Addition of Abada made everything click

368

Celtic’s record win, 11-0 over Dundee in 1895, was the era before substitutes.  Due to injuries, Dundee were down to 9 men before halftime.  The 9-0 win over Aberdeen in 2010 benefited from three penalty kicks – and, as Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee put it after the game, Celtic had the attendance of Henrik Larsson in the stands to inspire them (honestly!).

By a subjective measure, yesterday’s 0-9 win at Tannadice is the most comprehensive victory in our illustrious history.  Whether we would have added more, if Steven Fletcher received the red card that should have come his way after a 2nd minute studs-up and to the head challenge on Joe Hart, is open to speculation.

For me, the addition of Liel Abada to the starting line-up made everything click for Celtic.  Set aside his hat-trick, that defence-splitting pass to Jota, who squared for Kyogo to start the rout, typified what he brings to proceedings.  When Adaba, Jota and Kyogo synchronise like this, it is easy to get carried away.

History will not record that Dundee United competed well for over 30 minutes of this game.  Celtic had some shaky moments at the back that would be exposed by better opponents.  When Matt O’Riley won possession and the ball broke to Kyogo to score the second, the game was over as a contest.  United looked as though they knew another pasting was coming their way and could do little to resist.

Alexandro Bernabei came on for his competitive debut and, playing as a left-sided attacker, did enough to encourage.  Ange and his players will spend the coming days contemplating the form they have hit ahead of three important games in three different competitions.  We have the League Cup first and cannot get ahead of ourselves.

    I agree.

I’m afraid Rod Stewart’s version doesn’t really do much for me other than when he was on tv and it wound up the huns.

  2. What super football we witnessed on Sunday ,the Harlem globetrotters of Scottish football . Only nervy bit for me was the careless play of Carl starfelt just after we went ahead , I thought he had left that behind but he was at it again on Sunday in a game where we weren’t tested , mistakes like that on Saturday will cost us ,and BTW I like the guy as a player but he needs to cut out the slack play .

  3. You Latin guys were lucky. I had Greek for the first two years at Duke Street. But it came in some kind of handy in later years. Especially the Alphabet drilled into us by Mr. McConville.

The model of cheating used at the Lanarkshire refereeing association, if you know and understand the game

    Moggi:

“We need yellow cards to do their work…”

    “3 pillars of Moggi’s system…”

    “Choosing the refs he wants”

“Punishing refs who were against him”

“And getting referees to suspend players”

    ————

Lionroars- I watched the Netflix series bad sport when it came out and I am never done telling anyone who will listen that cheating in every sport is rife.

If people think a back water like Scotland is beyond these crooks then god help us.

I have came to accept that we as a club are up against an establishment that is knee deep in corruption but what I find extraordinary is the fact we have won so many trophy’s against such bias.

I am still wondering why Mr Madden left for Engerlund (to referee there) has he been caught betting on games, was he approached by individuals to throw games???

Ps anyone not seen it watch it bad sport and it’s about refereeing in Italian football and how 1 club controlled what was going on mirrors Scotland.

“Looking forward to the game today. I had this dream last night that we won 9-0 Away ! How ridiculous is that?

    Cheerio for now.

This is the sort of comment that ruins this once great site, what you think your plethora of posts brings to this place I do not know.

Certainly I quoted one of your comments and gave what was a considered reply.

B76 replied to me and rather than respond at my earliest convenience, as Celtic were playing, llI did what I always do, when the comment is not specific to the game, I waited until the game and aftermath was done.

You may well think that the likes of Kris Commons and his mutineers are better than the Lisdon Lions.

In that respect you would be wrong, but you can at least try to put a coherent argument together rather than respond in a, imo unfunny, snidey Remark.

    Hope all’s good…

The chap used to troll me – he got my personal email address in what I consider a serruptious way.

We crossed swords on here, specifically on the BR issue which is fair enough, he definitely divided opinion.

However, it got to stupid and I had to call him out on here…

He’s quick enough to call out the “trolls” on here, yet for me he is part of a new breed on CQN that has done little for the site.

A lot of what has divided us – PL, Rangers dieing, the Scottish independence referendum is behind us now, perhaps we can move forward and bring back some of the elements that made CQN a great site.

The Football is great, this season is mouth watering – let’s enjoy what it means to be Celtic, you always do…

    Hail Hail

  10. I have to go out now but I`ll come back to this later. For the sake of clarity, my 0-9 comment was an attempt at humour and I have NEVER had Chairman`s email.

    Cheerio for now.

  11. As another Poster mentioned earlier, there is a Horse called ” KYOGO” running at Epsom Today at 2.15pm.

I have backed it with my Bookie at ODDS of ” 6/1″.

Sadly, there are ONLY 4 Runners…so no point in backing Each Way really ?

Its a ” Baby” like the other Horses as its a TWO Year Old, and this is its FIRST TIME on a Race Course. The Jockeys Silks are the HOOPS.

Its up against the Favourite whos Odds are 1/3 ON. So it doesnt look great, however many ODDS ON Shots DO get beaten !

KYOGO ( The Horse) could be ANYTHING ?

    LOL.

    Happy Hoopy Punting….

We’ll leave it there, this has become silly but don’t make me out to be a liar, you may have forgotten and that’s fair enough.

But don’t say you NEVER had my email, it is one thing that’s easy to prove.

    BuzzbombCSC

    ……………………………

I have only met Bobby Lennox once.

On meeting him and a couple of other Ex Celts in Celtic Park one match day, he shook my hand and said ” Hello James”.

As we STILL shook hands I replied…” Mr Lennox”…its great to meet you!.

Bobby and the other Ex Celts started laughing as Bobby said to his auld Team Mates…” Listen to him Bhoys…Hes calling ME…MISTER” !

I immediately salvaged the situation by apologising , and I then called him ” BUZZBOMB”…to which he replied…” Thats better James….now is there anything that you want to ask us” ?

BUZZBOMB had Ronnie Simpson and Tommy Callaghan with him that night.

The BUZZBOMB had a wee chat with me for about 10 minutes or so, and Bhoy he has a great sense of humour.

happy Hoopy birthday to the One and ONLY…Bobby BUZZBOMB Lennox…I grew up watching this Bhoy play !

    How lucky am I ?

  15. Bobby Lennox , one of Celtic and Scotland’s greatest ever players.

    10 caps for Scotland.

    Best wishes wee mhan!

  16. Hassan i Sabbah on

    Many happy returns Buzzbomb.

Reminds me of the old joke about announcing the Celtic team in the mid 21st century.

Announcer: Good afternoon and here are today’s teams.

Celtic – Robot Robot and Robot, Robot Robot and Robot, Robot Robot Robot Robot and Lennox.

  17. Jack Ross being sacked at Dundee Utd ,pity likeable guy ,working with players who are not good enough,,same at Hibernian personally I think there appointment of the present manager is another bad move ,he will be next to get the chop,Dundee Utd and Hibs should be looking at decent coaches like Malky Mc Kay and Paul Hartley and maybe Martindale at Livingston.

  18. BIG WAVY

But the ones who appointed him will keep their jobs.

Always the way , in every line of work, the people responsible for catastrophic appointments are allowed to continue coining in inflated salaries and making appalling appointments.

    They are seldom held responsible.
