  1. Today’s match was a poor spectacle, our goal apart.

The changes to the side meant that we lost our fluency and guile in midfield. The two new full-backs didn’t impress on their debuts but hopefully better days will lie ahead for them.

Commons’ lay-off for the goal was sublime but he looks a shadow of the man that graced the hoops last season.

Victor is a collosus and made a difference when he came on.

I take comfort from knowing big players didn’t start that game today – Matthews, Ki, Brown, Kayal, Izzaguire, Wanyama, Samaras.

Very diasppointed that our winning streak has ended but great days of celebration lie ahead for us.

  2. Had every player been fit, rested and available, would we have performed better with the following alternative selections today?:

    Matthews for Lustig

    Izaguirre for Blackman

    Brown for Forrest

    Wanyama for Commons

    Kayal for Mulgrew

    I think so.

It is important to bring new players through and give them competitive game time. But making five changes for one game and almost completely re-jigging the midfield, especially against a team undefeated in their last 11 games, is always likely to present a major challenge.

So we can nno longer clinch the title today, even if 2nd place Motherwell lose… although that outcome would leave Motherwell needing to win every remaining game and Celtic to lose every game, with a GD swing of at least 40, for Motherwell to pip us to the title.

  3. No shape or craft so result not surprising.

Strikers had one decent bit of service all day and took advantage.

The midfield shape was hopeless till Victor appeared.

Young Dylan was good also in his short stint.

Hopefully coaches learned a lesson today.

  4. Kris Commons showed on the Stokes goal what he is capable of. Injuries have played their part this year for him. I don’t agree with the punt him comments (KLV). Today he had to link up with a bhoy who put on the jersey for the first time. KC mad a few passes today that were there for Andre but he didn’t read them, inexperience. You can see from Neil’s reaction to Stoke’s goal that he was delighted, not for Anton but for KC. KC still has a role to play for this club.

  5. We have to set our standards much higher than this, two full backs making their debut both subbed,Charlie moved out of midfield,Hooper at times seems to be throwing the dummy out of the pram when its not going for him and Commons a shadow of the player he was last season. The great run of victories had to end some time but lets get the league won then experiment and give fringe players games.I would much rather Neil had gone with McGeouch from the start rather than Blackman. The negative build up to the game did not help, players tired from international duty etc,Rogne who was outstanding again today was only in Belfast,Wanyama did not look too jaded when he came on, Cha is always full of running, the case could be made for Forrest being tired but I think his form anyway has shaded in the last month.Play your best team after all they have a week to recover till the next game.Well done Celts but whatever happens at Ibrox we have to be ready to move up to a different level something we have failed to do in the past.

  6. Aberdeen defended for most of the game

    often with 8 in midfield

Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett and Fraser Fyvie –

    all good young players

    quick and clever

they have a fella called Joe O’Shaugnessy in their youths

talented CB, would add somethin to their team

Mary Reynolds his usual steady self

General consensus seems to be: you can’t win them all, and I agree. To many changes, too many regulars on an off day. Not to mention brother Thomsons lack of control, and an unbelievable booking for rogne. Still undefeated. Still champions. Still going to be here next season, and the next, and the next, and the nex…….

Bring on the first leg of the trebble, then bring on the termanily ill huns for one more last dooing.

    Hail hail!

    Madmitch –

Thanks for proving what I have always thought of you.

How many months have you been waiting?

    ===========

    Exactly.

He’s been lurking angrily while the team were winning and only surfaces when we draw, blaming the manager. I’m just surprised that the board hasn’t resigned already under pressure from the appropriately named Mad one.

When we win the league he may well be the only Celtic “fan” who doesn’t celebrate.

  9. I’m gutted the winning run is over but Blackman’s unfortunate intervention for their goal aside, I reckon we would have comfortably won.

Ah well, it now becomes an unbeaten run.

Gary Hooper had a terrible day at the office. First touch completely deserted him today.

Stokes’ goal was a peach and as cool a finish as you’ll see all weekend in the uk.

Impressed with Lustig, no sign of nerves on his debut and used the ball very well.

Kris Commons not at the races today. Great pass for Stokes’ goal but nothing even approaching that level of guile again from him in the game.

Joe Ledley and James Forrest not influential enough today while I had Charlie Mulgrew down as MOTM until Vic’s late showing.

Central pair at the back were solid and big Fraser was really, REALLY unlucky to see his clean sheet record damaged at what was a piss poor shot from Aberdeen.

Overall I’d put the performance down to Lenny’s enforced re-shuffle and I’m in no doubt he’ll be gutted at a result that came about through a single moment of nervous madness. On that note I wouldn’t be too harsh on young Blackman, his nerves got the better of him I think but he showed enough energy and commitment to merit another chance should it come along.

Well done to Lenny, it didn’t quite come off today but it wasn’t for the want of trying.

  10. ESPN goes to a break at 14.24 (possibly 14:23) when the show is scheduled to run to 14:30.

    hmmmmm

    Scum the lot of them.

  11. Quotes for Neil’s response today for us DownUnder please?

Anyone? Burley’s sour comments need rejection before I can sleep easy.

  12. A Lot Tripe being spoken on here this afternoon. The Establishment and the Referee are to blame .for goodness sake be truthful for once the team were awful to-day ,but thats what happens now and again.

  13. We were poor today, but it was clearly fatigue, we will no doubt be back to our best and starting a new winning run next week in the final. I think Lenny’s right, a 3 o clock start might have been just enough to freshen the players up for the match, afterall we have like the 3rd most regular internationals in the world, more and man u, chelsea and arsenal ! Btw, if you can get a stream of the rangers game, do it. I have the one from rangers tv and its absolutely hilarious, the rangers main commentator is literally spitting the dummy every 2 seconds.

I know there are those who go week in week out as I did when they were cheating their way to 9 in a row.

Never missed a game in this period and would never take a ticket from those more worthy, but u cant pick the era you grow up loving celtic, therefore after all those we know are sorted and there is a wee sleekit ticket available for ibrox, remember me, I want to say cheerio to a old friend!!!!
