Abuser hypocrisy, United and Atletico

939

I don’t know what was said to Neil Lennon after the victory over Dunfermline last week but if it caused him to react I can imagine the tone.  The few visits I made to the South Stand during Gordon Strachan’s tenure left an indelible image of life as a Celtic manager.

Whatever Kirk Broadfoot did or did not say to Rangers fans towards the end of their defeat at Kilmarnock yesterday, does anyone seriously think it contained more invective than has been hurled at the player for most of his career?

The self-righteous indignation some football fans exhibit when an employee earning [insert a completely irrelevant figure here]exhibits intolerance to what would get you barred for life from any other workplace in the country is the epitome of hypocrisy.

Garry Kenneth, who is likely to face Celtic at Tannadice on Sunday, today told the world he will not be renewing his contract when it expires at the end of the season, saying, “Dundee United are a feeder club, it has always been like that.” Ouch.  Whatever Kenneth thinks of United he should at least respect their fans emotional investment in the club to be a whole lot more careful with his words.  Should make for a tense afternoon in the United defence, especially if we can put the big guy under some pressure.

Big game on Wednesday.  A win would fire enormous impetus into our season.  Whatever the outcome, the game will provide Neil Lennon with a guide on how to play in the hugely important month ahead.

What was it big Sutton said again? I think he got slated and gaffawed in the press for those comments.

I’m sure they will apologise on various phone in’s tonight.

There is only one type of person who uses the words ‘Staunch and Loyal’ in the one sentence and it aint Celtic supporters… ;)

  4. What larks! Modern day discussion of the ole gazebo is rubbish, particularly in the ole Burns Howff.

Nice to see you to see you nice.

DEBBIA has more – and better – catchphrases than old Sir Brucie whassisname.

  5. Declan Is Neil Lennon 1888 Hates being 2nd on

AsonofDan – CQN is a better place for guys like you. reading into wee phrases? are you Hercule Columbo?

  6. Surely Kenneth cannot have been so stupid to have made the comment above,

If true and I were Peter Houston I would tell him to pack his boots right now, pay him up, and play a young lad who is not showing total contempt for the manager, club, team mates and support.

If I were any other team I would not touch him; not only because he is not very good but also because his attitude stinks.

I would certainly never want to see this guy in Hoops.

    Interesting theory,

That would make him not an idiot but still a Rangers fan ?

Hmmm I’m going to rule that out.

  8. So, did broadfoot drop the nut on someone right enough?

Was reported yesterday but without any confirmation.

Surely he wouldn’t be that stupid. Though, having said that……….

Sammi got a Great reception on Saturday, he wants to do well for Celtic and IMO he has Green and White coursing through his veins. There is something totally mystical about this Greek player, I think Neil realises when he unlocks this guys most secured door, Celtic will go up a whole level.

Players peak at the age he is about to approach.

@ Inverness Sammi became less effective when the home fans started to boo him. An angry Sammi is what is required, artificially instilling it into one of the nicest guys in the game may be the tricky part.

No, just a genuine Celtic Supporter who has never heard in my 30 odd years of watching Celtic, anyone but a bitter hun use ‘Staunch and Loyal’ ;)

Petec. We the Celtic support are often our own worst enemy booing our own players isnt going to help them in the slightest. We should be 100% behind our team and if a player is having a bad game he needs our encouragement even more. Its exactly as the old saying United we stand Divided we fall.H.H.

I expected this to happen when they released the statement that they could not answer questions about the LSE investigation into non disclosure of required information. I expect they are hoping this libel case will delay the LSE investigation too.

I am astounded that he is taking on the BBC.

Wtf can he be thinking, they told the truth about him being a barred director, or the head of the Insolvency service lied on a BBC programme, which I very much doubt.

The longer things go on the more he is looking like a complete fool, or he could just be having a laugh, it’s better than anything you could make up.

Afternoon fellow Hoopies from a chilly Tottington.

This place gets better and better. In the make of what you will named Royal Hotel Pub I have now met 2 fellow Tims from Glasgow and then last night a fellow Sweeney whose family hail from Donegal and are Celtic daft. You find the best of people in the strangest of places. You can see the locals roll their eye’s and think……Not another one!!! We now have a fan club of 4 :o)

I feel a bit of a fool for being taken in. It is actually quite an amusing post last night. A Celtic fan who clearly spends a lot of time timposting on follow follow then comes on to cqn to pretend to be a hunposter.

Haha, my head’s spinning thinking about it!

Delaying the inevitible while running up huge bills.

HMRC must be looking at this realising that any money they would get out of admin/liquidation is disappearing into the floating charge.

  19. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Petec Fella sorry I cant agree with you only a few short weeks ago Celtic supporters were calling for Lennies head obviously not all supporters but a large number of them.Sammi has been called everything on CQN and often it was said he should never wear the jersey again. We at the moment are a fickle support you may be correct that at this minute after the week-ends results we might be united. Imo we are not faithfull through and through but we should be.H.H.

  20. As an aside, how many handballs were not awarded to Celtic on Saturday? I include the blatent penalty near the end. The commentator (McLean?)-made a remark that the ref had decided the Buddies had had enough. I remember a similar incident at Aberdeen a couple of seasons back. Add to that the decisions on out balls and corner kicks and you remember that every little thing will be used to unsettle the manager, players, and support. Personally I would like to see the board fire a warning shot across the bows of the print media. They should be on the ball as soon as any innuendo against the club in any form hits the print stage. Martin O’ Neill had them scared silly and took loads of dosh off them. I wish NL would do it as well.

As canamalar pointed out it looks like a delaying tactic.

Delay the inevitible and squeeze a bit more money out of the situation.

  22. The Honest Mistake (Sickened) on

What I just said is 99% crap.

It’s Craig Whyte taking on the Beeb, not rangers.

  23. THM/canamalar

I realise it’s a delaying tactic, but surely he can’t charge the hun for any action he raises for something that happened pre his aquisiton of ragers.

  24. NEIL LENNON’S search for more firepower to add to his already potent strikeforce could take him back to Portugal for Baba Diawara.

After a deal had been agreed between the clubs, the Senegalese hitman just missed out on a transfer to Parkhead on the final day of the summer window when difficulties over a work permit caused it to collapse.

The Hoops then bought Mo Bangura from AIK Stockholm for £2million, but the Sierra Leone international has yet to make any real impact at the club.

Lennon went to watch Diawara for himself just before the last window closed, and was impressed by what he saw.

He has continued to monitor the form of the 6ft 1in 23-year-old, who has bounced back from the disappointment of not getting his long-awaited move from CS Maritimo by banging in 10 goals in just 13 appearances this season.

    THM..,

I dont see any money from a libel case being added to the floating charge, this is a personal issue which is not part of the huns expenses.

How ironic to think that it was Colum’s cheating in not sending Naismith off that has derailed the big ugly SPL game winning machine. Had he been red carded for his thuggish tackle he would have rested his knee and may have been back in a couple of weeks.

A bit like the Dougie Dougie incident they literally trip over themselves such is their desperation to help Rangers/ hinder Celtic. Makes it all the sweeter!
