So the fun thing could be that we win our next 3 games and get to qtr finals of League Cup / Top league (or equal with Hearts).
Our Glasgow rivals lose out to Brugge.
We could be sending them to bottom of the league when we go to Ibrox.
Worse than that for them would be the 3 games after we play them would be Hearts and home, a Europa game and then going to Livingston. So no gimmees there.
A not unrealistic scenario could be we sit top in mid September with 18 points and Hearts 2 behind. We are in the CL and rangers have 4 points or so with a game in hand (at St Mirren) in the bottom 2 or 3 in the league.

I’d love to think Arne could become a mainstay midfielder for us but my nagging doubts won’t go away . Young or not, he needs to be a 90 minute influencer and Brendan seems unwilling to put that responsibility on him at the moment . It may happen but I wouldn’t bet my house on it. As for Adam , I think his future might be in the English championship or abroad but he will not ever develop into the striker we need. If you were scouting either of them at present , I doubt you would recommend them at the prices we paid .

I agree, that’s why I say we should cut your losses.
It makes more sense to me if we get £15m for both now and re-invest in a couple of players that we hopefully sell for £30m (still a 50% turn on the outlay for Engels and Idah).
This outcome is by no means a given, but if done properly we’ll get a better return on our capital than watching £20m of assets depreciate before our eyes.
Psychologically it’s very difficult for most of us (me included) to admit we got it wrong and move on. The ability to do so is invaluable.

Have to agree . One decision I hope the board gets right . If Brendan can’t develop them into players we can make at least 100% profit on , we admit our mistake and move on . I just hope it doesn’t scare us into recruiting at the £1-2m level of spend in future . We need to keep pushing the boat out as well at times .

Whilst the “Yang window” was a total shambles, unless remedial action is taken, the “Idah window” may turn out likewise.
Two wrongs do not make a right and something is clearly wrong in the way we go about recruiting players.

Udinese apparently in talks re £4.5m transfer of Lennon Miller.
Are Celtics board insane?! £5m, £6m is a bargain for him.
He’ll definitely make more money if they sell him later and he might even be a Calmac successor.
It’s a total no brainer. John McGinn again

I think Arne’s more likely to come good than Adam (although I’d love them both to succeed) . I feel there’s more pressure on Adam because strikers are measured in goals .

has lennon miller ever shown anything against the tic ? i dont watch mwell so have no opinion on him, but havent seen anything to get excited about. who would he replace right now in the tic team and would he be happy being a squad player ? liam henderson just signed for sampdoria, his 6th italian club btw.

We should definitely be grabbing the best young Scottish talent and £5m represents a safe investment . I just wonder if the boy would rather sample a new environment/ lifestyle , just as a few other young Scottish players have? Would he sign for us? Are we interested? Great result. The St Aloysius boys really don’t deserve Rodgers though. Holding off on modest transfers to see if we get past Slovan or Kairat. When we have £100m+ in the bank and £40m more awaiting a win against modest opposition.
These clowns should’ve stuck to the rugby. They’ll get their dream manager next season when wee Maloney brings his stellar managerial record into the job, grateful to accept the crumbs from their overfed table. Watch comfortable wins at Aberdeen turn into draws and defeats.
Soulless capitalists first and last, Celtic men (and women) somewhere after that, if at all. Also absolutely hopeless at maximising Celtic’s potential. No wonder they’re roundly loathed by the majority of the fan base.

Ah,the old BBC.
If Idah slips on his backside one on one today, the internet melts.
Idah has 29 goals in 72 appearances, goals against them, goals in the CL and winners in cup finals.
He’s doing fine. I hope he ignores the online pile ons.
Idah needs more service from the 2 wingers, Forrest and Maedia which isn’t happening, so I’ll give idah some slack

Rodgers looked a happy coach after the victory up in Aberdeen, maybe he has been told there will be a few players arriving this week.
For me the only question is when do we cut our losses on Engels and Idah.
The former is kept out of the starting 11 by someone signed for £1.6m and the latter most of us wish we had a better alternative.
£20m of book value for 2 players who are simply ineffectual is too high an opportunity cost for Celtic.
The longer we leave it, the more their value will diminish. Best we get what we can now and reinvest the proceeds in better prospects.
Here’s the pre-match team talk for our 31st August game if Celtic and Rangers match their previous results against their next opponents…
“Win this one Bhoys and you’re NINE points clear of The Champions Elect ® after just four games. Make it happen.”
