*would hate tae have seen this board after Kiev 1967, dumped out of the cup as holders at the first time asking.
Reality was we shouldn’t have been asked to play that round as the holders usually got a bye however due to an uneven amount of clubs in the first round we were made to play.
After losing the opening game 1-2 at Parkheid we went over to Kiev and leading 1-0 we had a perfectly good goal chalked off by the pernickety Italian ref who also sent Bobby Murdoch off for petulantly throwing the ball away.
On the Saturday prior to the 1st game we lost 0-1 tae the deid team, the first side tae beat the then European champions.

What I don’t understand is the number of fans who think this is a knee – jerk reaction.
It isn’t.
We’ve all been watching this slow car crash for long enough.
Yesterday came about as the result of years of poor decision making throughout the club, the strategy that sees us lose our best players every season and a managerial appointment that has divided opinion wildly.
The people pointing out the mess are no less Celtic fans than those who attack them for complaining.
These years should have been our golden years.
Instead they’ve been long, largely dull and a slog.
The peak was the night we beat Messi and friends.
Since then we’ve just dropped in quality year on year while the people who run the club pat themselves on the back and as far as I can see their money is never reduced. I stand to be corrected on that fact if it is not the case.
The manager we have was a nobody and yet he was given a job to replace a club legend when he was only considered as a number 2 in the first place to Roy Keane (who I would not want either while I am on the subject).
Our so called brilliant Scouting network has largely consisted of one agent bringing us Israeli league players in the main and the youth teams of the two Manchester clubs and Dundee United players.
While there is nothing wrong with signing good young talent they need experience and leaders to help them. That we won’t sign anyone like this is a serious failing.
A succession of dud strikers have been brought to the club at a huge cost when spending all that cash on one or two better standard players may have yielded better results.
The manager is relying on a guy he barely played for months last season.
He continues to play our best player sparingly or from the bench or not at all. The best goal threat from midfield is left out for players who are neither quick nor clever enough to hurt Scottish opposition never mind European teams.
He puts on Ambrose before a genuine RB. He lets Fisher go on loan when the boy has never let us down and has great fight.
He persists with a system where our patchy wingers are left to do nothing productive.
He waits until it is too late to change it at home and abroad.
If we play opening in Amsterdam it could be 4-0 at least.
He trains the team and we hear how much fitter the players are than under Neil Lennon. I never saw Lenny’s teams chuck it the way this one has in his early seasons in charge at least. It’s arguable if we chucked it the night Barcelona battered us or if they were just so good on the day.
If they are so fit why do they wilt after 70 minutes consistently?
Craig Gordon, Scott Brown and Kris Commons all rebutted the manager after he called them scared in Malmo. 3 senior players. And people wonder if there’s a split in the dressing room?
What angers me and people like me I imagine is that all of this shambles was avoidable by investing the money at the right times in the right players – why was Simunovic not signed in late June/early July for example?
The reason we won the league and cup last season was simple – Deila swallowed his pride and played Commons and Griffiths and we got goals.
It took him long enough to realize the importance of these guys and even now one he leaves out far too often.
The games we have won under this manager have largely been struggles, boring, bad football on show and very poor link up play filled. We should score 4 every week in the SPFL such is the dominance and players we possess but we don’t. We make enough chances practically every week to do that but we don’t.
Where have the team played well this season?
45 minutes at home to Malmo
0-0 in Quarabag.
60 minutes at home to ICT
Still think this is a knee jerk reaction?
At this stage I think Christie will be recalled in January but the team needs to gel.
You don’t get time at Celtic.
People complaining have every right especially as they pay their money.
We don’t pay our money to see experiments or for good balance sheets. We pay to see good play on the park and on that count the manager for me has utterly failed since his appointment.
He is not the only one to blame but another manager will get more from this group in my opinion.
Having a full on sports day sat in front of telly.

“My theory is King hasn’t put more than a couple of million quid into the current incarnation / holding company / whatever as he is brassic and in desperate need of the 20 million he claims to be owed from the old club.
He’s probably had this ‘old co’ idea all along and he’s just waited until the football on the park is keeping the hordes happy before announcing it.
He comes in appears to be the savoir buying shares with other peoples money and somewhere down the line he revives the old co pays off all the creditors including his claim towards the front of the queue for 20 million. He then floats whatever setup they then have on the stock market cashes his out and gives back the money to whoever was stupid enough to front the purchase of his shareholding. That’s just my theory
I think a few things have gone wrong for him along the way though and he probably didn’t expect it to take quite as long.”

Rose yesterday morning full of the joys of life. After all it was my 76th birthday. All that soon disappeared by 2 p.m. after watching the match. As I see it after years of supporting Celtic, we are quickly returning to the Kelly Biscuit Tin era. Yes, the club may have more money in the Bank than in those days. But the same attitude prevails in this board as in that one…the supporters only count when they are providing money for the club and the Board.
Incidentally, ever since I was a young supporter I knew the names of the club’s chairmen and could point them out in public. Today I have to ask other fans what the chairman’s name is and what he looks like. Apart for one name, I would have to look up the names of Board members.
It is also of interest that a man coming from a nation that has long suffered from the actions of absentee landlords should so rarely be seen at Celtic Park.

Once I would have taken Jackie McNamara but his star has fallen mostly because we took most of his team away from him. He may be a good manager for us in the future yet.
Paul Lambert is an obvious candidate if he were interested because he has experience and has had success. He took a poisoned chalice at Aston Villa because they were also in downsizing after MON left.
Paul Hartley is one for us to be watching.
I want someone who understands the club and preferably who the fans can relate to.
Too soon for Larsson who wouldn’t come right now.
We need someone who is going to unite the fans again.
Would Neil Lennon consider coming back?
It doesn’t really matter what I think because if there is a change then it will be DD’s decision as usual.

With regards KC its not rocket science – RD never wanted him around from day 1 and after the post-Malmo bust-up (Oh yes that did happen!) we had classic Mea Culpa! Massive amateurish slip-up by RD to use that term “scared” – lots of collateral damage self-inflicted and for sure relevant to Captain Broony being AWOL ever since. Still despite all that what English says is also not rocket science – Celtic are a weaker team than last year whilst the Dons are much stronger! Not only physically but more importantly mentally!! Their dressing room is in a far superior state! Ronny is not on thin ice yet but he should have a good wet-suit on standby! Lennon back by Xmas? But more likely Larrson! Hail Hail!

You do realise that you’ve just used up the internet’s daily allocation of exclamation marks? I hope you are proud of yourself…. ;-)
CQN socialists in la la land again. Corbyn is a dream for Tories. Unelectable.
Nice beard. Indulges various crackpots though.
Usual leftie crap which will all go wrong.

You’d like DInisssssssss, a gentleman and a follower of the Celtic since the mid 50’s.
Never whinges, about ‘the board’ ‘the manager’ ‘the referees’ ‘the players’ doesn’t use
the internet, doesn’t buy The Daily Record, just rolls up every season to support the Celtic.
In fact he maybe he is The Celtic ;-)
Watching Leicester V Aston Villa and wondering why Celtic cannot show the passion of the Leicester team – just look at Vardy making sure he scored. Look at the bravery of Dyer to score.
If certain Celtic players don’t want to be there
– out them
– name them
– SHAME THEM!
Blaming the ref or media won’t do. Usual excuses. We are guff. Our fault. Downsizing.

Sorry to say LG might know how to put the ball in the net he is not the brightest and his mouth keeps landing in trouble. H.H.
Slow car crash……
Surely one of said cars would stop
