AGM ahead

974

Are you looking forward to the AGM tomorrow? As always on these occasions, the questions after the votes will be far more interesting than the formal business of the day. The Living Wage appears on the agenda for the third year, courtesy of the Trust. Celtic now pay at or above Living Wage rates, although they have not signed up to the Foundation and the pay increase for lower-waged members of staff was accompanied with the withdrawal of a discretionary bonus.

Not sure what the cost of this was, or the impact on staff, but we’ll no doubt hear about it tomorrow. I should also say that I’m not signed up to the Living Wage Foundation either, as it has no relevance for my business.

The performance of the team (imperious domestically, impervious to improvement in Europe) will be the central concern from the hall. Celtic are a Champions League club, this is our focus. We need to be competing on that platform regularly.

I expect, and hope, shareholders get an update on Resolution 12, which looks increasingly relevant. You can bet questions will also be asked on whether or not there was a conspiracy to break tax, SPL and SFA rules, and to subvert an SPL Commission.

There’s not a great deal Celtic can say on this matter for now, beyond their statement last week.

Many thanks to Jim Craig and Brendan Sweeney for joining us on the blog last night. These events see the blog at its best and last night’s was no exception. You can buy Brendan’s book, Celtic: The Early Years, or Alex Gordon’s latest, The Winds of Change, Managing Celtic from 1991-2005, at the CQN Bookstore.

My take is he was respondin well to questions…

When it came to the strippin titles…Tom English had a frog in his throat during his answer & more or less said Celtic & Deid would never agree

D**k waded in with the ‘ there isnt a mechanism to ‘punish deid ….’ & at that point for me was P67 time but Kenny…moved on

He done well, but My take is as I ve said before … Ultimately….& unfortunately its …got to be the authorities first… & if we get bull**** then it has to be ALL fans

  7. I think we need stronger drug testing in the Championship.First we had Kenny Miller on earlier saying he and his Hun team mates are after the SPL title next season, and he thinks he can play until 40.

Hibs can’t match Rangers in the Championship title race and I’m going to prove it on Saturday, says Chopra

MICHAEL CHOPRA knows all about coming up against quality opposition from his time in the Premiership,

SNS GroupMichael Chopra admired Rangers’ quality during their match at Ibrox

ALLOA frontman Michael Chopra is ready to shoot down Hibs and fuel his belief Rangers are title winners in waiting.

The former Premiership striker reckons the Light Blues are feeling the benefit of stability on the park and renewed financial strength off it.

The ex-Newcastle, Sunderland and Cardiff star has been impressed by the recent run of Hibs who go to Recreation Park this weekend bidding to make it eight league wins in a row.

However, Chopra maintains it’s Rangers who are the best side in the Championship and their style and transfer market substance will prove telling in the months ahead.

We are well aware of the issues which we have to resolve, although the enthusiasm to do so drains somewhat reading the posts on here today.

There is a meeting with the ad agency next week re the rogue ads – no money is generated from these. They are spam that enters via the legitimate ads and something that we have spend a considerable amount of time on.

The new server needs more resource and we are aware that access to the site is slow and that the ads are preventing some mobile users on 3G or 4G accessing CQN. This will be resolved when we are able to do so from the revenue created.

There are some snagging issues that need resolved regarding design i.e. when you log in you go to dashboard as opposed to main article etc. These have been overlooked somewhat as we have been trying to sort other matters.

Your politely put post suggests that the numbers are dropping off and as I have said I accept that they are being suppressed by the rogue ads and the slow loading issues.

However I thought I would share with you the stats for the last 30 days and compare them to the same 30 day period over five years (remember we beat Barcelona at this time in 2012 so there was a jump around that).

    PERIOD 19th OCTOBER (7-1 DAY!) to 18 NOVEMBER…

    YEAR SESSIONS USERS

    2011 532,321 103,976

    2012 666,338 121,355

    2013 557,800 99,930

    2014 568,084 112,957

    2015 691,568 165,957

So you can see the numbers on CQN are at their highest ever for this sample 30 day period and we are confident that by sorting out the issues that are frustrating us as much as anyone else we will easily maintain a 200,000 users figure and kick on from there.

Did you read the feature we posted today from Livibhoy? It is a really special feature yet on here its someone with Adblocker on moaning about other people’s problems with these ads or us taking the blame for some comments on Facebook going missing.

One of the things we’d like to add is a CQN COMMENTS app and this would suit those to simply wish to have read the posts and comment etc.

We’ve just published Winds of Change, we produced Scott Brown’s book for Celtic and we made sure that Brendan’s book Celtic The Early Years was properly done (without charging him a penny incidentally).

We have also re-build the CQN Bookstore site as the first one wasn’t suitable for the new CQN site.

I remember when FHM was selling 700,000 copies a month. It was closed down this week.

The newspapers are heading the same way and we want to be there to be the main source of Celtic news and we want to replace the MSM as a principal source of Celtic news and opinion.

Anyway, in summary, we are trying our best.

  12. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

Listened to about 20 mins of the podcast. Pretty good. Murdo McLeod not too bright; Tom English pseudo-intellectual; Paul 67 very professional; whoever the other two were, pretty fair. Overall, better than I would have expected from a Scottish radio station.

I will listen to the whole thing tomorrow.

    Goodnight all,

Everybody is allowed an opinion but are always experts and sometimes talk rubbish at the same time :-)

Keeping doing what you are doing, it is appreciated by many! Change is difficult but CQN continues to move forward ( and backwards occasionally).

BTW your rubbish at 5s, is that why you are hiding? See opinion, expert and rubbish all at the same time :-)

  15. thought Paul did a great job on the show! set the tone nicely without sticking his neck out too far. The point about info/data withheld from LNS was made well but i think needed more concrete examples – the panel shrugged it off as “rangers have already been fined for side letters” . What else, specifically, was withheld which may alter LNS judgment.

Why is Murdo so bitter? can you imagine an ex rangers player in the same situ with a rangers fan blog – it would be pats on the back and nice hand shakes. Murdo comes across hostile for some reason. He actually said the fitness of the players is all down to the fitness coach – nothing to do with Deila demanding a better and more scientific lifestyle approach to fitness. walloper!

  16. WC

Keep up the good work, CQN is worth it, if I can’t log on with iPhone during the day means I don’t post rubbish while at work, iPad no problems…..as for P67 quoting the DR in an article the other day then on Sportsound ?????

All kidding aside heard a wee bit of RS tonight and thankfully P67 never took the eijits bait, by far more professional than the other chancers….for the record there will be no appeal, I know “we have to wait” but there will be no appeal FACT

    Good night CQN

  17. Winning captains,

Good news about the viewing figures and also about your intentions to sort out the inappropriate ads. And the gambling ads ( hopefully).

I just wouldn’t talk/”vent”hat way about your customers/stakeholders here where we can all read it.

A couple of weeks back I highlighted my grandsons company being in the running for a West Lothian business award,it came out the winner and he will receive his award soon.

Today he was the winner of the Forth Awards in the Usher Hall in Edinburgh in his category..

There is no limit to the abilities of our youth, just give them your backing.

Party Animals Encounters is the name of his company, look it up I am sure you would like your children to experience the joy at there birthday party’s etc.,.BTW Sean would probably give you a song as well.HH

  19. I’ve just listened to the BBC podcast and while Paul gave a good performance I am disappointed he missed a great opportunity. While they all discussed the EBT’s and potential consequences, Paul failed to drive home the other damning breach namely Resolution 12…. Oh dear Paul !!!

  20. The blog is really pissing me off tonight, when its good its good and because of that am logging off till match time, as I don’t want to become totally disillusioned.

  21. Beatbhoy,

You seem very upset, along with a few others, that I,maybe some others were less than entertained by last nights Q and A.

Get over yourself,WTF is this.A blog where we all have to agree?.I will say again, only one question asked that had any importance for me,and it was dodged.Maybe asking “Who was your favourite player”type of question, appeals to you and others, but it does nothing for me.

I did say well done to those that did enjoy it.
