly, our possession to fouls and bookings ratio is a slam dunk of a dissertation for a student of statistics. It defies all logic

Aberdeen showed more in the last 4 mins than in the first 90. Absolutely awful.
One good thing is they are unlikely to play like that on Tues. They tend to be a lot more aggressive against the Govan mob.

A good three points and important not give the huns any openings for a come back. Today would have been another in a long line of absolute sickners for them.
I’m confident that Aberdeen will not play like that against the huns next week. They’ll get men forward and leave them space to attack. So we’re victims of our own successes in some ways.
As it is, the huns games are an irrelevance. Keep winning and get this over the line, Celtic.

Incidentally, Aberdeen had 19 % possession so we had 81% .
The foul count was 8 each.
That means we fouled Aberdeen players once every 3 m 3o seconds (roughly) while they fouled our players once every 9 minutes.
So, what is it:
a) We are a very dirty side;
b) Aberdeen are a very clean side;
c) The Ref is a cheat?

Dire game of football up north, but a long anticipated three points safely secured.
Many Celts not at it today, in an overall ‘back from long break performance’ , where the final pass was always off, or unconverted. Calum MacGregor took 85 minutes of range finding before scoring a thoroughly merited winner. Captain installed, pushing Hatate forward but his touch was left elsewhere, so to O’Riley in midfield. Daizen does old fashioned inside left not wide right today or any other game.
So to the Ange game changing subs Abada Turnbull and James Forrest collectively tipped the balance against a team of cluggers every one of them hiding behind the ball. Football? but not as we know it. Made Celtic look more rusty than some of them probably were, Anthony picked a bad week to quit instensity with all the Josip talk, and GG may or may not want a better league, you have to admire his balls, if he does.
Team game, ( see the celebrations ) and the only team in town, won.
Think Petrov said we have scored 16 goals in last 15 mins this season. Over on Follow Follow, many of them actually praise our ability to win late, something about mental fortitude and fitness.
I must admit, I could not see a goal coming today. Our shooting was generally poor, crossing was ineffective and passing pedestrian.
If any of you genuinely felt confident on the 87th minute that a goal was coming, hats off to you.

Another genuine LoL moment.
Can honestly say that is the lowest stat of it’s kind I have EVER seen.
Serious point – if I was a Dons fan I’d be fuming at Jim Goodwin right now.
Aberdeen are a big club.
3rd biggest in Scotland.
With a tremendous pedigree over the last 50 years.
That “12 guerillas dotted around the hills sniping an advancing legion” approach today was unworthy of the club. (IMHO).
St Mirren level tactics.
