Absurd Rummenigge, Regan

435

When Juventus scored in the opening minutes in the away leg of their last 16 Champions League tie last night it felt familiar. It’s just three years since you and I saw them in person do the same thing at the same stage of the competition.

It took Bayern Munich 70 minutes to rebound but we’ve not really recovered from a lapses in a tie which could otherwise have been far closer than the five goal margin it turned into. Getting back onto the same field with the likes of Juventus after Christmas (or even after August) is now the big challenge. It will take some doing.

I liked Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as a player but as a Usurper of Meritocracy he’s falling well down my list. He celebrated both teams after last night’s game before asking how long Uefa would countenance teams like Juventus exiting the competition at this stage? Not only would he like clubs like his get guaranteed entrance to the competition, he feels that elimination in March should is too harsh a consequence for losing.

I’m sure Rummenigge was being deliberately absurd last night. He’s trying to provoke alarm before playing his hand.

John Clark, on Scottish Football Monitor, attended SFA chief executive Stewart Regan’s presentation at Edinburgh University yesterday on values and integrity in football. Mr Clark questioned Mr Regan on whether Rangers failure to pay overdue social taxes in 2011 broke Uefa competition eligibility rules. Clark informs us Regan said he would do “Nothing” if incontrovertible evidence was available that social taxes were unpaid and that debt collectors had been employed.

We have a criminal lack of oversight in Scotland, not just in football.  This attitude would not be possible in London.

The spirit of Jack Warner, Sepp Blatter and so many others is alive and well at Hampden. This is what we’re up against, and remember people, Blame the Victim is the hottest game in town, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know the background, anyone can play.

  1. Would love to the FTSFA treated like this

Criminal proceedings have been opened against former Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke, Swiss investigators say.

Valcke was put on leave last September after football’s governing body said it had “been made aware of a series of allegations” involving him.

The 55-year-old Frenchman was later banned from football for 12 years.

The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) said it is now investigating Valcke for “various acts of criminal mismanagement”.

It added the criminal investigation related to the “matters investigated by the Fifa Ethics Committee” which led to Valcke’s ban last month.

He has not been arrested but was questioned by investigators who carried out searches on Thursday.

Valcke was sacked by Fifa after it investigated allegations of misconduct relating to sales of World Cup tickets.

His lawyer said his client had done “absolutely nothing wrong”.

But the inquiry heard as well as his involvement in the World Cup tickets sales, from which he allegedly sought to privately benefit, he also attempted to sell TV and media rights to a third party in a cut-price deal.

The inquiry also heard Valcke routinely used a private plane for personal use “and caused considerable financial damage to Fifa”.

I’m totally Sickened by the plc ….. as you are aware I spend a fair amount following the club and have done all my life . I fear those days are drawing to a sad conclusion and if resolution 12 is time barred due to the boards evasion my financial support will cease . In fact given that my season ticket for this year was paid in 2015 in probably will not spend any more on celtic.

Maybe I should watch all future games in the park ville.

  3. My friends in Celtic

Ronny Delia is not too nice at the Press Conferences. He is dignified.

    Hail, Hail.

Ps : what I would really have liked to see would have been PL interrupting and saying ” gather round Ladies and Gents, I am going to tell you a few home truths about Scottish Football.

  4. BRTH I hope you are well.

    Thanks for the update.

But look mate let’s cut to the chase.

Celtic are refusing to take this issue forward when they should and refusing to say why.

    It’s pathetic. It’s game over.

So it’s time to face facts.

Thousands of us are starting to do so.

Our choice is to fight the board or walk away.

No more waiting. No more being nice.

Celtic are stalling and you and I know why.

    They have betrayed us.

    Do you agree?

  11. Spurs down 4-0 to Dortmond in the Europa league.

Their defence is getting ripped apart, although they have a great defensive record in the EPL.

In Pochettino they have a young foreign manager.

Can we expect to see the great and the good of English / Welsh football interviewing his successor.

How Ronny maintains his dignity is amazing

Lord of the Lies consummate accountant extraordinaire has calculated the financial risk and decided that the 45% green hun repugnant numpties will be enough to maintain the Old Firm gravy train skimming off said numpty pockets into their own pension plans until retirement.

Celtic will complete the build up of his and other ilk family wealth on the auspices of one of the most blatant examples of hypocricy it has been my misfortune to witness. Long live the OLD FIRM….and lazy journalism.

Interesting watching Brendan O’Carroll’s ‘My Family at War’ on BBC2 last night to realise that though a century has passed since the Easter Rising, just how close it still is. The fact that O’Carroll, not a young man by any means, but not old either, is connected directly to 1916 through three of his uncles actually participating. That is one just generation away for him, and no doubt for many others with a similar background. Of course Brendan’s Dad was not directly involved, only five years old at the time, but the link could not have been clearer. Fine piece of work, think it might have been shown in Ireland already, and which hopefully will lead to more historical coverage nearer the actual centenary next month.

  16. I do understand peoples frustration & anger but people forecasting the end of Celtic and making these dramatic statements are pure drama queens. Celtic will not die, even if top class fans like Jinky, BT & BRTH walk away, Celtic will survive.

Deep down these lads won’t walk away totally either they may not renew their season books, there may be a reduction in the passion they feel but they won’t really walk away.

    Celtic is an incurable condition.

  17. Equaliser for Liverpool right on half time. Can’t see Man Utd scoring another 3 in the 2nd half. Indeed, Liverpool much more likely to score again if Man Utd chase the goals.

  18. Margaret McGill on

No Celtic will not die IMHO. However, the huns will be back with a vengeance aided and abetted by the SFA, Scottish Football clubs, the MSM, the judiciary and Celtic Football club. For money.

    You think 140 years of:

spitting, hacking, leg breaking, thuggery, cheating, mibbery, intimidation, murder, tax evasion and all the cancerous filth that goes with them was bad. You aint see nothing yet!

btw did anyone see Griff on BBC Scotland tonight? Had a right dig at Mackay, Moyes et al, slating them for their lack of respect and hinted most of dressing room were also pissed off. I am coming round to all this Have a cheap shot at Ronny stuff as it seems to be having exactly the opposite effect to the one intended by the MSM.

*correct, his only connection with Cymru is that after his return to Britanniae from Rome he then left for Ireland from there. Unfortunately, the west brits were hostile tae his return so he made his way tae the black north.
