BRENDAN RODGERS accepted Celtic’s  2-1 win over 10-man Hamilton Accies at the weekend would have been “a bore” for the onlookers.

As the Hoops boss prepared for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Sevco Rangers at Hampden on Sunday, he conceded the performance couldn’t have been easy on the eye.

He admitted: “Once we got the goal early in the second-half, it wasn’t the best spectacle for supporters and I don’t think a lot of games are on that surface.

“It was just a case of completing the job. It’s difficult on the surface for the speed of the game and it was probably a bit of a bore for supporters.

“Sometimes, you tend to think you can score five or six against 10 men, but it’s not always the case and we’ve seen that against ourselves.

“It was important to get the victory and we did that.”

Despite the lack of thrills and spills, the visitng fans will have enjoyed the return of Kieran Tierney and the substitute appearances of matchwinner Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts.

Rodgers welcomed having a lot of squad options while he got ready for the game against the Ibrox outfit at the national stadium as the club aims for a historic back-to-back treble.

He added: “It’s great. You want the availability of the players as often as you can and this season it’s been broken a lot with various injuries compared to the previous campaign.

“But they’re all back now and we’ve tried to give as many of them as much game-time as we possibly could, so they’re ready for this stage of the season.

“It was important to get as many players available for this game as we possibly could.”
