Abuser hypocrisy, United and Atletico

939

I don’t know what was said to Neil Lennon after the victory over Dunfermline last week but if it caused him to react I can imagine the tone.  The few visits I made to the South Stand during Gordon Strachan’s tenure left an indelible image of life as a Celtic manager.

Whatever Kirk Broadfoot did or did not say to Rangers fans towards the end of their defeat at Kilmarnock yesterday, does anyone seriously think it contained more invective than has been hurled at the player for most of his career?

The self-righteous indignation some football fans exhibit when an employee earning [insert a completely irrelevant figure here]exhibits intolerance to what would get you barred for life from any other workplace in the country is the epitome of hypocrisy.

Garry Kenneth, who is likely to face Celtic at Tannadice on Sunday, today told the world he will not be renewing his contract when it expires at the end of the season, saying, “Dundee United are a feeder club, it has always been like that.” Ouch.  Whatever Kenneth thinks of United he should at least respect their fans emotional investment in the club to be a whole lot more careful with his words.  Should make for a tense afternoon in the United defence, especially if we can put the big guy under some pressure.

Big game on Wednesday.  A win would fire enormous impetus into our season.  Whatever the outcome, the game will provide Neil Lennon with a guide on how to play in the hugely important month ahead.

    I beg to differ.

It took us what seemed like an eternity to get over the lose of wee Emilio.

He is vital to the team. Emilio——Ledley———Commons. That is our Holy Trinity on the left side of the pitch.

In my opinion,he is the best and most important footballer at the club.

I would take what i could get for Izzy as we have replacement ready in Blackman and Ledley looks good for that position.

Sorry my friend but Izzy is the beat leftback we have had at Celtic for many many years, and great teams do not sell there best players. We are going to be great again in the not to distant future, and Izzy should be part of that. But i do respect your opinion and enjoy reading your post.

  5. BelfastCityCelt says 28 November, 2011 at 22:26 Why are former Celtic players missing out on BBC Radio Scotland jobs?

Good tims like Tosh and Tommy Boyd wont sell their souls to the devil, and sign up to the pro hun anti Celtic media agenda possibly? Or you need to be in the Radio Scotland Masonic mob.

I just heard on the news that two Bears are flying in from China at the weekend. Apparently Yang Guang and Tian Tian are heading for a zoo in Scotland. Don’t tell me this is yet another attempt by Rangers to get a foothold in the Asian market!

I think your statement is a bit hunnish mate, whats a name got to do with anything, can he make us a better team should be the only question.

  8. mic1888- You could also argue we have been on our good run since the Rennes game without SB.

Perfectly calm mi amigo, I should have put a smiley in at the end of the post.

I am aslo concerned about the amount of players at the club who are surplice to requirements, this has been a bugbear of mine for some time, I think the policy of jam tomorrow is not working to it’s potential.

Lenny has in the last day or two said that we need a couple of established players, not prospects but first team picks.

So the manager is saying it as well, there must be something in it.

  11. I can remember Willie McStay co-commentating on one or two games,he spoke a lot of sense.Haven’t heard him commentating in a while.

That clown Thomson is one of the worse.Craigan isn’t too bad though,he is fair enough, believe it or not.Nearly sure he is with ESPN,he worked on one of our Europa games and was very complimentary towards Celtic.

I could well be wrong though as my memory isn’t the greatest.

  12. I think we have been fortunate with the emergence of Vic,we struggle when we’re not solid in midfield (against tough opposition) Look more solid when Ki not playing for example. Ki is a good player but I feel he is unsuited to Scottish Football.

Great reading all the comments on the site tonight and look forward to the next post.

    Goodnight all. Hail Hail.

  14. Heard on shortbread tonight Dodds and Jabba winding McIntyre up about being a Celtic fan, would be very surprised if true?

The hun are suffering the death of their club.

They are experiencing symptoms called the………. Cubler Ross Model.

    There are 5 stages.

    1. Denial

    2. Anger

    3. Bargining

    4. Depression

    5. Acceptance

Me thinks they are at stage 2, jeezo long time to go yet for dem huns :>)))))

  16. mic1888

    Which McIntyre is that?

If it’s the Dunfermline manager Jim, from Dumbarton, is a huge Celtic man.

He also attended the real St Patrick High School.

  17. I get pig sick of Keevins undermining, talking down to and being just down right rude to people who are far less experienced on the airways than he is. (Celtic and Rankers supporters)

His “You take it far too serious” – “It’s only a game” – “I’ve bought you a ticket for the circus” totally pisses me off.

We do probably take it too seriously but that’s just the way it is.

I spoke to a Celtic Fan the other week whose wife gave up something that was very important to her so that her husband and son could renew their season tickets this season. She did it because she knew how much it meant to them.

Back to Keevins. Here is a man who has SPONGED off the game that “We take far too seriously.” (And he clearly doesn’t – We are clearly mugs to him)

The man is far outwith his sell by date and should be taken off the airwaves.

Nice wan, pally… and Ah respect yer opinions as weel.

As Regards My opinion concerning Mr. Izzy.. well..

    Let’s Say.

That Ah don’t expect him tae Set the Heather oan Fire.. when He comes

    back…

    and.. Again, in My opinion.

Izzy,is a Good Player.. but he is Nowhere near the Calibre of Player ,that

you and ithers Imagine that he is..

    Fur

He is A Very POOR CROSSER of a Ba’

Sure, He has managed tae get a few crosses in.. which were Profitable, but he is No way near as INTELLIGENT and his FINAL PASSES to a Team Mate are no where near Fruitful.. as those of Mr. Ledley.

Joe Ledley at Left Back… and Sammi are a Potent Power..

Sammi, Thrives, when Joe is Playing, at his Back.

Joe does the simple things.. maks the Ball do the Work..

Izzy, takes oan the Opposition.. and If He succeeds.. well..

    That’s Fine..

He is Similar tae Paddy,in that respect, he,also, Lkes tae Dae Awe the Work..

But, Those Baith of these Players, depend oan hiving

POOR OPPOSITION, tae deal With.. and if they are lucky tae hiv That..

Then, Baith Izzy and Paddy wull Look. awfully guid..

But, if the Opposition are Competent and are Good Tacklers.. then

    Izzy and Paddy.. Luck oot!

    Na..

Gie Me a Player who Maks the Football Dae the work, by spraying..

Telling Passes to Better positioned Colleagues..

    Like Ah say..

Let the Ball dae the Woik.. and Use Yer Heid.. and ye wull get there

Foist Wi’ the Mostest… Every Time..

In Ma Opinion..of course.. In Ma Opinion.

    Kojo

yer pal..who likes ye , already.

  20. John Higgins comments re the league challenge…

“we’ve just got to go keep the faith, go about our business in the right way, not to be shouting our mouths off saying we’re stronger, we’re fitter, we’re better, just keep the mouth shut and just get the head down and, if we can do that, am sure we’ve got more quality than them”

  21. reilly1926

Was chatting with my good lady tonight when she arrived home from work. She listens to Keevins et al in the car and knows my view of them.

She said that tonight he was respectful towards the tragedy surrounding Gary Speed and his lovely family and that football for now wasn’t important.

I’m certain Hugh is a Celtic man and does what he does for his own reason.

The disappointment on sites such as this is that he is taken serioiusly. I don’t believe that’s his intent.

I also think he might be timbhoy2:o)

  22. reilly1926

The reason he won’t be taken of air is the fact he is a total fud, he is doing what they want him to do, and he is doing it very well, we think we are educated Celtic supporters and here we are talking about a total fud, something wrong somewhere :>)

    TET no problems:-)

Thing is WGS had a spend and chose an all-in on Broonie (+wages).

It could be worse (in terms of sellable assets) – he could have chosen to blow the lump sum on (lumps of wood) the likes of; Doumbe, Braffied, Rasmussen, Loovens, Hooijveld, Josh, etc = £4.2M + wages (which would have cost more than £18K per week).

I am neither here or there on Broonie. In my ideal world – I would resign him and punt him (in 6 months) similar to what we did with Stan and put the transfer fee into next summer’s pot to tie some of our key youngsters to decent contracts.

  24. Winston on Still Game is wan away from winnin 32k. Just promised Isa her Nat King if it comes up. Hilarious!!!
